It can monitor 15 different types of events and execute different actions in case of an event.

I don't know what those actions are that can be executed.

On my XP setup. I had drive C for XP and a Recovery Drive D.
I Used Easeus Partition manager to make C / XP half of the drive,
formated drive D and made it larger-the other half of the drive.

Installing W7 in advanced mode allowed me to install into drive D.
Running W7, it became drive C, Runnung XP it was drive C.
And the other not running operating system was drive D.

Certainly do a backup before trying.
If you don't already have a drive D to manipulate, make one.
It may work for you as it did for me.
Or because of the way my particular computer operates.
Don't know and not sure.

From ghacks gizmo, but I can't get the blog to load at this time.
But anyway this player finds all your music on the computer and lists them for your choice to play.
I like it's speed. And a lot of options if chosen.

Found Deals and Discounts / Re: Phone Disk-Until September December 1st 2010
« Last post by cmpm on October 24, 2010, 10:18 AM »
iPad, iTouch or iPhone Disk Mode is made easy with Phone Disk. Using your standard USB cable, this tiny program runs in the menu bar or system tray of your Mac or PC. When it finds an iPod Touch or iPhone it seamlessly mounts it to your file system so you can directly access its files using Windows Explorer, Finder and every other program.

I think Windows XP and 7 auto find what you plug into it.
Maybe even iStuff, certainly everything else, if the driver is there.
And it usually is.

My point is this is a special program to do what it should do any way.
It's all iSomething, these devices should be that smart.

iRant....

Yes the keyboard switch is it's function, and translation is a side item to LangOver.
'Control+T'
If I understand correctly.
You can see why I didn't try to explain it.

Thanks tomos, I was wondering what other similar programs are out there with this thread.

Plenty of translators but adding some extras that are helpful along with it may make it worth running in the background.

I thought this 'LangOver' program may be useful for many here.
It has more than translation abilities.
Rarst.net describes it better than me so.....

http://www.rarst.net/software/langover/

If such an app is needed it seems to provide more than Google Translate.
It does have to run in the tray though.

Is this in windows 7 only or XP as well?

I ask cause I have had the 'not responding' problem with windows 7 but not XP.
Same extensions, same FF setup, same computer.

Yes, very critical.

Kind of funny in a way though.
Since I have my other email address accounts in my contacts.
I spammed myself. :)
That's part of how I figured out what was happening.

I apologize if you received this spam.

Someone has found my email and password with my Gmail account.
And used my account to send spam.
Changing the password fixed it though.

From searching for answers I found some do this for spamming your contacts.
Which they did, until Gmail blocked the account for suspicious activity.
Rightfully so, and I'm glad they did.

I'm wondering how they did it.

One thing I learned was to not use the same password for forums that you use for email or other things.
This is possibly how they got my info. And the best answer I could find.

I have no virus' or any spyware on my computer that I know of.
Still I ran full scans of Nod, SAS, and mbam-still nothing.

I know it was not DC, but I suspect another forum.
Question - How can I find out who done it? Is it possible?
Reading what others said, only turned up China based outfits engaged in this activity....
?
I'm not in China or a Chinese forum.

I am in a few forums though...5 or 6 I think.

Instead of two different modes, I was thinking two different menu choices.
Basic and Advanced, or Quick and Detailed, depending on your thoughts of how to satisfy two groups of users.
The main idea is just to change the menu layout and not having two programs.
Just one program with simple and advanced menus.

Thanks Stoic, yes user serviceable is a consideration for sure.
Also the price of the drum and how long it will last.
I saw some packages that included an extra toner cartridge and drum.
So I had to find out what the drum is and it's life expectancy.

And the heads up on the WiFi is appreciated.

Do color graphics come out ok with a laser? I don't know.
I don't do much printing, but when I do it's usually text or a receipt.
So a mono laser would be fine for me.

The convenience of an inkjet color printer for graphics like a Canon, for quality,
and a mono laser is a good combo for my needs.

Doing a lot of color graphics is worth the trouble to go to a store and use their printing setup, like a lot of drug stores or Walmart have in the photo department. Just to save ink at home.

And having a scanner on either a laser or inkjet is cool, or even a separate scanner is nice.

The school I work for uses Brothers similar to what superboyac posted.
And the toner has more pages per cartridge then the Samsung I posted.
Per cartridge is cheaper too. A plus for sure.
I don't know the model we have at work but we have 100's of them.
One for each classroom, and a few super duty monster printers that can do everything.

WiFi is a nice addition.
Just rambling on here....
As I consider spending money...

I found this useful and easy to work with.
Not as annoying as one window taking up half the screen.
Multiple monitor support.
And I don't install very many tweaks to the standard W7 features.
It does run in the background.

some printers
take into considering a printer by the price of the toner
for color, that's 4 toner cartridges-$200 worth of toner for one of these

http://www.tigerdire...76001&CatId=2713
http://www.tigerdire...er-Printers&Nav=|c:244|&Sort=0&Recs=10
not sure if that link works, but it does from searching tigerdirect, just not in this post

further reading

http://desktoppub.ab...te/a/measure_dpi.htm
wikipedia -printer dpi- is more detailed but not simply explained, if it can be

11 x 17 gets into some expense

http://www.pcrush.com/11x17printers

Of course now you have me considering one.
One thing I like is the style of the laser printer.
The paper is in an enclosed slot, reducing dust build up on the paper.

Those Samsungs look nice, the first one on tigerdirect's page.
I like the scan function, I have no land line, but I can fax to my own computer,
for some unknown reasoning to me yet.

I look at how many thousands a month, the higher or better is good I guess.
Not sure why it's measured like that, perhaps it's about business production.
I don't know if it stops after the output of 50,000 or 20,000 a month or what it means.

The earlier kids learn computers the better.
The good bad and ugly.

Keeping a safe guard such as a clean backup is wise.

And, there is no way they are not going to get trouble using the net.
Without locking it down to 'no fun at all'.

Adblock is good, but teaching how to handle the trouble that slips past that is good too.
Just my dealings with it come to mind. And my opinions.

Soon enough they will be teaching you some things that you didn't know about some computer stuff.

The family safety built into XP, will kill most everything-not recommended.

The rest of Bamse's suggestions are good.

I'd make a backup of the entire system when it's in good shape.
Save yourself the trouble of hunting down changes.
http://www.macrium.com/reflectfree.asp
Macrium free can make a full backup to anywhere you want it.
And it will erase and restore.

I have two boys as well and they started even earlier then those ages.
Which I would say, it is good for them to learn the computer and keyboard early.
But also to learn how to fix what they screwed up.

Malwarebytes and SAS are worth the money for full time protection imo.
Also a firewall will make them think. Plenty of free ones there.

I could use one for my cell phone if I use the net on it.
I can read email in plain text but the rest is useless on a 1 inch screen.
