Kiki Dee has always done alright by herself, but it took Elton John to make her famous to the masses (Don't Go Breaking My Heart). Her friendship with Carmelo Luggeri has made her take another Walk Of Faith and play this different (traditional) style of music, compared to her younger (jazzy) days.

Supposedly this is the last FF that will let you opt out of signed AddOn enforcement by using the about:config setting xpinstall.signatures.required
Watch out for this one though, if I recall, this is the one it stops being a warning and "auto -blocks" unsigned add-ons so I dunno what that means for various people. I certainly haven't examined my addons in detail ...
NOW 43.0.3 is available.

it went well; all my addons are still working (because of xpinstall.signatures.required=false) in 43.0.3

Celebrating New Year a little (too) early, wrong IainB? Most people are aware that such killer app was first introduced by Slartibartfarst, but it turned out to merely be a killer nap.

I agree with Renegade, PDF is not to play with, only to fight with.

When I once had a printing job like the one Contro described, I printed each document (1 Word + 3 Pdf) - and only afterwards, I manually mixed the printed papers, to make it look as if it all was one big printing job.

If I had to do it again, I would first convert one or the other format. All pdf, or all Word.

43.0.2 has not yet been localized, so around "here", 43.0.1 is still the newest

My ABBYY Screenshot Reader would not recognize it as Japanese, Chinese or Korean - simplified or traditional.

you should be whipped, all of you. How dare you talk about this update without telling that 43.0.1 will disable any addon not signed! I want to whip certain people right now. Whip! whip! whip!

Why the Doberman mascot?
Andy

When creating WinAntiRansom we realized the power of what we were writing and the fact that we were treading into uncharted territory. With this in mind, we began a search for our mascot. We wanted a dog up to such a challenge.

Upon reading about the heroism of the Doberman's used in World War II, we knew we had found the one! Now to pick a name. All of the stories we read were inspiring, but we had to decide on just one name. It was not an easy decision, but after much consideration we chose Andy, in honor of the Dobe who led "the Raiders" inland on the first day of the attack on Bougainville.

Now, he is leading us in our fight against Cyber Criminals and Ransomware.

General Software Discussion / Re: Low Audio Levels
« Last post by Curt on December 14, 2015, 05:58 PM »
It's quite important if your audio files are recorded with the same volume level. As you can see in attached photo, the volume levels on these two collections are different from each other with more than 14dB (from 83.9 to 98.2 dB). Such a difference is noticeable.

I am surprised how you focus on getting a high sound pressure / loud volume. Your computer's amplifying system is analogue and not of high quality (if it's a normal PC), and very often the digital output to the amplifier is 'over-steered', so the louder you play, the more distortion you'll get. But maybe your computer is a Hi-Fi version? (Does young people of today even know what "Hi-Fi" means? Maybe they think it's a version of hi' five?)

On my PC I record at approx 89 dB (which is 6~10dB lower than most CDs are recorded) and have the digital volume output set at 70~80% => this low signal gives my external amplifier and loudspeakers the best sound quality. If I want to turn up the volume, I will never turn up the computer's digital signal, but the external, analogue signal.

oh, Thanks a lot, 4wd!  You have been donated...

Looking in task manager's log, it was easy to see that the right solution not is to quarantine a program; the log was full of >> RuntimeBroker.exe 1660 terminated, worked 0:04, CPU 0:00 C:\Windows\System32\RuntimeBroker.exe   <<-lines.

Still having "Open in RegEdit" installed (Mozilla is wrong, the addon is not too old, but works absolutely flawless, when finally installed) in Firefox, it took a couple of seconds only, to use your quoted trick.
Again, Thank You!

Problem solved, the right way.

General Software Discussion / Runtime Broker problem solved?
« Last post by Curt on December 12, 2015, 07:24 AM »
hm... In my AnVir task manager I right-clicked Runtime Broker, and selected Block Process (Quarantine)
-and then recorded a full album online, without any problems.

Problem solved?  :-\  Time will tell
693
Since I don't use any Windows apps, (only a local account), I disabled the Time Broker service which kills Runtime Broker.

^ I didn't respond to this, because I have not yet been able to find this Time Broker service.
Probably because names on services are translated into local language.

modified
Can I do anything to TimeBrokerClient.dll or TimeBrokerServer.dll  :tellme:

694
Heres a microsoft article about Runtime Broker on windows 10 using too much memory. http://windows.micro...sing-too-much-memory

^thank you for finding this, hamradio!
Another good link could be https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3fe1lx/runtime_broker_cpu_usage_fix/

------

Turns out the owner is Trusted Installer. I wonder if I should take ownership, and maybe rename Runtime Broker to prevent it from starting in the first place? I have never had any connection (that I know of) to Windows_Store. My Win_10 is like a new Win_7, I don't have any "apps"; everything "for your comfort" has been disabled.

Can my laptop live without Runtime Broker?  :tellme:

695
I should of course have told that I am using Streaming Audio Recorder [SAR], to record the audio in question. So maybe the sinner is SAR?

Also, I am on a 32-bits Windows_10_Pro 4GB_RAM Dell laptop.
696
What is Runtime Broker, and Why is it working so pathetically bad?
It's using half the CPU, when I have played maybe a dozen audio files online!

 >:(

I have not yet checked if the problem is global, or if it only is when I use my local ISP, (musik.yousee.dk).

I can play the first 10 numbers, with no problems of any kind. Suddenly the sound will start stumbling and the computer will use 100% CPU. When I fight my way to have a look in task manager, Runtime Broker is using at least 48% CPU - and Firefox another 40% and some container 10% Anything left?

Unfortunately you cannot play the full numbers, (http://musik.yousee....mp;albumId=115607586) so there is no easy way to replicate the problem.

Or am I the only one having major problems with (Firefox and) Runtime Broker?  :-\
