skwire, if you want to give me source for a window with toolbar buttons using the same method as your app I can try it in W7 and Vista64 and see if I can find anything out if you like. It's tough to get any clue just from a compiled .exe.

One of the things I like about Opera is the Wand form filler.  I don't like that it leaves the info in opera6.ini in clear text.  I cobbled a hack to encrypt that section of opera6.ini when not it use.  It's just a compiled script that decrypts that info, launches Opera, and when Opera closes, encrypts the info again.

If you are using a sophisticated form fill app then it's not for you.  But if you use Opera Wand and want to make it a bit more secure without a lot of hassle, you are welcome to use RunOperaWand

As with all my utilities, it's free for you to use at your own risk. :)

( edit: btw sorry if off-topic )

The main thing bugging me with FF now is I'm using Minefield and I like to update it often.

I've quit using nightly builds and early betas because too many of my extensions break which causes pandemonium over here as I don't function well without my extensions.

Guess that could be a problem.  Mine have stabilized.  Then again, I only run 18 extensions and 5 themes. MR Tech Toolkit keeps 'em from gettin' too uppity(which is one of the 18 btw) :)

If you want to try it out without installing you can always burn one of those "live CDs" that boot into Linux.  At least you can get a feel for how XWindows does things.  It feels a bit different than Windows even though it's point and click.  Stuff on internet feels pretty familiar like browsing and email but text editors tend to be a lot different.  Most don't have the key bindings or philosophy that you're used to in Windows.

That's good to know.  That Opera download tab can get annoying too.  I mainly use Opera these days to listen to music clips on AllMusic.com.  It plays them navtively.. so I don't have to mess with a media player addon/plugin. Just about everything else I do with FF though.

The main thing bugging me with FF now is I'm using Minefield and I like to update it often.  With the nightly builds that's very very often.  But every time I have to open application.ini and set the Crash reporting to 0, and kill those DDE exec registry settings.  I have a .reg script but to get it to "take" I have to run an Explorer Environment refresh utility about 3 times(just calls AutoIt UpdateEnv() function.)  Sheesh!!!  At least that saves me from having to log off. I'm surprised 3.6pre is in limbo for so long. Seems to work fine for me.  Then again I don't stress it with rows of tabs or dozens of addons.  Seems to run as good as any other FF I've used though.

Did it used to work under v1.0.3?  I don't have access to either of the operating systems you mention so this might be a bit difficult to troubleshoot.

I was using 1.0.0.28.  I didn't realize there were others until I downloaded 1.04.

Grow marijuana? On Mars?

Guess now I know why they call it the Red Planet.

People will be copping Panamars Red.  The guy down in Mexico growing the weed will put a bit of red sand in the baggy to convince everyone it's the genuine article. :)

1.04 seems to work ok but the toolbar buttons are invisible on W7 7077 32 bit and Vista64 SP1.  When you mouse over you just get an outline of the button and tooltip.  No graphic.

I tried compatibility mode XP SP3 and SP2 and it made no difference.  Must be something to do with the way Vista/W7 graphics differ from XP.

Like some have noted this week, I don't think we should go to Mars unless we can do something there, e.g., establish a colony, grow marijuana legally, build a Wal-Mart, or something. Otherwise, it's a one-shot moment and poof, we're back to 'been there, done that.'
Isn't Copenhagen a lot closer? :)
They don't grow weed in christiania, they just sell it... and shoot eachother :)

Evidently they're lousy shots then.

Hmmmm, blows my mind the Moon Landing Stuff(tm) is 40 years old!  Just shows ta' go ya' once they've seen the rabbit disappear, it's boring the 2nd time around.  I'd have thought we'd be partying on Clavius by now!  Guess there needs to be a black flat stone emitting a radio signal before we'll go back. :)

I just made a collection of all the ones I use in my "normal" firefox profile. Feel free to browse through it. Never know if you'll find something you never noticed before.

Hmmmmmm, the download status bar thingy looks interesting.  When I don't use GigaGet I hate when that default download dialog pops up. :)

You could use it as a "guinea pig" machine.  Install XP on it and save an image or create a slipstream CD with nLite or something.  If some application you test hoses it, just format and reinstall.

Insteada' that welcome screen with music they shoulda' had a video of those big red dice with the white spots and sharp edges rolling off the stop of the craps table, coming up with 7 logos and the voice saying "7! We have a winna'!!!!"

Then instead of the BSOD if you have a system check, it comes up snake eyes!!

As in the hotkeys are limited to what is supplied in the drop down list. For example, one can't define a hotkey to use the windows key and spacebar.

Ok, I just wanted to be sure what you meant.  I avoided doing most of the regular letter keys since that would conflict with most editors, but I don't see a reason not to add spacebar.

Edit:  I've added spacebar, plus the up, down, left, right arrow keys to the main key list. Hopefully this will provide a few more permutations. :)

The latest build with the new keys is uploaded to my page.

Here's a weird idea.. instead of tabs how about Open In New Window that Docks? You could select a Docking Heuristic so that it would be automatic. Various placement schemes could be employed such as rotational clockwise, left to right rows, etc.. Just right click or middle click or whatever triggers it.

Imagine a cluster of 8 FF windows all stuck together and they automatically proportionally resize to avoid taking up all the desktop?

Said, it was weird, not good. :)

This is what I wanted, but the hot keys aren't that flexible.

Would you care to elaborate?

See SourceSnap at the bottom of my hotkeys page:
http://www.favessoft.com/hotkeys.html

It has 2 save options.  One hotkey saves to a separate file using a File Save dialog, as you requested.  The second hotkey appends the selected text to the end of the "snapfile"(snippet file.)  I wrote it as an enhancement to a source code grabber posted on AutoIt3 forum, but it can be used to copy any plain text.

It also has options in the Tray Menu to set the hotkeys using combo boxes, change the name of the snippet or "snapfile" etc..

Fixed now.  Server hiccup.

Got it.  Thanks. :)

Hmmmm, now I know why no extraterrestrials ever came by here.  We sent out that thing that said Hello 450 different ways.  The aliens figured half their life expectancy would be used up just in greeting.  Never get anything done on that planet!
