Living Room / Re: News Article: Microsoft & Cray Release $25,000 Supercomputer
« Last post by Deozaan on September 17, 2008, 04:28 PM »
Why would the "mainstream" even want a $25k supercomputer at home?
7881
I use Microsoft Groove 2007 for my local networked computers, but it still keeps them synchronized across the intertubes (laptop when at school, etc.) which is nice when working on an essay or programming something. But it really isn't meant for large scale synchronization.

It has a 2GB folder limit, but you can synchronize as many folders as you want. So it's kind of like having an infinite number of Dropbox accounts, except you can use any folder on your computer, and the data doesn't have to be saved in the same path on each computer. For example, I might want to keep my essays on my computer in a "D:/School/2008/English/102/Essays" directory. But on my wife's laptop, just in the "My Documents/Essays" directory for easy finding.

My only real complaints about Groove are that you can't filter files by anything other than what Microsoft Office determines to be good or bad. And it's all or nothing. Meaning that if you want to update exe files, you have to disable the filter and allow all files in the directory to be shared. It would be great if I could add individual exceptions to each directory as needed.

Other than that Groove is awesome!

I'm not taking the test.

For the past seven years I've been living in a house where a number of areas are painted white.

My wife recently informed me that NONE of these areas is white, that every one is a different pastel shade.

After a little thought I decided that if I believe the areas are white that's good enough for me.
I don't want to live in a house with pastel shades.

It all comes down to attitude, and that's all white with me.

Totally worth it! ;D

I really want to try this game out so I can make a comment on it, but I spent all my free time last week playing Spore and now I've got to catch up on homework!

Someone else try it out and comment on it so there is a legitimate "bump" to get it back to the top of my Unread Posts list.

Btw, people, please attach images to your posts here instead of linking externally - that way, we'll be sure they don't mysteriously disappear.

Good idea, f0dder. I updated the post to include this suggestion.

Seems kind of interesting. I played around with the top row for a bit but since I don't have time to really sort them out (I'm procrastinating writing an essay just typing this) I quit once the top row was in a close order (not obsessing over perfection).

f0dder, remember that there may always native language issues and that could explain some misunderstanding, so be kind.

I think he was more kind than I was. He explained why LanTan won't be getting a key from this thread and all I did was say no. :-[

Hey folks - it appears that this may not be exactly true. Adam Savage has essentially stated that he was incorrect when he reported this story.

http://news.cnet.com/8301-13772_3-10031601-52.html

Jim

Hmm... Not sure. It seems believable that Adam has been coerced to retract his statement. Especially if you really believed him in the first place. I mean, if the lawyers can prevent a whole TV studio from airing a show, they can also coerce one person to "officially" take back what they said.

I was just talking in the DonationCoder IRC channel and a rather obvious fact became an epiphany to me! A "mouser" is a cat! How come nobody thought of a LOLCat before where the cat is Mouser? Here's mine:

LOLMouser - Eated Cody 2.jpg

Put words in mouser's mouth, or just keep it DonationCoder themed, and make your own LOLMouser. You can use I Can Haz Cheezburger's LOL Builder if you don't have the tools or pictures to do your own.

Once you've made your LOLMouser, take a screenshot or save the image and upload it to this thread as an attachment so it doesn't steal bandwidth from other sites or mysteriously disappear!
