you can't always stop the car safely in sufficient time to let them get out of the car to do it

The old London taxi cabs were a good bet. They had a trap door in the floor at the back.

how it should be set up to be the most gentle introduction to SC for new users

One big red button that says "You're not ready for this!"

Lotsa good stuff!

… but it's no good to me if it's going to keep moving around like that. There won't be time for me to get my mouse pointer to the right place.

Might it be useful to have an option to change the captured file name to whatever is the caption?

Might be nice to have an option for that.. something like "use initial X characters of custom comment as filename"..
Sounds good, if anyone else thinks it might be useful.
Since I can't count much beyond, um... 11, would there be an 'all' option or would entering an oversized number get the whole caption e.g. 'This is my caption' -> use the first 100 characters -> 'This is my caption'

You're a fast worker!

Works well for me at adding a caption.
I'd forgotten about the pop-up option but that's quite a handy way to set a caption.

There's so much available in SC that I have the feeling that I never use more than about 30% of its capability. (Yes, I watched the movies.)

Basically it just melts these little glue "sticks" into liquidy gel which you apply to the area.. and it bonds very quickly
Just don't let it drip on your hands or you'll find yourself doing one of those dancing-screaming routines  :o

That is, I just want to simulate a physical wall calendar: you can click to edit in any day box and it should act like a memo where you can simply edit and type the plain text in that box.
I used to do exactly this with a WordPerfect calendar — just click in a box and type away. I don't know what word processor you use, but you might take a dekko at its templates.

Now I use VueMinder and am as happy with it as those others who have commented about it here.

I'm not sure when the world changed Chris, but the grooms parents now pay just as much as the brides
Indeed, but I'm talking about funding for the next generation  ;D

I think that making selection "sticky" would help with your issue. I will take a look on it.

@fenixproductions

Hi  :)

A wish-list item for your consideration.
When modifying text style (italic/bold/underline etc.) check for any immediately preceding style and make tags cumulative.

example:
highlight this then hit italic, then immediately hit bold

currently yields this

would prefer     this

Stretching the definition of a gadget somewhat but...

I just installed one of these dual-bay SSD enclosures. It's really handy to pop out one SSD and stick in another. A nice, clean way to change OS's.
About US$50

By the way. coming onto this forum, with the attitude "We are awesome and don't need to answer to you"
You're going to have a bad time.

Gee. I take profound exception to that!
Please be sure to understand that you're not speaking for everyone here and, if you thing you're speaking on behalf of DonationCoder, I suggest that you 'moderate' your own tone.
