What is interesting about InputDirector is that most of my usb units work on other computer like external usb volume dial and my wacom tablet.

InputDirector is amazing. It has seamless integration, copy pasting of files-clipboard is well supported! Make sure that you have shared directories enabled.
 

I must have a look at the Input Director, sounds very interesting. And they say it has the shared clipboard option - I hate the frustration when you want to simply copy a line from one PC to another, and constantly bump into the idea of using the clipboard.

I so hate being negative about things that people spend time to make it especially when they do not charge you anything for it I wish that this was also a real email client. I think that it would have been picked up by people quicker. At this point it is like a mutant software that just does not fit any category.

I think that they wanted to create something very simple that could be used for basic groupware, gtd, adress book and note taking. To certain degree I think it achieves it.

As I mentioned before thou  I just do not understand why they have not turned this thing into a real email client as well. It has major email functions but it only supports imap with special folders. In my view that was a very dumb desicion.

Well, Chandler is not just a pim thou. If you have chandler server or server account you can sync your data with any chandler server. It also has web interface that works on the server which makes it very mobile.

On the otherhand as far as note taking and data management goes, it is nowhere near Sqlnotes that is for sure.

-near instant startup
-please, no registry
-simple easy cloning-mirroring of operating system on other machines
-if possible make it free (No ads supported OS)
-security should be the most important part of the os design
-simplified hardware-driver management
-please use encrypted drives, even for system files
-better default firewall and network manager(xp and vista`s network-firewall managers are a joke compared to commercial or free firewalls)

I just do not understand why they cannot support standard email client features as well? I need to use Thunderbird to accommodate that. Just creates one more layer of softwawre to get things done.

sounds similar to my Farr problem.

Hi,
i don't know if this is related, but i recently also have a problem with Farr being unresponsive. it says "Searching Alias ..." and hangs up (well: i can type something, but it doesn't respond to it at all). Task Manager shows processor usage of well above 70% for farr-process. It might have something to do with table search plugin, but i can't really pinpoint the problem, because its working most of the time. Error still occurs quite often.

Mouser, I was wrong about farr being stable. Actually it looks like cpu usages hikes. I have 4 cpus I did not feel it but my task manager shows high usage when Farr is in this state.

I already use noscript which is great. But what else do DC people use for security inside Firefox.  I looked at the Firfox addon topic but that has become so long that it is kind of impossible to read and try all those addons. More content spesific Firefox addon page like security addons would be more appropriate at this point I think.

Another culprit could be the internal html view as well. One alias I use frequently  uses html viewer (with copy text option in its shortcut) and that one fails Farr quite alot.

when Farr becomes unresponsive I cannot actually use "exit" to quit. It just does not work. I need to use task manager to kill farr process.

Google adsense is so widespread it is like virus, it is google nonsense to me anymore. I get so many wrongly diagnosed direct advertisements which means that whatever they are showing has no relationship to my liking or needs. Anyways I have never clicked on a banner in my whole life. So I would block any ad as much as I can. If the visitor needs to support his favorite website then s/he needs to find other means and ways.

I typed "notepad" to show you that nothing comes up. Normally it should search and list you know.

When it hangs or becomes unresponsive, it is not like application crash or freezing. It is just that it stops bringing any result. I can actually click on preferences and open it. So definetely Farr is stable in memory but no activity.

I cannot pinpoint the pattern. But generally this happens when I have special shortcut version of Farr with "copy selected text" enabled.

I am under 64bit xp.

I noticed RSSOwl version 2.0 is in development. They have a very informative five part flash demo (made in wink) up at http://boreal.rssowl.org/ . Some really interesting new features have been added (group tagging, smart saved searches as filters and much more). I think RSSOwl will be a really strong competitor to GreatNews in the freeware slot. I'm not sure how it compares with GreatNews resource wise though, since it uses Java.

winxp64 has been very stable, so I like it alot. Not my favorite but it is definetely good work horse.
