General Software Discussion / Re: The Hostile Email Landscape
« Last post by skwire on October 19, 2015, 05:11 PM »
I've run my own mail server from home for about fifteen years now and came across this type of issue a couple years ago.  What I had to do was ask my ISP to create a reverse PTR record so that the reverse lookup of my IP address pointed at my mail domain instead of their pool name.  This solved the majority of the issues I was experiencing and I also thanked my lucky stars that my ISP was cool enough to allow that on a home connection.

YES   That was it.  Thank you!

You're welcome.  =]

I ran it from with the zip file.   Would that make a difference?   I figured because it shows up in the context menu that the install part was ok.

Yep, that'll make a difference.  Try this, please:

  • Download this: http://skwire.dcmemb...folder/Unreg_F2F.zip
  • Extract that zip into some folder.  Right-click the Unregister_F2F_Shell_Extension.exe file and choose Run As Administrator.  That should unregister the shell extension.
  • Put your Files2Folder.exe file where you want and run it with Administrator rights as well.  You MUST run it with Administrator rights. It should ask you if you want to register the shell extension.
  • Now try right-clicking a file now and let me know.

Hi, Paul!!!, and welcome to the DonationCoder site.   :)

I am running XP Pro SP3.  I downloaded and installed file 2 folder.  "Files 2 Folder" shows up in my context menu so it looks like the install went smoothly but when I click on it nothing happens.

Did you unpack the contents of the zip file to its own folder before running Files2Folder.exe?  Or did you click and run it from within the zip file?

Hmmm...very odd but glad to know it's working now.  Just for the record, is your Windows OS a Russian version?  Or, do you have the Russian language pack installed?  Anything like that?

After upgrading to v 1.1.5 build 1 some series names become Russian. How can i make them English again?

Try this, please:

  • Options tab > TV data > Language (set to English)
  • Click the "Refresh all series data now" button
  • Let it finish and then check to see if the issue is fixed

first, is it even possible ?

The problem that's going to be run into is that there are so many edit controls, across various programs, each with their own caret handling, that I think any attempt at a universal solution is tantamount to madness.

That URL doesn't seem to lead to a site where one can download mc2xml.  Some further cursory searches just led to a lot of dead ends.

To clarify, it goes like this:

<prefix><number><suffix><original text>

The intent was so that you could easily do things like...

#1) Original
#2) Original
#3) Original

...where "#" is the prefix and ") " is the suffix (with the number between).

If you have your Android device set properly, you should be able to connect it to your computer via a USB cable and see its file systems in Windows Explorer.  Perhaps this will let you use JR Directory Printer as before?

Hi, Babbel00, and welcome to the DonationCoder site.

Small remark tho - not earth shattering or any of the likes - but still something which could be handled more gracefully :
If you have a show with plus 100 episodes a year (e.g. The Daily Show), the moment episode 100 in a season is reached, you start adding a leading zero to the episode display format, but as long as the show is below 100 episodes, you don't. So from S20E99 you jump to S20E0100.

Sounds like a bug so I'll endeavour to fix it.

I'm in the process of switching to your created XML-files as base for creating the Media-database templates on my Mede8er player
[...]
I'm not sure if you are bothered that I use the output of your hard work, but when I saw the XML I could hardly resist to use it as input for my scripts : it's consistent and well formed, and barely lacks information I need to construct the images based on a html-template I use on my mede8er.. you even provide the episode picture-filename, thus the path to it as well.

Those XML files are actually from the TVDB.com website.  That is, I'm not creating them, just downloading them via their official API.
892
I'll consider it.   :D
893
I have not been creating a template using the pop-up window and saving it. I have just been putting $album in the Tag options field. Seeing it in the ini, made me think it was being saved there and retrieved from there. I am now thinking the ini is only showing the last used? And the templates.txt, is where the token should be saved?

Correct.  That way, you can have several templates saved and easily choose between them.  Apologies for the confusion.  =]
894
Hi Jody templates.txt file is empty

Did you click the [...] button, add the $album token to the list, and click the Save button?
895
Hi Jody, I have no entries in the tag list. I only installed a few days ago and have only used $album. to get files that had got separated back together before processing in mp3tag.

Odd.  If it's okay with you, would you mind sending me your Tags2Folders.ini and your templates.txt file?

896
What is happening is that you can create a template. $album, which gets saved to the ini on close. But when you re-open it is not reading that field from the ini, though the template is there.

Ah, I think I know what's happening.  To confirm, I'm going to guess there are a few other templates that start with "$album" in your template list, right?  If so, and until I can fix this, you can try putting your lone "$album" entry at the top of the list.

I will zip the file set and upload to the web and PM you a link.  I can get it to consistently fail.

If I load that album up in mp3Tag (my fav audio file tagger), it shows that those files have "!BAD ID3v2" tags.  They'll need to be fixed before Tags2Folders will work properly.

I have a file set that it sends to Fix Me rather than processing. It is not the first set to be processed incorrectly. It seems to be 1 in 100 or so. Only using one tag.

Is it the same file(s) consistently?  If so, can you provide me with one?

Additionally, not sure if it is a bug, but in Win 10 The tag template is not stored between sessions, though all other selections are.

I don't have, nor plan to move to, Windows 10, but this sounds like a UAC-related issue.  Two things you can try are running the app with administrator rights or move the app install folder to a non-UAC-protected location.

A few months ago, I copied my Windows 7 ClipTrap folder to a system running in a Windows 10 x64 environment (then Tech Preview and currently RTM) and it's been running A-OK.  So, Windows 10 compatible!   Just thought I'd post that up as an FYI.  Cheers.

Thank you for the report.  Much appreciated.  =]
