I'm not sure about any solutions to your problem, but I've noticed Google always forgets my preference to have more than 10 results per page, even though it remembers my Safe Search preference.

And I DO have a Google account. What's the deal with that?

No, not gaming mice. I have a Logitech TrackMan (no special buttons) and a Logitech MX 1000 Cordless Laser. The MX 1000 is too erratic with the cursor sometimes not responding or jumping across the screen suddenly so I use it on my computer I don't use very much. I also don't use any of the special buttons on it. All I need/want are right and left clicks with a scroll wheel.

Here's another article where Bill Gates says pretty much the opposite about Vista:

Are you proud of Vista, because a lot of people are questioning whether you should be.

No, I'm very proud of Vista. Like all of the products we ship as soon as we get it out we hear how we could do this differently and that differently but it has been a very important product for the industry a lot of great things were done in Vista. Now we are hard at work on what comes next.

I don't know much of anything about setting up an FTP server. Can you resume transfers at any time without any problems?

Resuming transfers is the best thing in the world. I don't understand why browsers don't do that by default.

Gizmodo's title (and mine  :) ) was only to catch people's attention.

Gotta love sensationalism in the media.  ::)

Living Room / Re: What should I do with my audio CDs?
« Last post by Deozaan on January 10, 2008, 05:55 PM »
I recently went through and tossed a ton of my CDs.

As to the legality of keeping the MP3s after getting rid of the physical discs, my rationalization is that who is to say you hadn't backed it up and lost the CD? Or you didn't get it from iTunes or other digital music service.

I still have some CDs, but most went in the dumpster because I'm too lazy to try to scrounge up a few bucks by listing them on eBay or going to a pawn/music shop. I'm not even sure if anyone would pay for them.

I suppose you could donate them to your local library...

Hey guys, check out DailyChanges.com:

ReservedDomainName.com (the domain Network Solutions is using to "reserve" these domains) has gained over 50,000 domains just today. I don't think Renegade was the only one with the script idea. I tried to click the list but it crashed Firefox.

This may be slightly off topic, but would it be considered illegal/unethical to share the original download with other people even though it was free in the first place?

And I thought the physical CD they started selling on Jan 1 had a few more songs than the download. What happened with that?

Anyway, Radiohead is a truly great band in my opinion, and in "DonationCoder" spirit I think it would be worth the low price to pay for the album to show support, even if you already got it for free.

I like Pando's more direct torrent approach, too. Great post and links, patteo, thanks!

I also like Pando for sending large files privately to other people. It's limited to 1 GB but most archiving programs can split archives up into multiple files if you need to send more than 1 GB of files.

Surely you know that the entire In Rainbows album is/was freely available for all to download? For free.

Why would you want a recording of a low quality stream when you could get the nice version free?

As for software, your computer can record anything that plays through the speakers using Sound Recorder if you configure it correctly.

The executable is buried deep in there. Some instructions on where to find it would be useful for people who might have a hard time finding it.

No. He didn't.

He may have implied that Vista needed more polish, but Windows is a long line of products and his statement was clearly not about every single Windows released.

I believe the only reason people still use them is they don't know there are alternatives.

I've never even heard of Network Solutions until now.

I use xwhois for information on domains.

I've changed my mind about kittens (and cats in general). They're not all cute, furry animals. Some are viscous creatures that will eat your food, then scratch and bite your hands.

Actually, they're ALL vicious creatures that will eat your food and then scratch and bite your hands and other body parts. The good thing is that most kittens eventually grow (mostly) out of the scratching and biting. But they never stop eating your food.

My mother got a kitten a few weeks ago from the pet store and it gave her ringworm. The doctor misdiagnosed it as something that wasn't contagious and so when the whole family was together for Christmas she spread it like the plague! Actually only 4 other people got it that I'm aware of, and her dog.

Interesting fact: Monistat 7 (vaginal cream) is an effective treatment for ringworm.
