There are few which matt cutts can't ignore like - seth godin, joel spoolsky and many others. Point is that you can't approach these guys and discuss this problem because the thing is that they hardly listen to the ground and usually communicate with people equal or above them. Another way, is creating meme on where google fails for users and share it with each other by adding their own bits. This way there will be noise (10 things google failed in 2010 type) but i'm sure atleast few things will get noticed.

I guess you have tried reporting and found out that it's not working to when it comes to reporting spammers. So google don't want to get help from their search users. Only way to work around with this is either use google's flaws against them or continue to do what you can do rank better in SE(ethically).

Samsung android is no hit here in asia. I don't know about US market or even europe market. I do expect windows tablets (what happened to their project[?] which was in beta way before apple ipad or any apple touch device. I don't think ereaders will die in next five years, in fact they'll evolve for sure. Amazon and BN targeted book readers, writers and bloggers with those products. People who use tablets still buy those ereaders because of amazon/bn backing it up.

If Google fail to deal with autoblogs a group of people should start to research and make papers explaining problem.
Why ? google is paying anyone for such reasearch outside googleplex ? they already have bunch of phd noobs who failed to improve search quality. arent' those papers which failed enough as sign ?
Autoblogs are not really a standard to go by when evaluating what is spam or not since even the most marketing crazy sites will seem pretty good in comparison.
autoblogs contain plagiarized content, which is no different than spam. spam on writing sites is rehashed content. So exactly why these autoblogs are more after 2009 ? because SEO boom was started after 2009 and autoblogs were marketed like that in this particular year if i remember warriorforum threads. what google think is autoblog is complete fail way of thinking. they let any tom-dick-harry's autoblog pass by and genuine content restricted in search engine. You can't judget google's way thinking based on their search results. Their search engine is broken to be honest.

Google has run a sting operation that it says proves Bing has been watching what people search for on Google
So one spy is blaming another ? oh irony. or even fitting ' pot calling kettle black' ? or whatever..  :D

Apparently autoblogs are not even picked up as spam so your feeling of stats probably differ from Googles.
That is because many such sties run on google adsense or adwords and kicking them is loss of revenue.

10 best linux features that kicks windows type of rants are not about copywriting or something, they're just part of content which is natural in memblogs. Plagiarism is spam, stealing content to earn money(which is more than plagiarism) is also spam, content which is not readable by humans is also spam. But google fails to notice them, not they don't disagree with that opinion of ours. They're just tied with revenue on one side and inability execute on the other side.

I have exactly opposite opinion, more and more people are moving to online writing and SEO earning so spam was less before 2009. We're seeing more spam after SEO-Boom and SE manipulation.

EE looks good to me for magazine publication, only problem is custom plugins which is going to cost more in comparison to WP. (Nothing commercial vs gpl into this though, it's because software is too complex to manage and code)

but only if you are doing a small volume of sales (I think under $1000 a year)

That's way too low. Why not they just release it under GPL like trolltech ?

By the way if you want to see such tools in action or want to chat with the tool's creator then you should definitely check out warriorforum.com and blackhatworld.com. These two forums are goldmine of SE manipulation.  Oh google already knows about them but can't do anything against them. As i said earlier, googleplex is loaded with bunch of phd noobs. ;)

About that dark planet theory, what are the co-ordinates where we can spot it ?(i'm just learning to use Kstars so maybe i can give it a try).

i mean i see no astronomical reference or hubble reference for this planet ? is it fictitious ? or maybe just in theory or something ?

They specifically say Adult Content is allowed but might require a warning
If i'm not wrong only child pornography and religious porno provocation is banned in some countries. Google follows USA's laws and so the rules applies as per that. But open tops/nudity is not usually banned on many hosting services, unless there is hardcore stuff. Okay not want to go into porn SEO. :D

About autoblog plugins there are many- wp robot (not free- used on site metroadvice. com) which is very popular from what i see on reviews. Also there are blogger.com autoblog plugins as well. By the way guys don't give backlinks to spammers, Doco is dofollow forum so this will help them for sure. :D

I know my reply is not in line with OP.  But my two cents anyway. Nowhere in mayan scripture they mentioned about re-boot of this planet or end of this planet etc. I don't understand why we are making assumption based on their inability of writing one more year in their calendar ? or do they mean their calendar will show same date backwards or from the start after 2012 because earthlings are predictable to some natural actions ?

You can never disprove what you don't know.
That means pink invisible unicorn exists ?

Any civilization, religion or tribe which wastes  time on doomsday prediction and fails to save their own life, has error in their calculations and can't be taken seriously. Apart from mayan there are other two old civilizations which got extinct and very few religions like jainism, hinduism and budhism records history of mankind and their actions. And those observations are also full of loopholes like any other religious book. So to be honest, my point is sometimes we overestimate the intellect of our ancestors. If they were to be that smart, why they never collected all of their knowledge in wikipedia :P ?(no i'm serious here apart from that wikipedia word). Any civilization which understand the calculated doomsday will try to save the species of this planet somehow and will not give sacrifice of virgin to some gods or commit suicide way before doomsday.

If I distribute GPL'd software for a fee, am I required to also make it available to the public without a charge?
No. However, if someone pays your fee and gets a copy, the GPL gives them the freedom to release it to the public, with or without a fee. For example, someone could pay your fee, and then put her copy on a web site for the general public.

Poor chris pearson- designer of thesis theme (wordpress) got screwed because of this GPL hoopla :P Seriously, if you want to make money from the software then never release it under GPL. If you want to be a hippie and 'love thy neighbor' type then go ahead GPL is for you. :D

By the way, i found a new CMS while registering to blogcritics.org. And unfortunately i lost the login details last month so i don't find any way to go inside and check the name of it. But it's very simple multi-author CMS for blog and magazine sites.

Bots and automated ranking must have difficulties in judging content with quotes/attributions and those without - can we not assume that is a parameter in 2011?

Any odd developer can fix this - there are 5 copies of the content and google knows which is the original so why not ingore the remaining 4 ? i just see no reason for google to improve from this mistake. Google has yet to remove duplicate content from the search entries. I don't know what's stopping them from doing that, why they need duplicate copies ? People overestimate google's power in case of their algorithm. It's basically a sh88t algorithm from wanna-be phd holders at google. Any tom dick and harry can copy content from other sites and rank number 1.And these phd brains in google are taking time to improve algorithm just to discard duplicate content sites and entries ? check sites like metroadvice .com -pure BS with content from yahoo answers and other sites.

Google algorithm has many flaws as of now-
1. can't differentiate between duplicate and original copies
2. have no way of detecting new sites and their content
3. have no respect for social signals and places (where people flock to discuss or read the info)
4. slaps are unjustified on many pages and sites
5. indexing and de-indexing is very poor
6. No respect to brand (for example, take case of product owner sites, you see less results to him and more to reviews of his products that's sad).

Now that we're on topic of choosing CMS, which one is good for multi-author magazine site ? (wordpress, MT,phpnuke excluded just to see scope of other CMS). What i want is ability to allow authors to post on magazine site, editors will approve the post and will go live. I have no plans of ads with this for now but soon will see about that. But i want to white-label (i.e. add magazine logo and the names) across all pages, so is there any multi-author cms to do this ?

Internet is tool of evil to connect minds of non-believers. Internet should be haram for believers. Hence, fatwa issued against internet ?   ;D

Sorry, can't help it. :D

One more suggestion, restrict signature and profile URL field if posts are less than 10 for any user.
874
Why not add text-captcha (that question answer one) to forum sign up page ?

Wordpress can do pretty much everything that you want to do with it. If you're thinking about static website and later wants to add blog to it then it'll be easy to use WP in this case than drupal or joomla.

Movable type (Opensource) is one more CMS with which i'm experimenting and not sure whether to suggest others as of yet. Habari good for blogging but not consistent with regular development and support. Text-pattern is too complex for me to manage stuff. Magnolia- used twice to setup simple sites and it's set it and forget it type of solution. SilverstripeCMS suitable for static sites, not sure if there is any blog add-on to it.
