It had a popup window saying that malware could be bad for my computer and offered to do a virus scan on my PC.

It's definitely malware.

The above screnshot is shown so you can see the URL it sends me to. Once I closed the window, it automatically tried to get me to download a file:

I wish I had a thumb tackball. I tried to use one that had the ball in the center, but I did't like it. I need my scroll wheel.

I thought a trackball with a ball in the center wouldn't work out too -- but I found a Kensington one that has a scroll ring around the ball and although it took a bit of getting used to, I'm happily adjusted to it now :)

$100 for a mouse? It better be good for that price. As for me, I'll stick with my $30 thumb Trackman from Logitech.

Just reading that right there makes me want to support the company!

Well, the most important question: HAVE you supported them or do you just bullshit and pretend that you WOULD... blablabla.

No, naturally the first thing I did when I found this out was I went and pirated all their software. ::)

Hmm... I just saw the latest comic from the RSS feed, "K.I.S., Cobbe" but it didn't actually load the image. So I clicked on the link to view the strip and it took me to some malware website.

So either feedburner got hijacked or your website did.

I'm not sure. Have you tried contacting Google?
No, and I'm not sure how and where would make most sense anyway. :-[

I'd start here: http://www.google.co...port/calendar/?hl=en

Or specifically this one:

If you've noticed that you're no longer receiving event notifications, reset the calendar's notification settings to resolve this issue. To do so, follow these steps:

   1. In the calendar list on the left, click the down-arrow button next to the appropriate calendar, then select Notifications. (Alternatively, click the Settings link at the bottom of the calendar list, then click the Notifications link to the right of the appropriate calendar.)
   2. Click the remove link next to each reminder set in the Event reminder section.
   3. Deselect any selected boxes in the Choose how you would like to be notified section.
   4. Click Save.
   5. Return to the Notifications settings page.
   6. Enable your desired notification options again.
   7. Click Save.

Heh heh. I like how that was posted in November 2006 but it says all the apps will be posted by January 1st, 2006.

This is exactly what iRotate has done: mapped shift + ctrl + arrows (something everyone uses to move around text, select blocks in excel etc) as their main screen rotation shortcut.

It's fun to try to select a word and see your screen rotating... several times.

The tool is incredibly useful, but it should have user-defined shortcuts, and in any case, never redefine window's system-wide shortcuts for a good reason.

Sounds like they need to rename their app to iRate to better reflect how it makes end-users feel.

Idiots can be everywhere on either side ;-)

It's too bad we can't make it so that the idiot customers get the idiot customer support reps, and all the non-idiot customers get the non-idiot customer service reps. That would be bliss.  :-*

Why do you complain about their service if you are everything but not a customer?

They will certainly not miss you being a cheapskate... ;-)

But just think of all the advertisements they can show him while he waits 4 hours to download files!

Oh how technology has changed in just the past 25-26 years!

I found a bug. I have a mod called "Desert" and another one called something like "Desert Base" but toggling either of them renames the same folder, and can actually lead to errors and, if I remember correctly, a crash of ccModManager.

« Last post by Deozaan on November 12, 2008, 02:05 AM »
Since we're resurrecting old threads here, I thought I should point out that you can already do this with the Windows XP/Vista Language bar. It sits in the tray and you just click the keyboard to choose a different keyboard layout.

I've done it with dvorak before and my brother currently uses dvorak, so he has this set up as well.

Not a formula for Shell oil, but one that if followed may yield a cheaper and altogether more cozy way of heating your home:

62 O2 (g) + C52H84O22 (s) --> 52 CO2 (g) + 42 H2O (g)

I seem to be needing lot's of help these days -
anyone else understanding that ?
I tried reading out loud but dont know what C52H84O22 is
Actually searching for it I found
http://answers.yahoo...0061130123830AAh3Sxc which gives the answer ...

I never took a chemistry class, so I was totally lost on this one.

Tangential: It's always fun to see people getting answers to their homework on sites like Yahoo! Answers.

Ha! You're right, Deozaan - I learned it as 22/7 as well. I'd forgotten about that  :o

Although to be honest it was always easier for me to remember the first few digits of pi rather than some obscure division problem.

Just from memory I can go to 5 decimal places before I start to get confused, and that's nearly as accurate as 355/113 and definitely as accurate as you'd ever need for a calculator that doesn't have pi built in to it.

must be an age thing, if [cursive] isn't normal writing, what is??

When I learned how to write in kindergarten, "normal writing" was called "denelian" AKA print. I don't think I learned cursive until maybe 2nd or 3rd grade. I only used cursive when required to by teachers, and to this day, I only use cursive for my signature.

An example practice sheet similar to those I used in kindergarten for learning denelian:

I do remember that if you didn't have a Pi key (I didn't!), you could always generate it by dividing 355 by 113.

It was easy to remember because it was just the first three odd numbers duplicated:

113355

Split it in the middle

113     355

and divide the bigger number by the smaller and you get

3.1415929203539823008849557522124

I always thought it was 22/7. Though 355/113 is certainly a lot more accurate for estimating pi.

I guess I was part of the younger generation the teachers all thought was too stupid to remember clever mnemonics like that.

Anyone else have problems changing the resolution to 1280x1024?

It also stops responding frequently, or doesn't recognize updates or something. I was playing the new Zombie campaign and briefly started my jet pack to fly a short distance and it kept flying for several seconds after I let go of the keyboard until my mobile brain flew off the screen and died.  :(

If you're giving someone storage media like a flash drive, why don't you give them a bonus gift (free!) by filling it up with photo files?

That's actually a pretty good idea. But don't just stop there. Also fill it up with DonationCoder software and some PortableApps.
