Skrommel's Software / Re: Problems with Ghoster
« Last post by skrommel on October 07, 2005, 05:20 PM »
:-\ "... after running Ghoster" is a problem. I should really clean up before exiting, but the quick solution is to activate the task bar before quitting.

:) What's really needed is a replacement for the copy function in Windows.

So far I've been using TotalCopy from http://www.ranvik.net/totalcopy/. But it crashes, and you can't control how to handle error conditions before they occur, like in the middle of a one hour copy!

So I've made my own, but I've yet to make a proper context menu.

Does anyone know a simpler way of adding a drag and drop context menu, without all the COM noise?

:) The WINDOW window is the one covering the screen, and since it has to be on top, I don't know how to remove it from the Alt-Tab-chain.

The speed is the limited by AutoHotkey, so I can only recommend you buy a faster PC.  :)

How does it interfere?

I'll look into it.

:) I thought this one would be simple, but there's all kinds of things to watch, so just test it and let me know if it works out.

MinimOther - Minimize all windows except the one active.

Feautures:
- Won't minimize dialog boxes.

You'll find the downloads and more info at Skrommel Software.

The biggest problem is how to handle dialogboxes - minimize them and the dissappear, or they lock up the parent app. Maybe I'll put in ShowDialogsToo so they can be recovered.

:) If you compile Ghoster.ahk into Ghoster.exe and update your script to show exe instead of ahk, it should run properly. There's no process called Ghoster.ahk, it shows as AutoHotkey.exe.

What's the problem with tabbed windows?

Unfinished Requests / Re: IDEA: tiny statistics window for Azureus
« Last post by skrommel on October 05, 2005, 04:59 PM »
:) If you don't want it too small, you can use WinWarden to automatically move, resize, ontop and clip the Azureus windows when it's inactive.

Activate the status tab, and try there settings:

;WinWarden.ini
Active     ,Azureus,,,,0,0,Right,Bottom,Off,Off,,Off,,,,,,,,Maximize
Deactivated,Azureus,,,,-Right,-Bottom,200,400,On,Off,,20,180,160,180,,,,,Restore

You'll find the downloads and more info at Skrommel Software.

 Do you have Grouping enabled in the task bar's Properties? In that case, the dialog box will show up on the same tab as it's parent. I could of course change the parent, but I can't stand the grouping of the task bar buttons anyway, so I say disable it! And just move the taskbar to the right edge of the screen to make room for more buttons.

Try the on I just uploaded. I made it disable the hotkeys instead of halting the entire program.

:) Multimonitor support should be possible, I'll look into it.

And I really should add a cleanup routine in there, too, to put back the ontop windows. But if you activate the desktop before closing Ghoster, all is OK!

I thought I put an option in the Ghoster.ini to not dim the taskbar? Yes, showontop=1 should take care of that. It also makes all other ontop windows peek through, so maybe I'll add an extra option for just the taskbar...

ShowDialogsToo - Shows dialog boxes on the task bar.

Feautures:
- Enable or disable by doubleclicking the task icon.

You'll find the downloads and more info at Skrommel Software.

It's not quite what you asked for, but ShowDialogsToo at least makes it easier to switch between file property windows.

I couldn't catch the windows before they were created, so to make it work, I had to hide and show the windows as they were found, which causes a flicker.

 :) Try AutoHotkey from www.autohotkey.com.

A simpel script like this will work:

;Notify.ahk
~^c::
ToolTip,Ctrl-C pressed.
Sleep,2000
ToolTip
Return

~!Tab::
ToolTip,
Return

 :) Try WinWarden v1.2!

It autoreloads when the ini file is saved. And I've also added centering of the active window when the tray icon is doubleclicked.

:) And then there's the odd stroke of inspiration...

Check out BigByte v1.1!

With a little help from DOS it will fill your harddisk a lot quicker! So be careful! It creates a 1 byte file and doubles it until it's big enough, then copies the needed files together and deletes the rest.

:) AutoHotkey really isn't up for this task,  being without binary file support, and as a script language it's quite slow, but here goes a version with code stolen from Chris at the AutoHotkey forum.

BigByte - Create accurately sized files.

Feautures:
- Very slow on big files! Much faster on big files!
- Create binary or ascii files.

:) Try this one! I don't own a multimedia keyboard, so please let me know if it catches all the keys.

ToddlerTrap - Disables mouse and keyboard input to stop toddlers messing up your PC, or to allow for cleaning.

Edit: Changed the name to ToddlerTrap, and added a few more keys.
