Screenshot Captor / Re: It makes me crazy ... SC zoom while i'm screening
« Last post by mouser on December 19, 2014, 11:14 AM »
We do need to get this fixed -- there is no reason it should be happening.
You're using the latest version of SC, right?

What I wish I knew is if this is that old problem that came back or something different..

Try using
Code: Javascript [Select]
  1. function onProcessTriggerV2(path, title, groupname, pluginid, thispluginid, score, entrytype, args, triggermode) {

on your same dll

Welcome to the site, benjarry!

It's been so long since I used fscript, but it looks to me like you are doing things correctly.
At some point FARR moved from OnProcessTrigger to OnProcessTriggerV2 with a different set of parameters, and it caused some weirdness with fscript.  I know that was resolved but I think it may still be out of date in some way.
I think that's related to your issue but I'm still trying to remember the solution -- I hope someone else will jump in here but I will try to look around in the mean time.
So please don't give up, we'll figure this out

LaunchBar Commander / Re: Sort by date
« Last post by mouser on December 19, 2014, 10:32 AM »
You mean you've got a descending DATE sort?

Using divider option in Alpha sort mode is simple -- it divides into sections for each letter.
Using divider option in Date sort mode is more interesting.  It basically groups the first group into files within an hour from each other, next group within a day of each other, next group within a week, next groups within a month.  Enable the timestamp option to see the actual dates for the files/folders so you can better understand.

I'm afraid it doesn't look like there's a way to make LBC see changes to environmental variables without restarting it.

So it sounds like maybe the best we can do in this case is help you figure out how to make work the idea of restarting LBC from within itself easily -- where did you get stuck there>

  • [MinorFeature] Added shortcut to Control Panel itself in control panel shortcut list.
  • [MinorFeature] Maintenance check for missing images and commands now reports each node's internal id.
  • [MinorFeature] Dropping a shortcut file and telling LBC to copy shortcut properties will now use shortcut name as node caption.

Question -- is it having trouble opening files with spaces in the name or only files that have spaces at the BEGINNING or END of their filename?

Implemented; will be in next beta release.

As hinted at in the screenshot above, i've added a couple more features that will hopefully enhance the sort-by-date option.

DS9 was a completely different beast from the other shows because of the central role of long running story arcs.  As such, it requires more deliberate and in-sequence watching.

One critique -- I don't understand how so many voyager or Enterprise episodes infiltrated the better rankings.. IMHO they all belong in the lesser half of the ordering.. The only way I was able to watch that show was by pretending Janeway was mentally ill.  And Enterprise I could not even watch -- in fact until reading that list I had forgotten all about it.

Nice list of all episodes of the tv show ranked and with short descriptions; great stuff for those looking to watch a few choice episodes.  Just reading the top picks at the end tells me this reviewer is worth paying attention to.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Screenshot Captor review by Softpedia

Awesome, thanks for sharing that!

"Screenshot Captor is just not another average screen grabber. It stands out thanks to its multitude of editing tools and file management options. It can be used for simple daily tasks up to complex jobs where you need to take lots of screenshots and edit them in detail. The advanced feature pack and comprehensive suite of configuration settings make it a serious competitor to other software programs that are not free, and place it in the category of one of the best screenshot capture utilities on the market."

p.s. I'm going to move this post to the Screenshot Captors review thread in a little bit.

This seems like a task for a good text editor.  PsPad is free and can do this and would make a good utility to have on hand.

New minor beta uploaded, just getting back into the swing of things.  Although it is a very minor feature, the new (and default) print option to automatically choose page orientation based on aspect ratio of the image seems long overdue.

v4.9.3 BETA - December 16, 2014
  • [Feature] New print option (default) to match automatically page orientation to screenshot aspect ratio.
  • [MinorFeature] Added keyboard accelerator for Edit -> Select -> Remember item.
  • [BugFix] Uploader dialog was opening on wrong initial tab.
  • [BugFix] Patch region special effect was missing last row+column.
  • [Change] If you try to minimize SC and have unsaved changes, choosing cancel/dontsave will now still minimize the program.
  • [Feature] When you have multiple arrows selected and change arrow properties, all properties are updated except text labels.
  • [Feature] You can now save and load object preset files (saves and loads all properties of objects like arrows, text memos, etc); you can select some objects and apply an object preset file to change the properties of the selected objects.  It will save the settings of the current tool, or all tools if not in a specific object mode. See Objects menu. To show the Saved presets on the main toolbar (instead of as a submenu of Objects menu) see the "More Interface Options" tab.

Developer's Corner / OS News on The Devaluing Effect of the Application Store Model
« Last post by mouser on December 15, 2014, 07:02 PM »
There's a post at OS News today that discusses some of the real negative impacts of Apple and Android App Stores and the "Freemium" model:

Screenshot - 12_15_2014 , 7_01_48 PM_thumb001.png

http://www.osnews.co...lication_store_model

Apple (and Google) have instigated a race to the bottom, massively devaluing the work of developers... I have never made a secret out of my dislike of the application store model, exactly because of what it does to independent developers. It devalues their work, and independent, small development houses will simply be unable to survive in this race to the bottom. The end result? Apple and a few large companies win, but independent developers and users lose.
