How could one make a site like donationcoder enabling donations with bitcoins ?
For example a download site for homebrew game developers which allowed payments / donations whenever someone downloads digital productions

The simplest way would be to just show an address, either in plain text or as a QR code. People scan the code in their wallet application, send, done: bitcoins are delivered.
Blockchain.info offer a simple donation button maker, ready to be cut & pasted on a web page, that generate a different address every time (to complicate things a bit to whom want to try to see how much bitcoins the receiver have accumulated) and display a QR code.

Or, a payment processor like BitPay can be used, to let users pay in bitcoins and receive the corresponding amount in the legal tender of choice, with a minimal fee (1% per transaction or fixed 30$ monthly, if I remember correctly).

I got myself a used but in perfect condition Olympus OM-D E-M5, and I'm very happy with it. The in body stabilization is fantastic. I have done some shots with a 90mm equivalent lens, free hand, with 1" exposure, and the results are very nice.

For about the price of a simple remote shutter + intervalometer, 30$, it makes for a far more flexible and powerful gadget.
There's a dongle that connect to the headphones out jack of a smartphone (or any device that can output audio), and then a collection of adapter cables for nearly any photocam around.

I had the occasion to try BitTorrent Sync just today. Me and a friend shared a folder among 3 different machines (2 on Linux, 1 on Windows). It was dead simple to install & configure. Adding a new PC just require selecting a folder and entering the secret "hash", and it immediately start downloading pieces from all the others.

I think the main difference is that problems arise not because of some intrinsics problems of the technology, but more as an effect of some not very good implementations.

I too am starting to use Linux more and more.
Before, I happens to use it only occasionaly, mostly as part of some recovery procedure involving a live Linux distro of sort, or to try some cross compilation.
Then in recent times I started toying with a Raspberry Pi and his Raspbian first, and then I built a new home server with Ubuntu 12.04 -I thought it would be less confusing to remain around something Debian based while I was learing how to move around.

I have to say it's a very pleasant experience. Finding doucumentation about anything is very easy. In near no time I had a mirrored Zpool setup, Samba shares, media server for the Squeezebox, the works.

In my (admittely not very long) experience with SSDs, I actually never met one made inoperable due to flash wear, while I have seen various briked by faulty electronic / controller or simply bad firmware (or after an update of the latter).
So, I think the most important thing is to do the proper homeworks before buying, and getting a model with a good track record. I have good experiences with Samsung (I never heard of serious firmware problems with the 830 serie, for example). Probably the fact that they do the entire thing in house by themselves helps.

micro HDMI interfaces also feature, though the reported resolution for the latter maxes out at 1280 x 1024

Since Logitech had decided to kill the Squeezebox some months ago, here's another great use for the Raspberry Pi. Fire up Squeezelite, and you have a perfectly functional Squeezebox "clone". If you actually don't want any compromise regarding the sound quality, add a cheap USB sound card with a digital out (or an HDMI audio splitter), and the stream is ready to go in a pricey DAC and to the rest of the sound system.

Got 4 in the mail just yesterday (just about 2 week of wait time from RS Components UK), for me and some friends.



Lots of fun with the little machine.
I plan to use one in place of a '06 iMac that's now used only to run some old DOS apps (!).
DosBOX seems to run fast enough on the Raspberry Pi.

When I migrated from HD to SDD from my main machine, I used the Parted Magic live distro, from a USB pen drive. It have everything that was needed: GParted for partitioning, CloneZilla to copy (whole disk, single partition, etc.), lots of other tools.
Also, shell and browser to keep doing some (more or less) useful things while copying.  ;D
