Why does this thread keep asking me to accept a certificate from localhost.localdomain? No other place on this site asks me for it. It's just this thread.

Unfortunately it will be a piece of crap that is as slow as molasses as it is hacked out in Python. Why don't you use a real language like C++.  ;)

QFT! Tinjaw is encouraging someone to use C++ instead of Python!!!!!!   :o

@Deozaan

The address for Google Define is http://www.google.co...search?q=define%3A%s (you could bookmark the link or create a search. saves typing in "define: ..." in the search box.

True, but that would take longer to change my default search from a dropdown list than to type in "define:". And I'm kind of strange because I don't use bookmarks. At all.

I don't get it. From the original post and f0dder's comment and the warning at the beginning of the game, I was led to believe that this was a difficult game.

I'm on this level and haven't had any frustrations yet:

Black Circle.png

EDIT:

Okay maybe I spoke too soon. The one pictured above did take some time to figure out, but I got it after a couple minutes of trying. This one is hard because the physics are not spot on. You actually have to stop rotating the background to get gravity to have an effect on the ball. It will keep going whatever direction it is going until you stop rotating and it realizes that there is a new "down" it needs to worry about.

Speaking of Online Banking... well this is a little different, but take a look at this:

Online Savings Accounts

If your bank is like mine, your savings account is making something near 0.25% interest annually. Well, this page (from GetRichSlowly.org) reviews online savings accounts that have rates from 2.75% to 3.85% APY.

Apparently ING Direct is the most recommended because you don't have to jump through hoops or "play any games" to get the advertised rate, plus if you get a referral they will give you $25 to help start your savings account. Check it out and find what's right for you if you want to make a little more interest on your savings.

That was a really good presentation.

The interesting thing about it, and which she should know well from her experience with her brother, is that it isn't normal to experience that kind of thing with a healthy, functioning brain. The euphoria and feeling of being one with the universe is probably very unlikely to happen to someone who is healthy. The only time we hear stories like this is when people are very sick or have a near-death experience, or drug induced hallucinations; it's very obvious that they're unhealthy and not in their "right mind" when these things happen.

I don't mean to sound a cynic. I have been called idealistic, and I do dream of a better, more peaceful world.

It makes me wonder, though, has anybody here experienced something similar? Some euphoric, or peaceful feeling of being separated from yourself as an individual and whole with all around you? (I'm not asking for details of drug trips.)

I have.

Cool, how did you add capture mode? My level has the basics down when it comes to level design, but how to actually script bases and capture points is still beyond me.

You Need a Budget is software in the likes of MS Money and Quicken, except it actually does something right that these other two "expensive" applications don't: It helps you budget.

Quicken and MS Money usually are just about tracking your expenditures. You log how much money comes in and where it goes out, but it doesn't help you plan and budget. It's more like just balancing your checkbook.

You Need a Budget has some guidelines to help you stop living paycheck to paycheck, make an effective budget, and actually makes it very easy to deal with emergencies or accidentally going over your budget.

As with most useful financial things: It's not a quick solution. It takes a change in behavior for it to really be effective. I just found out about it 4 days ago, so I'm not very far into it myself, but it all sounds like very good advice and I plan on making it a part of my life as soon as possible.

Check out the website at You Need a Budget.com and be sure to read the main page, especially the 4 rules.

I recently found out about You Need a Budget.com, which is a blog. The guy also designed some software and came up with 4 rules which help you stop living paycheck to paycheck, budget properly, get out of debt, prepare for rainy days, and just in general save money.

Be sure to read the main page and especially the 4 rules.

Hmph!  Not unexpected but depressing despite that.
-cranioscopical (March 26, 2008, 09:35 PM)

It was unexpected to me. I was at least expecting another lame "We understand that you might be frustrated" letter with no real action.

They did say they'd try to respond within 48 hours with their automated e-mail response.  :-\ I expected something lame and unsatisfactory, but I didn't expect nothing at all.

Well I settled on Active Desktop Caldendar for Windows XP. It doesn't seem to have the countdown timer but it has the calender and todo list and stuff.

It's pretty good and I'm happy with it.

Is there a link to info on the album somewhere?

Just one question, where in the first amendment does it say free speech is an anonymous right?
It's one thing to affirm it's the nature of the web and yadda, yadda, but to wrap up hateful and harassing speech into something as noble as "free speech" is a bit of a stretch.
If free speech is such a noble human right then why be afraid to claim ownership of it?

Or maybe everyone on the web is all about rights without responsibility?
Pretty shallow stance IMO.

That's part of what I was originally trying to say: In a way, I think it would be good to require your real name, just like most sites require a real e-mail address. But I also don't like the idea of everyone everywhere knowing my name. I'd rather it be hidden from everyone, also like most sites that require a real e-mail address.

Then again, if John Q. Public makes a fan website with a little forum about how great Xbox is, I don't see the point in it requiring real information from me. Just like when I go to a store and buy something, I don't need to tell them my name and address and phone number.

A lot of stores these days will ask for your phone number for some reason. I just tell them they can't have it. Obviously if I'm buying something with a credit/debit card, the card will contain information leading back to who I am. But that's all done through my bank. The store doesn't keep a record of my card number and bank details, and therefore have no direct way of knowing who I am.

I don't really need to be anonymous, but in the information age where any idiot/wacko/criminal who knows how to run Google can find nearly any bit of information, I'd rather keep most of my personally identifying information private. I'll gladly attribute anything I say to my username, but I don't want just anybody to find out who I am or where I live.

The world is smaller than it was when the Declaration of Independence was signed. There are a lot more people in our lives than there were then. That means a lot more idiots and wackos out there who might do something stupid just because they disagree with me. In the old small-town lifestyle, criminals and wackos were basically run out of town. These days they are protected. I say keep my information away from them!
8497
I can understand the reasons: anonymous threats, trolling, griefing, etc., whatever you want to call it.

And to be honest at first thought it sounds like a good idea to have your real name somewhere, to track down abusers. But to make it mandatory for everyone to see who you are? Not good.

I'm for anonymous posting, but it would be nice if there were better ways to track down the people who do stupid stuff like terrorize or threaten others. I remember a certain incident with Kathy Sierra where tracking down and punishing the jerks who threatened her would have been really useful.

But there's a great quote (which I can't remember exactly) that's been spread around a lot since the Patriot Act came to town, something along the lines of: "Those who give up personal liberties for the feeling of security deserve neither."

Alas, 95% of my gaming is console gaming . . .

I love Test Drive Unlimited, but play it on my Xbox 360 not PC -- I'm pretty sure the online functions of the two are completely separate.

Yeah, it's still rare to see the merging of PC/console online. The only game I can think of that does it is Final Fantasy XI, though I'm sure there are some others.

I added your Xbox Live Gamertag thingy to the list. :-D
