Post New Requests Here / Re: How can I "turn off" (not disable) extended monitor
« Last post by jgpaiva on August 22, 2009, 02:33 PM »
From what I read here, Ultramon can disable the secondary monitor.
I don't know how they do it, but this might be a clue as it can be done ;)

But you can already right-clock files and select "delete file" in windows explorer. What do you mean?

General Software Discussion / Re: Steven's handy desktop Linux guide
« Last post by jgpaiva on August 20, 2009, 05:17 AM »
Defining fedora as being "on the cutting edge of technology" is a giant understatement. What the author really means is "fedora frequently ships unstable software which will get you into trouble".
Unfortunately, not every user can tell that being "on the cutting edge of technology" will involve suffering with your pc every day.
I think it's this kind of guides that make the linux newbies make a wrong turn right at the beginning. You can't just give half of the information, if you're trying to help anyone that doesn't know enough to read what isn't written.

I also have a few doubts about fedora's community being better than ubuntu's (which isn't mentioned at all).

Developer's Corner / Re: review my website
« Last post by jgpaiva on August 19, 2009, 06:10 AM »
I'm not sure if this post is spam or not, but I'll answer anyways:

Under FF 3.0.13, ubuntu 9.04:
I can't read the top links, there's not enough contrast.
The 'work' drop down menu at the top makes no sense, as it doesn't have any content.
The contact boxes don't fit the spaces.

In terms of content, not having a 'about' page detailing more about the company sounds strange to me, but I guess that's a design decision.

I think Baby Cody is having so much fun in Yorkshire that he won't feel good anywhere else!
Great photos, Carol, the sights are just beautiful.
758
I hope Baby Cody didn't get hurt when doing his aerobatics ;)

Love the photos, Carol! Looks like Baby Cody really is having fun and seeing great sights.
It's so cool to see him fly around the world to visit DC members!

JGPaiva's GridMove and Ahk Tools / Re: GridMove discussion.
« Last post by jgpaiva on August 09, 2009, 05:47 PM »
Hi angelo!

The grids are not very hard to makes, unfortunately, I don't write very well in English, thus the readme is hard to understand.

The grid doesn't stay up more than those 10 seconds. That's because if someone inadvertently started gridmove's grid and couldn't close it, it'd close itself.

GridMove protects the user from himself, not moving windows which are not supposed to be moved. Your java program is probably one of these.
However, you can disable this feature in the menu, under 'safe mode'. Be careful though.. If you disable it, GridMove will be able to resize any window (including some which shouldn't be moved!).

General Software Discussion / Re: Using a Desktop Search through the network
« Last post by jgpaiva on July 29, 2009, 08:23 AM »
peter moore: I believe you're trying to push Looken. It is not adequate for the original question, as it can't search files a whole computer, let alone a few computers connected in LAN.

Of your four posts, three are about looken. Thus, I can only conclude you're trying to advertise this product even in situations where it doesn't make any sense. Furthermore, you're not stating your affiliation with looken, which goes against the forum's rules.
It's a dishonest practice, and I wouldn't buy software from a company which works like that. Probably if they're bringing in users by fooling them, they aren't producing quality software.

General Software Discussion / Re: how can I convert swf files to avi?

Ok, these posts on converting stuff tend to attract a massive amount of spam.
I think at least one of these posts should have already answered the original question, so I'll lock the thread.

I don't think that'd help much, Carol..
Typically the people who make these posts don't really post again.

zlatan24: The program you're recommending is NOT free, and ALL the posts you've made on DonationCoder.com are about that exact same software.
Personally, I wouldn't invest any time in trying a software which is being pushed by SPAMMING forums rather than having genuine quality.

João

That's better for sure!! Thanks a ton for your time and trouble!!  :Thmbsup: :)

Gordhan
Glad to know that! ;)
770
Oh Gordhan.. I misread what you said, got confused with cavie's post!

Yes, I understand what you mean, but unfortunately I don't have time to implement it..
The way I meant for you to use the plugin was to call it from a grid element..

Try placing the executable in the plugins folder, then using the grid I attached to this post.
(just place it in the grids/ folder and select it from the menu ;) ).

This grid will allow you to place windows vertically, and using the 2 grid elements on the top, you can swap windows. It still needs one extra click, but I guess it should be a bit better :)
771
Oh, I didn't understand your problem the first time..
Actually, GridMove already had that 'reload on resolution change' mode, but unfortunately, it kept reloading without changes in the resolution, it became more annoying than useful!

Good solution, Gordhan ;)

Sorry, got confused!

JGPaiva's GridMove and Ahk Tools / Re: Maximize on second screen?
« Last post by jgpaiva on July 10, 2009, 05:22 AM »
Actually, it's the Maximize that possibly isn't correctly implemented.
Currently, it maximizes the window on the monitor where the window is and not on the monitor where the mouse is.
I suggest that you use the following workaround:
[6]
   TriggerTop    = [Monitor2Height] / 3
   TriggerRight  = [Monitor2Width] / 3 * 2
   TriggerBottom = [Monitor2Height] / 3 * 2
   TriggerLeft   = [Monitor2Width] / 3
   GridTop       = [Monitor2Top]
   GridRight     = [Monitor2Right]
   GridBottom    = [Monitor2Bottom]
   GridLeft      = [Monitor2Left]

ps: there's a [Code][/Code] tag for posting code on the forum.
