What's the Best? / Re: Anti-Virus Package
« Last post by Grorgy on May 30, 2007, 11:43 PM »
I use the Kaspersky unternet suite, mainly because its got a good a/v and I wanted all the rest of it lumped together, i'd tried to cobble a free/cheap solution together, but it was more trouble than it was worth (for me).  But the main reason for the post is that its worthwhile hunting around their sites for specials, I got a 2 for 1 licence from kaspersky that made it more or less affordable

(and of course i wanted to get 100 posts  ;D useless and inconsequential as they may be :))

Excellent, been after this for some time but it was too expensive for me  :)

EDIT well until your body starts to break down anyway

when thats happened to me its seems to be something gone wrong in the download, i download it again and try that, if that doesnt work i resort to sacrificing chickens and weird incantations

ohh the joy of calling 256 k slow lol, i tried to get google reader on 56k dialup, woeful, probably work ok on 264 k when i can get home (my fast connectiion lol), ive found either a separate reader (presently using greatnews a freeware offering) and using my yahoo for a few headlines seems ok, doesnt seem to have the long download and get ready time that google has.

sounds like an excellent idea, someone made a firefox extension ( http://customsoftwar...sions/febe/febe.html) which backs up all firefox setting, userchrome and passwords and of course your extensions and themes, much like that one for opera, i dont know how popular it is but i know i like it and use it, and would certainly use something similar for all or other applications.

Living Room / Re: How do you auto-forward all IMAP mail?
« Last post by Grorgy on May 25, 2007, 08:07 AM »
talk about finding ways not to do the things i'm sposed to be doing lol ahhh well ive had fun

I used thunderbird and a thing called freepops http://www.freepops.org/   then set it up to find yahoo accts (it will let you do this with heaps of different web based emails)  so when thunderbird checked for mail it found it.

Set a filter to forward any mail addressed to me to be forwarded to gmail, and it worked.  Oh and the mail came into the main inbox tho it looks like you can set rules on any folder.

Hope this is of some assistance

While ive never tried to do it, if you used thunderbird with the webmmail extension http://webmail.mozdev.org/index.html (this lets you download from these: Currently Yahoo, Hotmail, Lycos (Europe), MailDotCom, Gmail, Libero, and AOL domains are supported.

Then you could get thunderbird to send them back out using the appropriate IMAP account to gmail.

Worth a try perhaps

Thats the thing tho. it can be used for almost anything and all of them at once, i saw someone has it set up as a to do list as well as other functions, the all purpose dumping categorising files fairly easily and so on.  I only have the free version as the paid version didnt seem to offer me any needed functionality and times is tuff so have to watch what i spend on software

This is great, i've had evernote for years and have just used it to dump stuff into, its so much more powerful than i ever realized, all these ways you folk have found to use it has really opened my eyes to a new evernote lol thankyou all

well it may be the only reason it scrolls aimlessly through the playlist, but its not the reason its doing it here, what the reason is i have no idea, but that isnt it, anyway ive moved from winamp now, i got sick of trying to get it to work, i just want to listen now.  :)

i've found winamp tends to just give up on me whatever i file types i use, it works ok foor a while, then for no apparent reason it just start scrolling thru the playlist without actually playing anything, a reinstall seems to fix it for a bit, but its really frustrating, so i've given up on it, my ears arent capable of telling a great deal of difference between any of the players so i just move on, I use media monkey now, mainly because i find the management side of it really easy to use
