This is a *great* utility!  I have a quick question- does this (or especially the pay version) have the ability to shell out commands?  I'd like to put a command in there to do a get from TFS.  I was also thinking of purchasing the pro version, and wanted to know if it would be able to be integrated into a workflow that includes TFS (and others).

Thanks for the utility!

Unfortunately, this helped me, as my machine just crapped out, and I would have been stumped as to why it wouldn't boot with just my boot drive installed.

text with no other window elements would be very nice if that were possible - but I would still have the problem of what colour to make the text -
Here's the Rainlender notes "window" with some sample text - it seems to have a background with a tone as opposed to a colour (?) i.e. it darkens the background colour which help the text show clearly.
(see attachment in previous post) (see attachment in previous post)

It's not darkening it- it's a transparent overlay.  The transparency is blending with the background (i.e. the degree of transparency) and that's where the darkening is coming from.

To me the most important thing is that those who died on 9/11 are honored and remembered in positive ways.

Agreed, with emphasis put on the positive by me above.  There are two types of tributes in my opinion/experience- constructive remembrances and the equivalent of pyres.  I hope that we're to the point where we can be constructive in our remembrances.

my understanding might be wrong

Mine might be as well. I'm sorry for any confusion I've added. Please don't take offense at anything I've said, I often see connections that to other people aren't really there.

Oh, not your comment.  I do appreciate the perspective that you gave- it made me think about the fact that my understanding of the original post might indeed have been incorrect.

I'll take one last stab at this. I'm simply agreeing with app that citing a line from a poem which is loosely associated with a religion is a very poor basis for disallowing the building of a structure by members of that religion. Beyond that, I don't care, or it's a choice of either declaring it a self evident truth or writing a 10 page essay, and I don't have time for it, nor am I as eloquent as app.

I didn't get that from her post.  Which is why I posted the other- my understanding might be wrong.  And with the other (unneeded?) comment on this exchange, I'll withdraw from the conversation.

^ You might want to put a little blurb above whatever you have in the center of your two textblocks with the name of the site; Whatever you have between doesn't show up for me, so your post seems a bit lacking in details. :)

Sorry. Come again?

I see now it's a Youtube video (from the tags).  But youtube isn't always available.  Re-read your post without the video.  It's not really understandable, at least IMO from seeing it in that manner, so I was suggesting to maybe say the name of what you're referring to, as it's not specified in your post anywhere.

That looks cool!  Thanks for sharing!  I've never been sold on the whole technique- but this will make me give it a try!

Which brings me back to an idea i had a couple of years ago, which would be to make simple but distinct paths for users..

  • So imagine a software page where it had a fixed price on it: $29.95 which you click to buy like normal software purchase.
  • But also a button saying: Show me alternatives to paying this.
  • If they click on that button they have choices like: I want to choose how much to donate; I cannot afford to pay anything now; I am not willing to pay anything but I would still like to use the software; etc.

That reminds me a lot of that payment form where you choose to take a deal instead of paying cash for the project (I can't remember what the name of it is now).  I wonder how different their conversion rates are because of that option... though this is a bit different, it still falls into that pattern of "I have to click something else to get the other options, so maybe I don't want to" trap.

I think that perhaps the humble indie bundle way might work better, i.e. show all of the options up front, but show the average donation, and one of the options is the average in addition to the set price.

+1 for the Xbox 360 and Kinect.

It's a BLAST... Games are pricey, though.

I look for deals- I've not paid over $30 for any games (other than Kinectimals because my wife got it spur of the moment at Wal-Mart).  Gamefly is good also, especially to see if you want to keep them (and then the keep price is a whole lot less than the buy price in most cases).

And it seems that he was citing something that wasn't there in order to incite violence?  At least from the charges... so I don't think they're really similar.

I can't offer an actual comparison, because my experience with Wii is very limited. But I can tell you that my 360 with Kinect leaves me sweating, so it would seem that I'm getting some aerobic exercise.

Before getting a Kinect, ensure that you've got sufficient space to use it. They want you to be (iirc) 6-10 feet back from the sensor, and have about the same amount of width to work in. My family room itself is OK for this, but the geography of furniture, and where I need to put the furniture due to doors, windows, and fireplace, really compromises the available Kinect space.

Agreed on all of the above.

It doesn't appear from that link that they are similar, but maybe I'm reading it wrong?

Well, there is a case where the refund would not be possible.. If the donation was specifically sent by the donator to an author, and the author cashed out the donation after 30 days, and the author didn't have enough donations in their credits to handle a refund, we wouldn't be able to refund it.  This has never happened but it is possible.  I suppose I should add some asterisk to the refund statement about this.

Maybe if it's within 30 days of the donation - any donation.  So if I donate X today, then Y some days later, 30 days after X donation, I couldn't get it back, though I could still get back Y within it's 30 day window.  I think that's more than fair.

"The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers." Turkish Prime Minister Erdoğan, quoting from an Islamic poem.

And I seem to recall this from a very popular Christian hymn:

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
with the cross of Jesus going on before.
   Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
forward into battle see his banners go!

I don't know about the original reference, but I do know that this is being taken out of context.  It's not meant literally, but in terms of spiritual combat.
7993
I like this!  None of the software really appeals to me unfortunately, but I might contribute just to support the idea.  I wish we could get something like that going here in as an addition to the donation credits system.

^ I saw that, but I wasn't sure if he got a better price on it, and his experiences.  But thanks. :)  And, I wonder if his experiences with this were better than yours with the HP hardware.

I found a couple of impressions on it, and it does seem promising...

I got an exopc. The touch screen is sort of ok. I wonder if it could be used as a remote controller for another pc...

I'd not heard of that before... how is it?  And how much is it?

Checking the documentation is the best bet, or e-mailing the company that wrote it.  More likely than not, if it's not in the docs, it's not.

You could also try to import it, though that wouldn't be definitive: see http://msdn.microsof...645736(v=vs.71).aspx

Is the second software COM capable?  If not, you're probably going to have to go with Renegade's suggestion more than likely, i.e.:

Check for macro software.

Now, up comes a message saying 'do you want to sync with this library? Big time NO. But it still wiped the Touch anyway. Didn't put anything on, just wiped it.

I don't know why it did that- but that's not standard behavior.

I found 2 different ways to get his works database into something that would be more usable.

Sorry... I guess I wasn't specific enough.  I was just saying that you could convert to another format, and then use another db program rather than looking for a works compatible db program, i.e. snapdb or something similar.

I found 2 different ways to get his works database into something that would be more useable.

1. Import Works DB into Access - it's for access 2000, but it should work
2. Convert to CSV or Excel

Once there, he should be able to get it into something else.
