(Also, I still don't know why Translator B. Working at all, given the Google API issue.  Perhaps Mouser can chime in.)

i don't use google API, i fetch a normal web page query and parse the results.

Web Link Captor / Re: Latest Web Link Captor Release - v1.11.01 - Dec 17, 2013
« Last post by mouser on December 17, 2013, 10:54 AM »
Minor update:

v1.11.01 - December 17, 2013
  • [Feature] Scripts now create different temporary filenames in temp directory to make it much easier to debug where a search or manipulation script went wrong.
  • [Documentation] Added help information for how to narrow a search to a specific site in google and how to add text to input.
  • [BugFix] Excerpts in result grid that contained newlines were messing up the result grid (and potentially the results).
  • [Feature] Option to check for updates at startup.

Although Web Link Captor has basically 0 users, I still maintain it is one of my coolest apps.  One of these days some blogger who has real use for it is going to discover it and be happy.

I can be a fan of dark humor, but i must admit the humor escapes me...

Anyway, back to the original question..

I've never been much of a fan of peanut butter and the idea of peanut butter on potato chips sounds disgusting.

But in a related vein, chocolate covered pretzels are incredible.

ps. I use Web Link Captor to automatically find and add web links to a plain text list and format the output.

SC should work well with all manner of multiple monitors, but your setup is probably whats confusing it, for some reason..

So I heavily suspect it has to do with Windows updates I "stupidly" allowed a few days ago for all kinds of .NET stuff.
Could that be it?

unlikely.  it sounds like perhaps some kind of bug with sc identifying the screen dimensions..

does it ONLY happen when trying to do a select-region capture?

what OS?

how many monitors do you have?

Screenshot Captor / Re: Screenshot Captor - Copy Image to Clipboard by default
« Last post by mouser on December 15, 2013, 03:44 PM »
I think my screenshot may have been misleading since i had a different option chosen than the one you need.

You want the "Copy to clipboard:" option to say "Image Bitmap".

Does this help:
Screenshot - 12_15_2013 , 3_43_38 PM_ver001.png

I've tested that option and it works well to let you paste into MS Word after a capture.

glad you like it!

a setting that will copy my capture to the clipboard by default.

of course:

Screenshot - 12_15_2013 , 11_31_33 AM_ver001.png

So if you set that to capture the image (or path, your choice) to the clipboard after each capture, you probably also want to set the program to stay minimized in the system tray after each capture, rather than presenting you with the post-capture dialog.  You'll find that option on the Interface Options tab or on the post-capture dialog itself (or in system tray menu).

Update:

v1.10.01 - Dec 15, 2013
  • You can now create a "manual" position bar, and set its position at any time by clicking on the bar itself.
  • New option (set by default) to not force the panel on top when docked or when a full screen app (like a screensaver) is running.

With the new manual bar item, you can make progress bars that you can freely adjust just by clicking on them.

General Software Discussion / Google ranking change turns table on spammers
« Last post by mouser on December 13, 2013, 09:25 PM »
People on this site know that i'm not a huge fan of google and the incentives they have created that favor spammers and advertisers.

But the web is buzzing with a few articles today about some recent changes that have spammers scrambling to remove spammy links that are now going to end up penalizing instead of helping them.

The search engine optimization community has spent the last two years in a panic. SEO people flood our Internet with spam links and fake Twitter bots and paid traffic, to help bad websites look more popular than they are, to deliver fake viewers to web ads.

They now spend their lives on the run, Google nipping at their heels. Their biggest project? Removing all the spam links on websites like this one—the spam links that they put there.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Capture Delay!?
« Last post by mouser on December 13, 2013, 09:16 AM »
First, check to make sure you don't actually have the delay option enabled.
You can find that in the tray menu under Capture Options -> Use Delay.

Assuming not, see if it's only the FIRST capture that is slow, after not having used SC in a long time, with subsequent captures being fast.  If so, you should try the option that cmpm mentioned about changing the "Inactive Memory Use".  In this case it could also be a hard disk that's sleeping, for which there is no easy fix.

(no more than 5 people or so).

with so few people, you ARE a good candidate for some of the more unusual boutique forum software, and smf may be overkill.

and you may benefit from not having to host it yourself.  maybe something like Disqus?

Latest is: FCalc - 1.11.01 (Feb 14th, 2012) by mouser <[email protected]>

so, first things first -- get yourself the latest version and let me know if problem persists.

ah, you mean farr is crashing and exiting for you in those cases!
seems it must be the divide by zero causing it to crash, but it shouldn't crash it should just report the divideby zero

let's check your version. do this:

type fc `

to clear history and show the version.

now tell me what version it says you have of fcalc.
