Deo recommended searching youtube for the phrase "Let's Play", and it's yielded some excellent results.

I can see that different users make very different playthroughs, and the trick is to find one that matches your tastes.

I started watching a giant playthrough of a game that very much but which i do not want (nor have the time to) play, Witcher 3, and can highly recommend this player:

Ahh, it was YOU who revived this 5 year old thread haha...I wondered when the hell I posted in this...then I looked at the date haha

Living Room / Re: How do you resist buying ever more powerful PCs?
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on July 20, 2015, 06:01 PM »
So, recently I purchased my stepson a serviceable refurbished Win7 machine. And while shopping, naturally I find a unit or two that I sure wouldn't mind having:

Intel Quad Core 3.4GHz i7-4770 32GB 1TB SSD + 2 x 3TB 7200rpm RAID 1 HDD Windows 7 Professional...

Thing is, my current setup (Win 7 Ultimate, 6 GB RAM, 1 TB HDD with a 2.8 GHz cpu) is more than adequate for my simple needs: a bit of programming, web browsing, proofreading for pay, emailing.

So I've learned over the years to resist these urges and usually in 2-4 weeks they pass. How do you deal with them?

I don't resist the urge...my bank balance (or lack-thereof) does that for me.  ;D

Washington DC – The IEEE have produced a report today where they strongly recommend that from now on, the discipline of Computer Programming should be officially renamed to “Googling Stackoverflow”.

“We are recommending a root-and-branch name change to this discipline”, said President of the IEEE, Thomas M. Conte.  “We are even going to change the official name of the IEEE Computer Society to the IEEE Quick Look At StackOverflow Society”.

“We are furthermore recommending that all universities across the planet should cease to award Bachelors degrees, Masters or PhDs in computer programming or software engineering and instead they should award these degrees in Googling Stackoverflow.”

“We are also considering renaming “P-values” to “Reviewer Pacifiers”.”

Most of my passwords are pretty complex, I've just always made a point of remembering them (Although I've always been good with remembering things like this...but useless at remembering peoples names/birthdays haha)
806
Am I the only person in the world who just remembers all of his passwords, instead of trusting any service (be it online or offline) to store it?
807
Not too sure if this is exactly what you want (and it hasn't been updated in over 2 years) but I made this: https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=34461.0

Might help you in this situation (Although, if I read this thread and got it completely wrong, feel free to ignore me!) :D

If you're writing a HTML page it's ampersand, tic-tac-toe, 163 semicolon.

tic-tac-toe....this is exactly how I am going to refer to the hash key from now on!

Looking the code, it seems to be standard video, with JS set to overlay at certain times.
-Stephen66515 (June 11, 2015, 06:49 AM)

I presumed he meant what was used to create the video animation - that's what I'd be wondering about anyways...

Agreed.  The question is in the production, not the implementation.

I forgot I even replied to this post...must have been half asleep when I did lol

Character Map used to be in the Accessories group in the Start Menu, but disappeared in Windows 7.

IIRC, it got moved to Windows System menu group, (or something similar).

You can also just type "charmap" (without quotes) into "Run" and it will open.

I don't see why a modder can't expect to get paid for their work (As somebody was ranting about in the other thread that lead me here) - Why should they spend potentially hundreds (if not thousands) of man hours creating something fantastic, only for the community to call them greedy for hoping to make some $$$ from it....yet the same community don't see how hypocritical they are being by ACTUALLY being greedy and EXPECTING it for free.

Yes I like to get things for free (Who doesn't?)  But I would never bitch about a developer/modder hoping to get paid for his/her work.

I live in a crappy little village that seems to have more sheep and cows than actual people...and yet I am still only a 15 minute drive from ASDA (Or Walmart as you call it) and the same distance from a Tesco (Like ASDA...Only better) o.O
-Stephen66515 (June 07, 2015, 03:12 PM)

could you get there (easily) without a car though?

Yeah, about a 30 minute walk from each - Tesco is covered by a bus route, and ASDA is not quite covered (but only a 5 minute walk from the nearest stop) - Tesco is also super easy from here via train because it shares a carpark with the railway station and takes about 30 seconds from the train, to the store :D

In my case, it was my antivirus.  That's when I finally got rid of AVG.
@mouser, didn't you say in another thread you are running AVG on (some of) your system(s)? :o

Good catch, he says it here: (Internal Forum Link): 365 day trial of AVG AntiVirus 2015

Mouser, release a version with less features or ads as a free version and you will add a few 0's to the end of that number, same with your Hotrod panel :D

Lots can cause this sort of issue.  I see it a lot dealing with domain environments.  I would highly doubt it's bad ssd or hardware related at all.

I've had the issue quite a few times, and pretty much every single time it was simply a botched install of something, a botched update of something, or something that was required on startup had gone mad....every single time, a reboot was the cure to the problem and it started working just fine.

Backups are a good plan mouser, but, when it comes to the user profile problem...usually a reboot is all it takes - It may well have been something as simple as your PC has decided it would be a fun idea to try load one thing before another thing...when doing so would result in failure.

My only experience with Mac:

Went into my old work place, and they asked if I could get the specs for an old POS Apple Computer they found in one of the storage rooms. (One of those that just looks like an old CRT TV) - It took me a good minute to find out how to turn it on...then when it was on, I tried to find the browser (couldn't) - Then tried to find the control panel (couldn't) - Then tried to find any sort of reference to what the hell I was doing.....After 30 minutes, I gave up, turned the machine off, and they put it back in the storage room (Where I hope it will stay until it rots).

Thanks for that. It's good to see Windows 7 starter edition is also included. I never quite liked it on my Acer netbook, so this might be a way of getting rid of it and trying out Win 10 at the same time.

I've only just got used to the Metro crap in 8.1...but won't be sad to see it go lol

Living Room / Desura have gone bankrupt!
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on June 05, 2015, 05:16 PM »
From: http://www.kitguru.n...a-has-gone-bankrupt/

The online game marketplace, Desura, has filed for bankruptcy shortly after reports that developers had not been paid for their sales on the platform. The lack of payment for small indie developers has apparently been going on for months, similarly to when Crytek UK were having issues and could not pay their employees.
Desura is owned by Bad Juju Games, the acquisition was only just made in November last year. The original creator of Desura was Linden Lab.

So Windows 10 is on the way and those of you who own a genuine license for either Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 will be getting the free upgrade on the 29th of July. However, Microsoft had not fully detailed exactly which version of the operating system you would be upgrading to until now.

On a new Windows 10 question and answer page, Microsoft tried to answer quite a few common questions about the upcoming upgrade, including details on exactly which version of Windows 10 users will be receiving, as there are quite a few, which we have reported on previously.
