actually according the the uk's http://carbon trust wear and tear is neglible and you should power down your pc whenever your not using it  :-\

Just the name "Carbon Trust" is enough to make me discredit just about anything it says in the name of carbon emission reduction.

http://makeitbigingames.com/blog/

All that is on the from page from Dec 07 is one on the 13th. The article before that was back in Oct 07,

It was there when I made this post the other day! In fact, I added the blog to my RSS reader and it is showing up there! I finally found a way to reproduce the article! It's in my Google Reader Shared Items.

Aha! I found it:

Dated June 12, 2006 (about 1.5 years ago!)
GarageGames.com

Also mentioned on Gamasutra.com

Carp! Now the article dated Dec 10 is missing from the Make It Big in Games blog and you can't navigate back to June 2006 because the blog is broken! That was a darn good article, too!

Deozaan,

I investigated and the problem is with the webserver/blog. The pages on that blog are returning a 302/redirect that is pointing back to itself, creating an infinite loop. Firefox is detecting this and throwing up the error message you are seeing. The webmaster/blogger will have to fix it on their side.

Thanks tinjaw. Though the article is dated Dec 10th, 2007, I swear I read it some months ago. Since it's gaming related, maybe you know from where?

Maybe Gamedev.net...

General Software Discussion / Re: Userbar Generator: Cool Freeware
« Last post by Deozaan on December 15, 2007, 04:49 PM »
Here are a few things I think would be a nice addition to the software:

1. Recognize PNG transparency for the overlay image.
2. If I click to add/change the overlay image and cancel out of the dialog box, don't make me lose my overlay image size adjustments!
3. Load/Save Project really needs to be functional!
4. Multiple Overlay Images.
5. Maybe instead of two colors for a gradient, allow the colors to be images. This would look especially nice (if done right) for left and right images that gradually fade from one into the other.
6. An icon for the program.

I can read them all just fine, Curt. They're not blurry to me.

Although I must admit that having upper and lowercase letters would really help the readability.

This would be even better if it accepted PNG transparency and could tile/repeat the overlay image.

I talked to the guy who made the latest post (Joshua Dallman) and he said the comment system broke with a WordPress version upgrade.

It's not a get rich quick scheme. It's a guy who has over 20 years experience in the video game industry giving advice on how to be successful. In the post I linked to, it even explains that going out on your own to do this can take years, and he likens it to learning to play an instrument. You practice a lot on your own and it can take a few years to get good enough to produce anything good enough other people want to listen to (or pay for!).

Nothing quick about a few years before first real sales start to happen.

I don't get it. He spent 78.5 hours inside the snowglobe? That's not that hard. People waited longer than that outside in the cold for an iPhone.

Biggest Offender:

Windows Update Restart notification window! I HATE THAT THING!

<a href="http://lifehacker.co...start-nag-289998.php">Solution</a>

There was one I heard about some time ago that let me change it so instead of asking me every 4 minutes I could change it to 24 hours or something. Anyone know about that one?

I'd like to see the mug from whoever got that, as well as the unique poster!

1. A DonationCoder Cody Mug (unbelievable!)

2. A signed picture of Cody (beautiful!)

3. A deluxe member kit and certificate of Cody Club Special Member (brain meltingly generous!)

4. A special Cody badge in your forum profile to demonstrate you entered the competition (fair!)

and for the overall winner, a signed genuinely unique limited edition of one single print special poster (absolutely insane!! <- look, 2 exclamation marks)

And a Cody badge would be great in my profile.  :-* :-[

I received my prize in the mail a few days ago. I also requested a DC Membership Kit since I never claimed one before.

What a nice surprise! I love the glossy print of the picture, signed by Cody. The postcards, iron-on-transfer, etc. are all fun too! I was especially glad to see a magnet in there. I'm not sure why, but I like it.

Also, my daughter will love the one made out to her--when she's born in 5 years. :P

Cody PC Resolution.jpg

The truth about my Daughter

I thought I was being clear when I joked about my "daughter" drawing that terrible picture I made:

This was done by my daughter. Who is -5 years old.

Then when Ralf (and others, apparently) missed the negative sign before the 5, I fessed up:

Deozaan: Too cute!  She captured the likeness of Cody perfectly.

Honestly, I did that drawing. It's like my best drawing ever. I spent three hours shading the upper lip.

But apparently it still wasn't clear. So let me make it clear: I don't have any children. Yet!

Thanks mouser and nudone!

Welcome to DonationCoder, Richard.

I don't have much to say, except that we've got a thread for longer introductions here. Feel free to read more about fellow forum members there and maybe tell about yourself a bit more there as well.

Enjoy your stay! I have been enjoying mine for the nearly two years since I signed up.

Nope - latest version.  (If you look at my first post it says "dcuppdater", with the two p's).

Jim

What I meant was maybe you have two versions installed. The old one and the new one. But since you directed me back to your first post again, I noticed you said you already thought of this.   :-[
