I guess I disagree with Renegade regarding "nobody cares about features" -- I'd rather see a feature list than a hand-wavey description of how a program is going to solve my problems.

But I think in general we are all in agreement that the home page should be clearer about what the program actually DOES.

yes, new options will be added and set to defaults when you run the new version, nothing to worry about.

Good you found a solution.  Alt+E maps to save+hide, which is why that does what you want.
I will however, add an option that says what Enter should do (save+hide vs save+show).

The problem is that it's not designed as a realtime encoder.


Fair enough.. And it probably makes sense to split up the job of rapid lossless recording vs the job of getting good compression.

So we're back to the idea that ESR should have a way to post-process (either on demand or automatically) video into a format for uploading and sharing.

Are you saying the filename used when you choose "save but hide" is different from the filename suggested in the Save As dialog? What does the "save but hide" filename look like?

x264 in lossless mode sounds intriguing as a potential default recording format for ESR..
