« Last post by kartal on October 09, 2008, 08:25 PM »
Hi

I am hoping that there is an appl that can replace standard windows color palette that shows up in various applications. Now, I am not looking for a color picker or color palette app. I am looking for an app that has more advance features that will actually replace standard xp color palette.

thanks

RIght now it is missing couple things like ip adress tables, cities etc. But developer said that they are going to implement more stuff as it goes.

http://stashbox.org/227650/lynx.zip

Download this, uncompress into a folder and run.

To be able to goto any page press "g" when lynx is open and type the url. That should give you a good head start.

I have started using Lynx. it is great, it is awesome and it is a total no  b@llshit approach. It makes surfing fun again(no flash banners, no video ads, only text) ! I was wondering if there are any lynx user here, maybe we can create a tips and tricks section. I am relatively new user. I hope that more people would use it so that developement continues :(

http://lynx.browser.org/

"Lynx is a text browser for the World Wide Web.   Lynx 2.8.5 runs on Un*x, VMS, Windows 95/98/NT, DOS386+ but not 3.1, 3.11, or OS/2 EMX.  The  current developmental version is also available for testing.  Ports to Mac are in beta test."

General Software Discussion / Re: Save the Cookies!
« Last post by kartal on September 20, 2008, 12:31 AM »
I never use cookies, my browsers are set to refuse and delete all. I also use cookiesafe extension for firefox. It does not give me much grief at all. If a site is determined to use a cookie I simply do not visit. For example yahoo is very persistent. I just do not visit yahoo, I do not give a damn about yahoo and I am sure they would not give  damn about me either. For the sites I care to visit I use another browser that has cookies set properly. I use that browser only for the sites I need with cookies, like banking, shopping etc. Other than that, cookies contain high carbs, can make you fat.

40hz,

that is one nice suggestion post. Thanks for taking time. I will check it out asap.

Just to make sure thou, this will have a proxy profile that I can use to change system wide proxy settings? I can change proxy settings in firefox, rssowl etc manually but it gets tedious to change in all computers and revert back later. I am hoping that the app I am lookign fro wil be able to change proxy settings of the system(if there is such a thing) rather than browser settings only actually.

General Software Discussion / I am looking for system wide proxy changer-configurator
« Last post by kartal on September 16, 2008, 08:05 PM »
I have proxy server on my laptop. Sometimes I need to use wired connection so my proxy server adress changes on other machines. I was wondering if there is an application that lets me toggle between proxy servers on the fly so that I do not need change proxy settings in every application.

Btw please do not suggest things like "google is your friend". Google is not my friend and I am looking for tested applications :)

Well, I am not looking for evil intentions here, but this kind of particular overlooking cannot be disregarded as just plain lazyness. Some people like to think that if someone is worried about privacy, he/she is going nuts, worrying about corporations, goverments are following him/her day and night. NO the issue is none of this. The main issue is that noone has any right or business to follow or track what I do until I let them to. This is not a paranoia, this is search for rights. Now those who like to ridicule these important issues are just shooting themselves in the foot by helping those sloppy lazzy or evil companies, call hem whatever you like.

Now Opera is helping you by serving phishing data but in return they are logging every url you click on. How come this is just a simple feature enabling or disabling issue?  This is an important thing that should not be enabled by default and they should mention it to the user spesifically during the install. It would be amazingly dumb if they have never thought about this flaw while implementing the feature.
