Perhaps the new install of farstone simply fixed some associationsWell, I could ask the coder, but since I installed 4 beta versions of 2.5 before installing the final versions I highly doubt that...-f0dder (April 25, 2006, 05:15 AM)
or other registry deep black magic?or that

Like you, jgpaiva, I never used that command. Never ever. Not once. Why would anyone would want to skin/mod such a well-hidden window? No, I mean the Winver banner, type Run->Winver to see what I mean.Oh, i didn't know about that one! But why would you want to change that dialog. You're risking messing something up, i guess a pretty strong reason would be needed to do that.-Tony291993 (April 23, 2006, 09:51 PM)-jgpaiva (April 24, 2006, 04:15 AM)

Edit 2: That "disables itself" problems happens often directly after the dimming, so it might not *only* be the optical mouse alone...Just happened again (in 2.0) just now...-brotherS (April 24, 2006, 01:59 AM)

I hereby dub Marc Echo the Global Community Daily Village Idiot.Your failure of using Ctrl-C will echo across the centuries: his name is Marc Ecko.-allen (April 24, 2006, 10:01 PM)

the vatican might be interested in hearing about the codec miracle. it's about time we had a confirmed digital miracle.-nudone (April 24, 2006, 03:35 PM)

On FastStone's site, they list this among recent improvements:No, the version I was installing was 2.5 and I also had installed 2.5 beta versions before. FIV installs no codecs, it just allows access to them in the viewer.
Version 2.4 (Mar 15, 2006)
* Video files ( AVI, MPG, MPEG, WMV, MOV) can be displayed as thumbnails in the browser. Double clicking on a video file will open it in the default media player (Screenshot)
So maybe that's where you got the codec!-m_s (April 24, 2006, 03:42 PM)
Thanks for the prompt to update my Faststone - off to download it now...You didn't add it to your list of programs at http://fileforum.betanews.com/ so you didn't get a free email for every available update?

i'm beginning to sound like brotherS.-lanux128 (April 24, 2006, 08:24 PM)

No, I don't. I let Windows switch off the monitor after some time, which not always happens because DimSaver disables itself.Just uploaded DimSaver v2.0!
Added option to change the background color and to display an image.
brotherS, do you run another screensaver after dimming?-skrommel (April 24, 2006, 04:50 PM)

Office 2.0
Is it possible to run your office completely with Web applications? Yes it is! IT|Redux has some great resources to get you started, including a killer database of Office 2.0 Web applications.
you probably installed some software that installed the proper codec. some media program. No way! It still didn't work 2 days ago, and all that I installed since then were updates of Mp3tag and FastStone Image Viewer...-mouser (April 24, 2006, 03:14 PM)

What about my "Edit 2" line? Any idea about how to track that bug down?brotherS, it does ignore mouse movement within the default drag rectangle defined in Windows.

Wouldn't it be nice if you always knew the order of the items in the Windows Taskbar?I'm using a vertical taskbar at the left side of my desktop (which has several benefits) and like the standard that Windows 2000 offers here: the oldest ones at the top, the newest at the bottom.-gadlen (April 19, 2006, 08:05 PM)
I thought about using a tool for hiding tray icons though... with 20+ icons it DOES become cluttered
Still need to find something that's 100% bugfree for Windows 2000 though...Yes, Shift always works as the 'additional qualifier'. I use it all day long, not only with Alt+TAB but also with just TAB or Pos1/Home or End. Very helpful!I often go past the one I want and have to cycle through all over again.-RedCat71 (April 21, 2006, 10:54 AM)
Note Alt+Shift+Tab moves backward through the list.-noth(a)nk.you (April 21, 2006, 12:02 PM)
(Even so, I too usually cycle through again)

I have had a slightly odd problem with DimSaver active in that my Explorer windows seem to refresh regularly. It stops when I change to a different screen saver. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just my screwed up system?Your system must really be FUBAR-Carol Haynes (April 21, 2006, 05:10 AM)
- that never happened here!Personal web logs where people talk about their feelings and if they had oatmeal for breakfast make me want to puke.True
I can see the benefit of the web log format for some people who have an audience... sort of a more frequently updated, less formal newsletter. That makes sense.-Rover (April 20, 2006, 09:10 PM)

I hate the short speak name 'blog. Are we too lazy to speak full words now?Don't be sad, people just want it short and handy: blog, torrent, mobile, PC, CNN, HIV, USA, DC
