Thanks mouser for the proposed 'NANY Certificate' with the gift.

Can you upload the image of the certificate, if possible ? This may infuse more enthusiasm in our developers  :)

Thanks Tao for the feedback. I will check in Win7 and rectify it.

Also I am changing the hotkey define option to more straight forward one and will flash tray icon if the window has a note, so that user get to know about it.

Tao, the SAN note gets saved as soon as you press 'ok' button in 'edit note' window.

The note is saved with the title of the window. So if you open a txt file, say 'biodata' in notepad.exe, the title will be 'biodata - Notepad', which is saved along with the note.

Next time you you press the hotkey for the SAN note in notepad, the title must match to show the note, i.e. 'biodata' text file must be opened.

If you want the SAN note to show for any text file opened, then edit the title to only 'notepad' then it will show regardless of the text file opened in notepad.

Please revert if any problem.

Anand

Thanks @TaoPhoenix for the suggestion.

I also use 'Remove All Blanks' many a times in a day. Having a locked style will definitely benefit. Also I will try you suggestion on filename. I wanted to make a release before Christmas, but looks like Santa is sending more project work to me now  :)

yes @kunkel321, I wanted this sync system, for my office and home to have the same notes available. I used the 'ResophNotes' data folder and it worked fine.

Presently I am too bogged down with my project works, that I am surprised why in the world all work are just coming now when I need some free time for myself ! Maybe it is the thankful wave of DC which is giving me more work !!  :)

Nzyme you can give Paste Text Like a try. A pledge for NANY 2012.

https://www.donation...ex.php?topic=27967.0

It gives the selected text line and character count along with some text manipulation options.

I will appreciate feedback to make it better.

I had sweats on my forehead, when I could not get through in the morning session. Though I do not remember how long I kept refreshing the "downforall.." page with the DC link, it did looked like more than hour.

I can not say how I felt relieved when it said DC was running.

One suggestion, since at the time of DC down, we all were asking just one question "what happened ?". Now can we have a mirror/ separate site, with just the official information of current activity of DC ? Mouser or a volunteer can keep it updated once a day in normal cases and frequently in down time (hope it does not happen again). No more that 1 or 2 pages and no comment features, just read only.

Since both will reside in separate place/ server etc. Once can check the other if he/she has problem getting through the first.

What do you think about it ?

Anand

N.A.N.Y. 2012 / Re: NANY 2012 - Pledge & Release: Stick A Note
« Last post by anandcoral on December 02, 2011, 03:46 AM »
@joiwind, thank you for checking SAN. I have noted the "note move around option" and will try to implement it, but editing will be in separate window. The reason is, SAN is not a general sticky note, but more related to program/process for which user is writing notes. There will be info. for the program window, along with option to search in earlier notes. All these will be difficult to put in a small note area.

@tomos, sorry for the download trouble, rectified the link, thanks. Win+Y shd work, May be German keyboard is saving something else in ini. Please check the ini file, it shd have "hotkey=#Y" without quotes. Also note that you will have to 'check/enable' the Win checkbox and just press 'y' in the box. Please revert if you still face problem.

@mouser,

Is there any way (statistics) of mouse click recorded on links of our DC site ? If yes, we can use it to make larger/button for the links which are used most.

I also agree we think of revamping our site, after all now we are in Pad/Tablet time  :)

@dongler, if you read this, I hope you must be very happy enough to use one of our App, to get the license key. Rest assured the developer of that App will forward more help to you both for the App and the site, if you may require. Feel free to contact.

Criticism helps to develop better next version, example Win7 after Vista.

@nosh,

TextCrawler free http://www.digitalvo...content/textcrawler/, is indispensable for me for search replace in my codes (text files).

Though it do not have the context menu option, as you require, you can save the regular expressions and re-use them. Also the last folder / files are auto saved in drop down list.

N.A.N.Y. 2012 / NANY 2012 - Pledge & Final Release: Stick A Note
« Last post by anandcoral on November 14, 2011, 05:34 AM »
Dear Friends,

Due to working in lots of project in different platform, both at office and home, I urgently need a sticky note for a given document, program, website etc. Better if it could sync with Simplenote web server. I also found discussion in DC here on similar subject.

Now I searched and tried GumNotes http://www.gumnotes.com/, which does what I want, but...after two days it is not working. All my notes have vanished and giving error "can not connect Simplenote" though same password works if I connect from browser.

Next I tried ResophNotes http://www.resoph.com/ResophNotes/, more or less like QuickNote http://www.quicknote.de/ and can sync with simplenote. But can not mark note to a doc/prog like GumNotes.

Next I tried Stickes http://www.zhornsoftware.co.uk/, which can mark note to a doc/prog but the logic is not good as like GumNotes.

I have more or less decided to make one for myself and use ResophNotes's text file option to sync with Simplenote.

Before I embark, please throw light to me to see another free one which does all these and may be more, and I will embrace it.

Embarked and brought the fruit below  :)

Description
I use many programs which has one good feature, which I like, compare to others.
Now it so happens that the developer of the program names the exe in a small
way. If it is a portable then it is near to impossible for me to find out the
program whose that feature I remember and need it.

Also it may so happens that I found a 6 month old program on my computer and do
not remember what feature is better in it, or did I even liked it.

I need some sort of note to put against each program where I mention which
feature I like and can use in future.

I searched but none available free once could do do the job satisfactorily.

I developed Stick A Note.

Find And Run Robot / Re: Hanging behavior -- FARR Problem?
« Last post by anandcoral on November 12, 2011, 01:20 AM »
@IainB, it looks like there are many folders/files in "Search Folder" Options of FARR. So it is taking long time to load the relevant ones from these.

Try reducing the folders/files or add 'file extension' like 'exe' only to read from the folder. This may reduce the FARR load time and leave others for the queue. I once had similar problem and doing the above helped it.

Anand

Thanks @Ath for the feedback.

Adding some alternate method is good suggestion and I will try to implement it. "Window title shown" is easier alternate and I will first try on it.

I will suggest Process Tamer https://www.donation...proctamer/index.html, freeware by our own Mouser.

Not only you can see the top CPU using process (it hides the idle ones by default), it also 'tames' them by lowering their priority if any one goes beyond the limit. All work is done auto. After I started using it, I forgot when was the last time my machine freeze.

Give it a spin.

@ewemoa, I will put the checksum on the website next time, also will change the App to report the total time, thanks.

@Ath, it is based on CPU load, as that is the only measurement for all process in general. I will like to hear how it works in client/server setup.

@kyrathaba, just posted another pledge Tell When Done.

Now since there is a limit of only two pledge by each contributor, I feel a bit bonded as there is another one going inside my mind.

Since by habit most of the developers are still in their leisure mood, they will pick up as the door closes  :), I think we may increase the number of pledges.

What do you suggest ?

NANY 2012 Entry Information

Application Name Tell When Done
Version 1.6.0
Short Description Watches a program window, which is doing some process, and tells when it has done it's processing. Effectively freeing the user to do another job in another window, without worrying about it.
Supported OSes WinXp and above
Web Page https://sites.google...m/site/tellwhendone/

Author Anand K Gupta

Description
Many a times I run a program which does some process and displays a report/log etc. This program just shows a spinner/marquee which means I may have to wait 1/10/30 etc. minutes depending on the process. It also happens that I need to take next step after it has completed the process. Some programs do show some notification alert if it is in the background but many do not.

Now while watching the spinner, I feel like having a quick look at my Twitter stream/ Facebook notification/ New unread mail etc. So I just switch to another window do the look and switch back to find that the process is still going on.

I do this switching and at one time get so engrossed in reading new mail and its link that I forget when 20 minutes has gone by. I suddenly realize and switch back to find the program has done it's processing long time back.

Enough. I am the master of the computer and not the other way around. I want all programs to tell me when it has done it's process, so that I can concentrate on useful work instead of looking at a spinner.

Tell When Done is born.

Pressing Win+t (changeable) hotkey on the program which is doing some process, activates it to watch it and tell me when it has done the process. The notification is displayed above all windows so that I can not miss it.

Anand
