Head Up   appreciated, Wildgoose. There are so many things I don't understand (and probably never will), so I am bound to keep on asking!  8)

Just follow the link and read about SoftCAT PLUS - but I haven't checked if it will do drives or merely a drive.

General Software Discussion / Re: Repair hotkey in Maxthon 1.6 on XP ??
« Last post by Curt on August 10, 2007, 04:47 PM »
In general, any tabbed program supports ctrl+tab ;)

I have had no experience with tabbed programs before I got this XP five months ago. Well, there was Firefox, but I always just clicked the tab, because I didn't know there were more to be discovered. Thanks a lot, all of you, it has beeen educating to read your answers to this little question of mine.

----
But still, @anyone, How does one repair the error, this frustrating "Ctrl+Arrow versus Ctrl+Shift+Arrow" situation? Do I need to edit the registry? Do "you" KNOW??

----
Edit: We have handled the problem but not the reason...: there is an error on my PC!! >:(

You're right; Ctrl+Tab is the same; one more feature I didn't know of!

Yes, lanux, and thank you: now the problem is hidden,

- but then again, that is all it is; hidden. I was imaging that someone could direct me so I somehow could edit a registry key and make the problem go all away... but I surely can live with this, because Ctrl+Shift+Arrow is far more important to me than a hotkey for tab switching.

Thanks a lot!

General Software Discussion / Repair hotkey in Maxthon 1.6 on XP ??

XP Home SP2 & Maxthon 1.6 & "Ctrl+Shift+Arrow versus Ctrl+Arrow".

Whenever I write a forum post (like now) my memory will tell me that Ctrl+Shift+Arrow will mark the words to the right/left. In Maxthon, Ctrl+Arrow (without Shift) will change tab focus. But somehow my versions of Maxthon can not figure out to differ between Ctrl+Arrow and Ctrl+Shift+Arrow, so whenever I try to mark the words in a post, Maxthon will swift to another tab! This is frustrating, and I have of course searched and searched inside Maxthon to find this shortcut, or at least find anything related on how to change it / correct it - but in vain. It *seems* that I have to manipulate the registries?

I have of course installed a new version on top of the "old", but that didn't change anything.
I also have tried to uninstall various plugins, and that didn't help either.
I have removed as many hotkeys as posible.
The problem is not new to me.

So now I am asking if any of you hot shots know where I can change / repair this hotkey?  :tellme:

General Software Discussion / Re: how can I convert swf files to avi?
« Last post by Curt on August 10, 2007, 01:10 AM »
I will second that SUPER may be one of the finest converters you can have, but to call it "the easiest way"? No, I cannot second that! It took me a long time to learn how to use SUPER the best way, and during that process I found quite a number of converters that would do the job   as good or even better   easier. Anyhow; there was no problem with the flash file which started this thread. My guess is that the "300.000" he saw in TaskManager made him think it ...[deleted nonsense]. I tested the file, and it was all normal.

Customizability is a good thing, but cannot be the goal itself, can it. If M2 stays as slow as Firefox, but doesn't have the same endless list of extensions as the fox, it may need further raison d'ˆtre. I keep using Max 1.6 for the speed, not for the number of extensions or the customizing. Don't get me wrong; I would love to have all the same extensions for Maxthon as I have for my Firefox, but because of the lack of speed I only use Firefox when I need a feature from one of the addons. If Firefox was as fast as Maxthon 1.6  I would always use Firefox! On the other hand, if Maxthon had the same useful addons as Firefox  I would never use Mozilla!

M2 is still a baby, and a lovely baby that is! Now, please concentrate on speed and addons!

Edit:  I too want the navigation buttons (go + back) to be in the center of the toolbar.

Today I recieved an email from Major Geeks telling that Advanced WindowsCare v2 Personal 2.51.802 had been launched, so I thought I would let EasyControl handle this update. But to my horror it took me to CNET download.com - which has never offered me a download speed higher than 32 KB/S - no, not 32 MB, but KB. I for one will never use CNET if I know of other download sites, so I am bound to ask you if it may be posible to code some other links, please?

Seems there's no reason to mention Antivirus, Firewall, Antispyware programs, or Process Tamer!, - so my answer is Outlook 2003, Maxthon 1.6, RealPlayer 11 Beta, and Volumouse, - and PS Tray Factory, PS Hot Folders, True LaunchBar, M8 Clipboard, FastStone Capture + Viewer, and Process Explorer, and...

General Software Discussion / Re: What's your music player of choice?
« Last post by Curt on August 09, 2007, 09:26 AM »
Wow, CleverCat, my 5 dollar Ashampoo Photo Commander is a media player as well - and I didn't know! Nice to see it also play the divx files, but sad to see it won't handle FLV; have you found some kind of plugin to make it play flash videos?
6614
@ Cavalcader; the media player (sorry; THIS media player) needs the CPU all of the time, but is almost never foreground program but almost always "background" / hidden to tray. Windows Media Player 11 is quite genius at this point, but at the same excercise RealPlayer 11 is still truly beta - plus, I don't think RealPlayer 11 Beta is using a buffer (but I'm not sure). Frankly, I just want WMP to play all of my music files, so I can do without the (not so) Real concept.
6615
Yes, it is fairly safe. On my previous PC with Windows 2000 Pro I tried to run RealPlayer 10 at RealTime (24) without any problems that I can remember. But it is not preferably. How does one tell 60 (or 300) apps they are of less importance? Should I mark all of them "Force below normal"? No, surely that is not what you meant.
6616
Please, add a "Close" or "Exit" button!

At the end of the major "Setup Wizard" procedure  there is a box saying "Please be sure to open all the programs you just installed before running any automatic maintenance. Click OK to re-start CompuTech EasyInstall" (with no other option than OK) - but that is a little too soon to click OK, isn't it (or a little too late to tell), as there has not yet been any chance to run all the new programs?? The info should be given sooner, or there should *preferably* be a "Close / Exit" button as well, I think, beside the final "OK" button.
6617
Feature Request:

A little more options in "Explicit Rule" => Force above High (16)
- or maybe even a scale with many figures?

For some reason the new RealPlayer 11 Beta will not play all steady when forced to the normal "High" (13), but will do hiccups and apparently needs a little more power reserved, say 16 - "Real Time" (24) is just too much for this, I think.

- please?  :tellme:

Sorry to hear about your browser problems, Renegade - I too have been there, writing the same post several times: How frustrating it is!

I use ALSong for music.
(...)
Disclaimer: I work for the company.

I have read and heard a lot of good things about ALTools (ALSong and ALShow), but have so far always decided not to try them out, because I much prefer a MEDIA player rather than a music player and a video player.

So: When are ALTools gonna launch a genuine media player (ALLPlay)  ???   ;)
- I cannot be the only one longing for this version!?   :tellme:

Half year ago I finally understood that one can have all sorts of music video files from uTube and places like that, so I started downloading - only to realize that my beloved RealPlayer 10.5 Premium wouldn't play the FLV files. So for six months I have beeen using this and that, but ended up with K-Lite Full Codeck Pack + Media Player Classic, and KM Player. They are both the finest.

But now RealPlayer 11 has been launched (still Beta) and I am back in the fold   because now it will play these common file types as well. I think RealPlayer ("Plus" / "Premium") and Windows Media Player 11 are the most userfriendly players you can have, but as long as WMP won't handle the flashes I will stick to Real.

Please forgive me for playing some home version kind of a net doctor, but I know from my many years of depression that the best medicine is sun, sun and sun (the sun works a lot better at the beach than everywhere else), and exercise - and some social stuff I still need to practice a lot more. Today I also know that rejection, lack of acceptance, and lack of forgiveness, can cause depression. Depression can of course be amplified by illness, but depression can itself cause illness, and long time depression will even damage the brains. I truly hope you'll find your way out of this situation, Carol; "you're worth it!"

As for the companies; I would think it okay to tell that the previous test results were lost together with the PC, before/without being published, so if you please could have another test trial? That is, if you really care to take on this big task again?
