even though your first post shows 1.0.0.135, the title bar on the menu  shows 1.0.0.115.  the    about window also shows 115

I just downloaded what I thought was version 122 but it says its 115.  It doesn't have the extra 4 or so columns either.

I guess, I was assuming if it can find network printers then the same technology should be able to find access points.

But that is ok, I can just manually make my own list of AP's.  Sometimes its nice to run a scan and see what's there.

oh well...

I don't think that netstumbler will give you the nice list showing all the information at one time without clicking on each access point.

actually I do use it some on my laptop.  I was thinking more of something that could be used on a desktop with a wired connection.

Sorry, I wasn't very clear in my thoughts.

perhaps I should have stuck this in the Nany 2010 program idea thread but at the time I couldn't find that thread.  Besides, I figured it might be a little late for that.

after seeing Stoic Joker's Nany app for printers, it got me thinking about a similar app.  See this

Something similar that could find all the Access Points on a network and would report back:
IP address
MAC address
SSID
make and model
firmware version

and then report them all on one page.

is this possible??

not that big of a deal to me SJ.  My teachers are pretty conservative so they don't use a great amount of toner.  Besides as Mouser pointed out, you can right click the printer and choose webaccess.  edit: to check the toner amount that is.

thanks for the info, SJ.  I knew that the gauge was somewhat recent.

Not that I would ever want you to try anything that would crash your app.

I currently use the web interface to check toner levels and page counts.  And I was just looking for a way to get everything on "one page".  mac address, serial number, etc.

this is something I have desired for a while.  I just never thought to ask about it.  not that I ever did ask for it. :-[

Thanks SJ.  I cannot wait to try it tomorrow.  we had a snow day off today, but since I am only 2 blocks from school; I will go over tomorrow even if we don't have school.

I like the fact that it gives the page count too.  Could it also give the amount of toner left too?

speaking as someone who doesn't code, I feel right at home here.  I am responsible for 250 or so computers on our school network.  I find my friends on DC to be very knowledgeable, friendly, and more than willing to help.  You can also find an occasional post about something that doesn't even apply to technology.

now if you were to mention "Spinrite" you might just get f0dders attention.   :P  But he is gentle about giving it.  Oops.  I meant to say he will give you his thoughts but in no way does he get nasty about it.  very gentle.
