Looks really cool when it's closed. Reminds me of a Boy Scouts of America briefcase my dad owned when he was a Scout Master (back when I was a youngling).

deo that is mean and unfair not to mention a downright rude thing to say to someone who took the time to write about software on this site

I don't think they deserve to be sued

I disagree. If you break the law, you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and nobody is above the law.

If I did the same thing that the BBC did, you can bet your DonationCredits I'd be getting sued. No more double-standards!

EDIT: Removed content in which Deozaan forgets his manners and says really rude things which he is now ashamed of.

Nice spear trap. Other than that, not too interesting over the first one.

This phylosophy is why people love and hate apple.

Yep, that pretty much sums up Apple. Except for some reason they think they need to make cheap crap like this twice the price (or more) of the good stuff.

Is it just me that's dull, or isn't there any screenshots on the silkroad site? O_o

Sure they do. Just click the link at the top that says "Official Site" and then scroll to the very bottom of the page that loads and you'll see some screen shots of the week and stuff like that.

Can't you just get the flash player to communicate with an online server and let the server handle all of that stuff?

Ehtyar it appears you have a giant crab problem.

#4: The BBC has been accused of breaking British cybercrime law after it purchased and used a botnet of ~22,000 nodes to spam its own Hotmail and Gmail addresses, and flood a server of a consenting their party.

In a way I'm glad that the media is being held to the same standards as a normal citizen. Unless they asked Hotmail and Gmail for permission to use their servers that way then they should be held liable for breaking the law. But I hope they're not being charged for  flooding the consenting third party's servers with spam.

I used SpamBayes in the past but the best spam filter I've ever used is Gmail.

I updated to the latest edition and now "Do not show Toaster when Main Window is Active" will not stay selected in my options. That is, it remains checked until I press the OK button in the Options. But when I open the options up again, the option is unchecked.

Now you're stupidly AWESOME!

I think it depends.

Thanks to Gmail just hiding everything that's been quoted, I usually just press the Reply button and write a response. But if I'm responding line by line to what was said, I'll often show the quote block, response, quote block, response, like you said.

Much like how your actions and speech probably change depending on the context of who you're with, so should your e-mail netiquette.

General Software Discussion / Re: Official players - What is the big deal?
« Last post by Deozaan on March 15, 2009, 05:06 PM »
I am not saying make any of these your DEFAULT player, I am saying why go through all of the other hoops just to get another player to play them?

I don't know what you're talking about. I downloaded the K-Lite codec pack and VLC and I haven't had to go through any hoops to play any video I'd like to see.

To me, installing Quicktime and getting rid of iTunes and other crappy bundled software/services is going through hoops to get a video to play. RealPlayer may or may not be a good media player these days. I don't know because I haven't touched it for probably close to ten years. I haven't needed RealPlayer in all that time.

I even have an mp4 video file I got as a bonus for buying Coldplay's X&Y album on iTunes and it plays nicely in VLC. I have no desire and apparently no need for RealPlayer or Quicktime.

I just hate Real because back when I did anything with it, it really sucked. I haven't given it a second chance because I don't think it deserves one.

I hate Quicktime because, back when I did anything with it, it really sucked. I have given it second and third and fourth, etc., chances and every time it still sucks because it bundles extra crap with it or whatever. It sucks.

I tried Real, it sucked. I tried Quicktime, it sucked. I'm perfectly happy with the alternatives I use so why should I give a crappy product another try?
