But working with the mouse is nice...
- in the red box i can even press on an menu to open it.

Maybe we can trigger the capture
withou any mouse click ?
Only by pressing....hmm... the Print key
if i ready with my settings ?

Maybe an entry in your context menu like "Capture now!"

- Win2000
- SC: capture object mode
- switch to an window and press shortcut for to see an pull-down menu
- point red box to that pull-down menu
- press ctrl+click
- i get an error "invalid window handel" (translated from german)
- SC hangs now and i must terminate it

- object mode works well with tray and TNA, panels and windows parts.

- the region mode didn't capture the pull-down menu but the back ground window only.

But maybe only "inside" for full screen windows, for other issues its better to have this info box outside.

I mean something like ac'tivAid from german c't magazin.

09ActivAid2.jpg

http://www.heise.de/ct/ftp/05/08/098/
http://www.heise.de/.../08/098/activaid.zip

Source code as AHK script avaible, maybe skrommel can make an little tool from this source for our issue?

But the hole c't tool is worth to look on too  :)

------ Edit

Upps - an  update:

http://www.heise.de/ct/ftp/05/22/210/  --- the homepage in german
http://www.heise.de/.../22/210/activaid.zip  ------------ ac'tivAid Version 1.0.4.1 ~ 200kB
http://www.heise.de/...210/activaid_exe.zip ------- as compiled EXE, you don't need AHK installed first, _
but can't be updated by user. ~ 800kB

ftp://ftp.heise.de/pub/ct/listings/0522-210.zip  ----- the hole package, all complete ~ 900kB

Can we use WinExplorer from NirSoft ?

For the x1, y1 thing i have to test.... maybe with AutoHotkey ? There is  a nice "cross hair" tool with size info.
I must have somewhere the script. Maybe skrommel can help ? And with the class name too ? Thats no problem for AutoHotKey.
I will see if i found an script for that issue.

Scroll test:

- Opera 8.5 - OK works (~7 pages)

- Word 2000 - don't works, SC captured one side only (that one that is visible)

[Ed CarolHaynes ... neither does WordXP (visible region only)

Great Great Great   :-*

Thank you very much for the new version.

A few quick early Scroll Test on Win2000 SP4:

- Lotus Notes   - OK

01LotusNotes2.jpg

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

- "QuickDic" Window w 1500 entrys - OK

02QuickDic.jpg

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

- InternetExplorer - OK

03Win Explorer.jpg

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK, silly test, but so i found an problem:
(the problem is not the missing token, but that SC hangs after  that/an  error)

- WinExplorer w 30.000 objects,
* Error message about missing token, (Taskmanager says SC has 46 MB RAM used)
* If i minimize SC, 44MB of the the 46 MB RAM is set free,
* SC is bussy=> Red tray icon, and SC is not usable.
* After an half an hour i terminate SC.
* 400 MB RAM is set free.

=> Hmmm,  any kind of "Process bar" planed?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

- WinExplorer w 280 objects - OK

05Explorer280.jpg

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cancel with ESC is good too.
Fine drop down menu:

06WinSnapshot-1.png

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some brain storming:

Highlight with red line is very good.
As an addition (don't know is this feasible) the non-highlighted region could be "dimmed"
to better see what region will be captured.
Or dim or darken the highlighted region.

Option
Don't stick the single shots together, but save them as single objects.
For paste the single shots into WORD later.

Feature
Infobox about single shots amount and size.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

...  im hoping we can think up some unique functionality.
for the MouserBar:

- tool tips for the clock for to see the time in different time zones
- "address bar" for to execute DOS or FARR commands
- option to see picture (for them they have bigger monitore) of our loved ones
- option to have bigger picture as icons (i.e. only some but bigger icons/pics, maybe only 8 at onces, for the older one of us)
- option to have text only, without any icon. Maybe have the text in any size you want.
- this is in general a good idea: resize e.g. the clock to big font size.
- option to have count down and stop watch
- otion to see an calendar
- option to have an drop-down notepad for quick notes, with auto hide
- option to see system recourses <?>
- maybe an second "flowting out" bar with the items from the "Quick Launch"-folder
- (have i read this in this thread?) "Fly-out"-icons like in graphic editor => one main icon with an fly out drop-down menu _
for to have the main most wanted tool in front, but alternatives in the fly-out menu.
- optional timer to start apps and link on an given time (remind me on my eBay bid time)
- MouserBar should have the most needed .CPL links out of the box in the installer
- command line calculator (=> OK, this is an issue for the second item from the top above)
- optional an field for to see RSS feeds <?>
- or to remote work with an messenger ? ? for not to have an extra messenger window on the right side.

General Software Discussion / Re: Icon collector for ICL files
« Last post by AbteriX on January 10, 2006, 01:51 AM »
can either of these tools create a .dll filled with icons?

- now i use Icon Snatcher 3.6.1.0 for to batch extract the icons and export them to an folder
- than IconJack32 1.0 Copyright © 2000 by Ziff-Davis, Inc. to collect different icons from folders
and  extract the collection as DLL file.
- than IconShop 1.13 to open the DLL and save the collection as ICL file.

My DLL have now ~500 ICOs and works as icons for the bar of TC. (WCMICONS.DLL)

No iam on the search for an freeware tool like IconSnatcher but enhanced:
- split the icon preview window to have one window for (drag and drop)collect your most wanted icons
- move/arrange your icons
- maybe rename them
- export as DLL too
- no Art work is needed

---
All this tools are stand alone, after the first install procedur, or zipped only.

I need more time to test this tools.

@mouser:

regards to "inline images..."
can you add an ALT-tag for [att achthumb=#]-tag

or can you not only insert the [att achthumb=#]-tag
but [att achthumb=#] Thumpnail preview, click on picture for full size ?

i.e. not only the tag itself but an text also.
If users don't want this text they can delete them.
But other users see that this pic is an thumpnail only by this text.

General Software Discussion / Icon collector for ICL files
« Last post by AbteriX on January 09, 2006, 07:11 AM »
Iam on the search....

...and need your HELP

I want to create an ICL icon library file.
I want to extract icons from .EXE, .DLLs and other ICL files
and save my own collection as a new ICL file.

Is there a small freeware out there to do that ?

I have found Icon Collector on http://www.topsection.com/ (in the freeware section)
IconColletor.jpg
wich works very easy:
- just extract icons from all files you want into the middle window
- than drag and drop the icons you want into the right window
- stupidly Icon Collector save them as ICS file ??! not as ICL file.
But the way Icon Collector works is very nice (for the first look)

So can me please anyone point to a nice freeware tool to do what i want?
Or can i change ICS to ICL ?

i'd love to get a list of programs people use to capture scrolling contents from on a regular basis so i can test for those.

I don't really use this right now,
but i tested SnagIT
and
CaptureNPrint from http://www.geocities...ragon_1964/main.html

If i have an internet side how didn't want to be saved
i print this side with my PDF driver to an PDF file.
So i can later even catch the text out of the PDF.

SO some questions:
- for what want the users to capture scrolling sides ?
- and from what application did they want to capture?
- did they want to save every scroll-side in an own picture, as addition to an very long, but small pic?
---so we would get an serie of normal sized pictures, but from an scrolling-side (,for documention issue).
- did someone use sidescrolling capture? Is there an tool how could capture sidescrolling sides?
- IExpl0rer can detect sides in frames to print only this sides..... can mouser detect this too to capture this sides only? (e.g. without the ad frame from yahoo)

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: Software Cataloger
« Last post by AbteriX on January 07, 2006, 12:14 PM »
Here are some catalog software you could try:

Cathy
http://rvas.webzdarma.cz/

An extremly small, very fast and easy to use media cataloging tool.
You can use it to index files stored on removable media (CD-ROMs, LS120, Iomega Zip and Jaz disks,
or even diskettes), hard disks or net drives, and create searchable catalogs
that can be used without having access to original media. Searching capabilities
are based on file name, date and size. Additional features include filtering options,
search duplicates or singles, customizable date format, etc. Found files can be
opened (executed) or deleted directly, if they are present. Drag&drop support.
Directory trees, MP3 album/song lists can be printed, disk space usage can be investigated.
Single file executable, no install needed.

There is a command-line version of the catalogizer-part of Cathy too

...to automatically catalog CDs and DVDs when they are inserted in the drive... (WinXP only)
http://rvas.webzdarm...athyCmdAutoplay.html

MaxLister
http://www.acc.umu.se/~max/

MaxLister lists the entire contents of a drive or a
directory into a single file. This is especially
useful if you have a large collection of CD-ROMs
to keep track of. You can at a later time browse
the file (in Explorer-like interface), search for
specific filenames or folders. You can import
entries from another file if you happened to
store them separately. MaxLister can also save
the drive image into a plain text file, if you
want to view the drive/dir with any text editor.

Iam attempted a few launch bars 'cus i like to have my most used apps "by the hand" and most used .CPLs also.

Just now i use <MenuApp> , an EXE wich pop ups an folder structure of the folder the exe is in.
(or the working dir i have wrote in the shortcut.lnk)
Than i have an link to MenuApp.exe in my QuickFolder to see the icon of MenuApp in the quick launch bar.

MenuApp have nice feat like simple text files as shortcut, e.g. "!MA0001_Control Panel.{21EC2020-3AEA-1069-A2DD-08002B30309D}"
Well, you have to use the following filename syntax:

!MAXXXX_-Y_The name as it appears on the menu

Where XXXX is whatever number you like, so that the entry appears on the menu
in your prefered location, and Y is the special folder code.

So, if you wanted to create a submenu displaying the current tasks,
you would first create a new text file and then change it's name to:

   !MA0000_-t_Current Tasks

Other bars i have used and use ofttimes:
LaunchMate
 http://launchmate.so...forge.net/index.html

Systray+ - put an icon in the TNA
http://home.nikocity.de/stefan.schmitz/

TrayMenu by Wei Ke
with beta TrayBar
http://f2.org/archiv...ftware/traymenu.html

lastly i found
H-Menu
http://home.planet.n...~vrloohdv/homeEN.htm

and there is of course
PowerPro

and some more.

-

I like an tool like  LaunchMate most, its like MSs Off1ce Sh0rtCut Bar
you can have diff bars as layers of the main bar.
You can add single files, URL links, folders which pop ups like the WindowsStartMenu

LaunchMate ReadMe File:

Description:
------------
LaunchMate is the program launcher that will end your search.
It can dock to any edge of the screen just like the Windows taskbar.
You can organize your programs in up to 50 categories a sure a way to remove the clutter.
LaunchMate is one of the most customizable programs you'll find.
One of its standout features is the ability to set the display settings for each program so
that when it is launched the screen will change to those settings.
This takes away the hassle of having to remember to change your display setting every time
you want to play a game or use a program that works better in a specific display setting.
A few days with LaunchMate and you'll wonder how you ever lived without it.

I suggest for your bar:

- docking on all edge
- drag and drop files and folder on the bar
- context menu entry on each bar item "explore"
- variable size of bar icon
- auto hide after n seconds
- auto hide if the mouse pointer is near
- show costum date and time on the bar  ------  :-*
- lets users wrote plugins for advanced features like system resurces
- let use start other exe's and .CMD with parameters to expand the usebillity of your bar
- TNA icon should be optional pls
- maybe an shortcut to focus your bar and the possibility to use the arrow keys to launch an button
- and... i have to work now, if you want more later :-)

Hi vevola,

Right now not.
Mouser has it on his ToDo-List, see here https://www.donation...cking/view.php?id=37

Till them you cout use e.g. IE Snapshot from http://www.limperex.com/snapshot/
722
... (I'm assuming "Verlauf" is Temp or something like that,

"Verlauf" == history

e.g.
C:\Documents and Settings\Default User\Local Settings\History\History.IE5\

I am administrator and yet the editor claims that the History.IE5 folder is access denied.
You spoke about an company PC, so estimated there are security settings on that folder.
So check the settings on the parent folder "Local Settings".

Will keep looking.  Still, thanks for the PSPad recommendation!
I had heard about it before but hadn't realized it was free, or so cool.

Thanks for the tips so far!
Yes its cool and free.
Check out the PSPad Forum for further help on http://forum.pspad.com/

Hi

Word auto resize the images to your page (border) settings.
Don't insert images that are bigger then your page (Din A4) minus the border.

> (the image is linked,
- linked?, OLE?
Maybe better paste the image directly.
Don't know if i understand this correctly and if this works better?
