What bothers me about the whole thing is: this idea that you can win a war. I suspect the only people who really believe that, are people who have never been invaded, or have never lived in a warzone.

Think about it this way, say you want to teach someone a lesson. Beating the crap out of them is one way of doing it, but they're probably not going to forget and/or forgive for a very long time. As to whether they actually take your "lesson" on board, well...

I grew up in a time & place where, within a couple of hundred miles of me, people were killing each other on an almost daily basis - for twenty years and more. Each side was trying to persuade the other side of something, or get "justice" - or revenge - or all of these things. People talked about atrocities that happened decades, even centuries previously. At one stage, I even believed that one side was "right". I didn't condone what they were doing, but "understood" where they were coming from. All BS in the end. Cause violence as a solution to a problem just makes things worse, and worse, and worse.

I'm not saying I have alternatives, or god help us, the answers. I'm just pointing out: it's not as simple (unfortunately) as lots of people would like to think it is.

Thunderbird has similar heuristics.

I've been using Thunderbird for many years. Can't remember ever having seen that. But then I never read the help file ;)

it's been asking here since an update a while back (couple months ago).

Hey, housetier,
the reality is that this forum is a mix of different people with often (very) different ideas of what's acceptable or not. I thought the response was very mixed - yours was the clearest to say it was unacceptable. You cant persuade anyone of anything at the end of the day though, so really, what more can you do?

It's definitely still your forum, so take some time....

Anyone know are they going to do that again this time around, where the 40% upgrade price is only for a limited time?
For a limited time, ...

I personally find this "limited time" thing offensive - instead of making me want to buy it before the time runs out it makes me want to move to another file manager.
Dont get me wrong, I love Dopus, and I respect that they make it an expensive product - in general it lives up to it's price.
But this limited time thing is like a slap in the face, first they make it very expensive which, as I say, is absolutely fair enough. But to put the pressure on and say:- if you dont get it now, it's going to be even more expensive - that's too much for me.

I'll see have they implemented anything I want or need...

I cant remember the exact details with version 9. They did announce per email at the time, that the upgrade price was for a limited time only (a few months?) - after which a new and more expensive upgrade price went into effect...

Over.

I get annoyed if it's facing the wrong way, and I definitely correct the error - also if I'm visiting other people :)

I've gotten in trouble for that ("correcting the error" when visiting others...)

@tomos

I'm not so sure about the truth of that.
me neither lol

Still, I would be interested to read from someone that would actually do an impartial and clean investigation to find out exactly what is happening. Or at least up to the point of the Apple "black box".

i could add -- a full screen/window gallery of all thumbnails in the current group/entire database.

I could see myself using this (but more if vector support were introduced) - the thumbnails would definitely need to be proportional here (to original clip).

So, I guess that's a +3/4 :p

EDIT/ where's the link for the most recent beta?
is it still here (bottom of page 1 of this thread) if so, I'm okay
V2 Beta with image support is here:

interesting stuff going on here  :)

So my question is, is this something people think is important to have an option for -- an option to size menu thumbnails for clips to preserve their aspect ratios?

this could certainly be helpful, but could be a PIA in terms of space used in the quick-paste list [=undecided]

they do claim that:

The location data that researchers are seeing on the iPhone is not the past or present location of the iPhone, but rather the locations of Wi-Fi hotspots and cell towers surrounding the iPhone’s location, which can be more than one hundred miles away from the iPhone.

which should be easy to check - and does not excuse the underhandedness of it all [edit] and probably still makes it fairly easy to track a person, if you wanted to [/edit]

Maybe The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame, first published in 1908?

he found the book! - but speaking of Wind in the Willows - I just got a copy lately,
so I could, as superboyac says "relive some pretty bitchin childhood memories" :D

I just love those illustrations by Shepard

A new favourite of mine: MClickFocusTab. No more "right-click > Open in background tab", just middle-click the link, and it will open in background tab/window.

but Ctrl+Click does that already - or is that only with Tab-mix-plus?  :-\

what app is it that you are testing vector stuff on?

well I'm using FreeHand which is defunct as a piece of software - but illustrator** works (roughly)  the same way AFAIK - I've pasted basic vectors between the two - without problems - so I think windows seem to be able to cope with them...

In fact I remember being very surprised one day when I accidentally pasted part of a vector contour map into a FileHamster comment window - which saves comment/text files - I even have a screenshot of that somewhere :-)

** I actually have a recent copy of illustrator, but after a very destructive install, I removed it and still havent reinstalled it. I plan to install it again but seem to be putting it off until really I need to I guess

Working fine here
(havent gotten the last minor update yet)

I notice it converts vector clips to bitmap images - I mean 'pixel' images. I've seen this in other clipboard extenders as well.
It uses a very low resolution though - the clips are useless really.

I presume it's not possible to save vector clips "as is"?
If not,
my ideal would be to convert them to a much higher resolution, but also give the option to disable saving of vectors

A Canticle for Leibowitz is one of my all time favorite books. There's also a sequel, but he doesn't appear to have read that.

I read that years ago - I never would have guessed it's so old - 1961. A very good book all right.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: can I add new favourite to "end" of list?
« Last post by tomos on April 27, 2011, 04:51 AM »
Thanks mouser

I think that should be the default sort for the Favourites list - it is a permanent list, and as such one (me, anyways) would expect newer items to be added to the end of the list. Or simply a manual sort where the clip most recently added to Favourites goes to the bottom the list.

=> How do you make the sorting manual ?

there's some nice stuff in that other thread btw, have yet to try stack (but going for the "images" beta first :-*
