Similar to what jgpaiva said. Maybe the system in itself is not the problem, but the way it is communicated is. I.e. make it easier for new users to understand. That might also mean explaining it in languages other than English.

FARR Plugins and Aliases / Re: FARR plugin: FARR Remember The Milk 1.1.2
« Last post by phitsc on February 21, 2011, 01:59 PM »
Phitsc,

Thanks for the help, turning on parsing worked wonders for me! Just one more question (for now that is : )

Can I add a task and complete it with the same command? (I use RTM to keep track of the things i've done in a weekly report to my manager).

Example:

rtm a printed TPS reports for Andrew /completed (some other command)

Forgive me if it's obvious, thanks!

I'm afraid that's not currently possible.

My Environment:
WinXP SP3, WDS4.0, I also updated fscript.dll to 1.20.

BTW: In Win7, has no the problem.

Does it freeze no matter what you search for? or only certain searches? Do you have Outlook installed on the PC where it freezes?

Well yeah, I worked with it for  long time, actually it was the reason why I use remember the milk rather than toodledo. It just kind of stopped working suddenly once.

I did use it really often though.

Musubi, would you mind checking if the problem is related to one of your tasks by creating a temporary RTM account and connecting to it with FarrMilk?

I'm going add some logging (or activate it, if it already has some, can't remember) for trying to find what the problem is at your end.

Well here's what I did now:

I  uninstalled farr and deleted all the settings program folder, app data folder etc.
Then I installed it and used your installation exe.
And then I write rtm in far and it crashes - it doesn't even get to the point in which I link it to any account.

Not happy to hear that :(. But thanks for checking it out anyway. Ok, I'll give you a shout when I have a FarrMilk version which tells us how far it's getting until it crashes, if that's ok.

Hi Phitsc,

I saw in your posts how to set a task to be due today or tomorrow, using the /today /tomorrow switches, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to set something to be due at a specific date and time.

When I put
/due friday

it just makes a task with the name "/due friday"
Everything else about this plugin is AMAZING, but this is infinitely frustrating. Please help save me in my ignorance!

Hi iota,

Glad you like FarrMilk. Besides the /today and /tomorrow switches, there are two other ways to set a due date:

1. Enable Smart Add (in the options). With Smart Add enabled, you can type something like 'rtm a Buy milk next Monday' and RTM will parse the task name for something it considers to be a due date.

2. Use FarrMilk's /due switch like this (examples):
rtm a Buy milk /due:21.3.
rtm a Buy milk /due:"13.4.2011 12.45"

Note the following:
- When a parameter value (the stuff after the : ) contains a space, it needs to be enclosed in "
- The order of day and month depend on your regional settings
- The dividing char can be any of the following: / - . :

vlastimil, just want to thank you again for the free license for your RealWorld Icon Editor. I'm working with it right now and although what I do with it is certainly far from its capabilities I have to say that I find it bloody excellent!

p.s. I know it's not the right place to ask :(, but well...
When I copy a certain region from one icon to another, it would be really helpful if, when I paste that region, it would get pasted at the exact same position where it was in the source icon. Can I do that somehow?

I feel kind of generous, WTH, whoever from the participants wants a free license to my icon editor

That is an absolutely wonderful gesture, vlastimil.  Very cool. :D

That is indeed very nice of you vlastimil! Thank you very much for this generous offer.

Developer's Corner / Re: "competitive upgrade" - is it ethical?

I just saw that SpiderOak has a "competitive upgrade" offer. Apparently Mozy has dropped unlimited storage plans so SpiderOak is offering 20% off with 'mozy' coupon code.

From Twitter:
#Mozy Drops Unlimited Storage - http://t.co/5fuZuvZ Get 20% our premium storage off via code 'mozy' when you switch to Spideroak.com #backup

Does anyone have experience, good or bad, with SpiderOak?

Would you mind disabling all other plugins for a while just to make sure it's not caused by any other plugin?
717
Another solution would be that FARR support the hosting of multiple plugins inside one DLL

i think it can be done, in one way or another -- ecaradec and i will discuss it more!

Yes, that sounds like a good solution, if from FARR's point of view it seems feasible.

Question : Since this fscript.dll can be found in several places, where do I have to paste the v.1.20 ?

I think what CyberEvil did was replace the dll in all of the places, i.e. in all Plugin-directories where you find it.
719
(Why arent the old scattered dlls in the various plugin folders simply crushed by the new fscript version whenever it's updated ? I know that I look stupid at the moment as I'm missing something, obviously...)

I think it's a fair point. The only problem that comes to mind is compatibility problems for plugins that depend on a certain fscript.dll version. FScript2 would allow them to still use their old version of fscript. But as this is just what we don't want...

You don't think that doing a wrap up of the previous year's achievements wouldn't work? for which badges could also be given??

Seems to me that reminding people of the great benefits of DC have given over the past 12 months could have lots of nice follow ons...

Sounds like a very nice idea to me!  :-*

Don't worry mouser. I'll release the plugin when it's done, be it NANY or not. I must learn to put personal recognition in the form of nice colourful badges aside and try to strive for inner peace instead (or something like that ;)).

I think mouser would have a fit if you withheld a FARR plugin for nearly a year.   :D

And we don't want that, do we ;)

Do you have any idea what a mess that would make out of the NANY (badge) icons debate..?  :o

Ha, now we're getting to the point. I was *actually* wondering if I should wait with releasing that cool new FARR plugin I've been working on lately just so that my NANY icon shows a 3 instead of a 2. :P

i wonder if the solution to this might be to have a mid-year event celebrating the UPDATING of our apps?

And if I then want to bring something new mid-year? ;)

N.A.N.Y. 2011 / Major feature instead of new up for NANY?
« Last post by phitsc on January 24, 2011, 02:01 AM »
I'm wondering if it wouldn't be a good idea to extend NANY to allow major feature updates of an existing application instead of it having to be a new one. The reason being that a major feature could require just as much time as a new app but could potentially be more useful to users than if I just come up with something tiny. I'd have no problem to let someone like mouser or Perry judge if a suggested feature qualifies for NANY or not.

Maybe we'd have to find a new definition for NANY though ;)
