Pushbullet
Text from your computer
If you enabled SMS sync in our Android app, you can text from your computer via Pushbullet.
Texting from your computer is easy, here's how:
Click SMS in the left bar.
And there was no "SMS" in the left bar.
Maybe it works better with Android.-Steven Avery (October 18, 2019, 09:45 PM)
Been using Pushbullet for years. Essential for desktop to iOS
I love this app! Whether it's to save things for later, send it to the Pushbullet app so I can text it to some of my friends as sometimes I'm on my custom built PC and I can't airdrop like I would on my MacBook. The features are there and they're so many more functions besides what iOS can do alone like remote files, multiple device management, sending it to people within Pushbullet. It's great, It's wonderful, It's been working for years and I totally recommend it.
Something I want: Can we get an iMessage app so I don't have to tab to the Pushbullet app copy a link or hit the share button go back to the Messages app and vice versa. Being able to just grab right from Pushbullet in a small little iMessage feed and paste it right into a conversation that's already open would be amazing and super fast.
Thanks Wraith808 - would have never known about that.
Had posted on their forum but it's lost in the wind.-dantheman (October 17, 2019, 07:44 PM)
Seems like everything has to be stored in the cloud - I'm hosting this locally available on a VPN....-fredemeister (October 13, 2019, 07:58 PM)
One important thing to specify: Is your goal a system where your family members (who I assume are not all programmers!) themselves edit information about books through a locally hosted web app of some sort? Or is the goal that only you update the information and then your family reads it through locally hosted webpages?-Nod5 (October 14, 2019, 05:18 PM)
Thanks for your reply, the second is the way I'm going, although slowly.-fredemeister (October 17, 2019, 05:54 PM)
Have un-installed Brave all-together (on Android too).
Bookmark+Password import was ineffective.
Even Vivaldi (who aren't as well funded) do a better job at both!-dantheman (October 17, 2019, 08:13 AM)
You may want to consider starting a new, dedicated thread to facilitate discussion for that project.-Deozaan (October 12, 2019, 07:53 AM)
- DoneAttackers have created an elaborate scheme to distribute a cryptocurrency trading program that installs a backdoor on a victim's Mac or Windows PC.
Security researcher MalwareHunterTeam discovered a scheme where an attacker has created a fake company that is offering a free cryptocurrency trading platform called JMT Trader. When this program is installed, it will also infect a victim with a backdoor Trojan.

Couple goal with open mind allowing other to speak
I didn't understand this comment. Can you clarify?-mouser (October 11, 2019, 07:12 AM)
I'm always leery of lifetime deals. Who knows how long they'll be in business or get bought-out and change the terms of existing user contracts.-Midnight Rambler (October 08, 2019, 10:23 AM)
Ghacks has a new owner, and that is a good for everyone
TLDR; Softonic acquired the site ghacks.net. I remain editor of the site and all writers remain on board. We have full editorial control over the content and articles will be published just like before. Ghacks remains Ghacks.
When I started Ghacks.net back in 2005 I never thought about the possibility that it could become a highly respected well visited technology news website. I wanted to share my findings and information, and it happened almost by accident that the site came to some popularity weeks after I set it up.
I quit my day job to start working on the site full-time in late 2006 and never looked back. Almost 15 years is a very long time for a site on the Internet, and especially once that is run by an individual without the backing of an organization or team.
I worked on the site seven days a week, even when I was on holiday, and stayed awake plenty of nights trying to figure out display errors and other site issues.
Fiddling around with technology was always my passion and writing about things that interested me came naturally. In the past couple of years, I noticed that administrative tasks would consume more and more of my time, sometimes more than writing and researching did.
There were new regulations, e.g. the EU cookie law and GDPR that caused sleepless nights. The changing advertising landscape did not help either, and the desire grew to go back to the roots and focus my efforts on the researching and writing part again.
Softonic contacted me about a potential partnership and talks evolved quickly to a potential sale of the site with me and the other writers staying on as staff. We came to terms quickly as Softonic met all my requirements for a sale of the site.
I remain editor on Ghacks and publish articles just like before. Ashwin and Mike continue to write articles for the site as well and everything in that regard stays just like before. We have full editorial control over the articles and you can expect the same level of quality, if not better..
Softonic takes over many of the administrative tasks including managing the domain and hosting, advertisement, and communication with partners.
It was not an easy decision but in the end, it was the right one. I can focus on what I want to do – write and fiddle around with tech – and Ghacks’ future is secured.
About Patreon
I would like to thank you for your support in the past years. It has not been easy to start asking for donations and your support ensured that I could pay the server using donation money.
Donations are not necessary anymore and the requests to donate are removed from the site as a consequence. I’m also going to close the Patreon account .
Again, I cannot thank you enough for your support over the years and I’m looking forward to supply you with great tech articles in the years to come on Ghacks.
You can send me an email any time at [email protected] and I try my best to get back to you as soon as possible. Your help was fundamental in keeping the site up on the Internet when other sites in the tech niche vanished or were not updated anymore.
Try tables and text on images, especially when the clarity is not there and the contrast is not great. More complicated scenarios are where it started to fail for me.Might need a preprocessing step with binarize and other transforms on image in such cases. Yes more complicated.-wraith808 (October 05, 2019, 04:45 PM)-Nod5 (October 05, 2019, 04:58 PM)
2. Keep separate the email address you use for important personal conversation and the email address you use to sign up to random unimportant websites.-mouser (October 02, 2019, 05:49 AM)
