In regards to the "Default Search Engine" question above - I have now added this as a settings option due to the newest feature addition (see https://www.donation....msg395959#msg395959)

--

Upcoming features list has been updated.
652
1. I use DuckDuckGo instead of Google. Is the search engine configurable?
2. I use a Mac. I'm assuming this is a Windows application?
3. We have ad filters at work. All I see at the download link is a bunch of "Access blocked - content alert" windows and a download link. Like... LOTS of content blocked. MediaFire?  Eww.
4. Where are notes stored? Cloud? Local? USB? Are they plain text? RTF? HTML?

1. I use DuckDuckGo instead of Google. Is the search engine configurable?
    -  The search engine is whatever you type into the search bar - Google is shown on the images because it was just easy to type :D
2. I use a Mac. I'm assuming this is a Windows application?
    -  Windows only (for now)
3. We have ad filters at work. All I see at the download link is a bunch of "Access blocked - content alert" windows and a download link. Like... LOTS of content blocked. MediaFire?  Eww.
    -  I will upload elsewhere if Mediafire is causing issues.
4. Where are notes stored? Cloud? Local? USB? Are they plain text? RTF? HTML?
    -  Wherever you want - Works the same as things like "Notepad" (Save using the dialog box)
653
Upcoming Features:
The following features have been added to Notey and will be released with the next version.

  • Study Timer
    -  Shows how long you have had the window open for (which I am counting as "Study Time")
(If it becomes apparent that it is needed, I will have the timer pause when the window loses focus)

Hey guys,

I am currently working on an Anti-Procrastination/Pro-Productivity tool aimed at students.

The software bundles some (what I would consider) very useful tools for when you are doing your studies or if you are researching/note-taking.

Main Screen:
Main.png

Current Features:
 • Split-Screen Work Area for Tab-less Browser and Notepad
(Notepad comes with some basic but useful formatting features)
 • Wikipedia Search
  Wiki.png
 • Search for a book via ISBN/Title/Author
  ISBN.png
 • Generate References/In-Text Citations (Harvard Referencing) with absolute ease!
  Citations.png
 • 20/20/20 Break Timer
  - This feature will warn you after 20 minutes, to look away from the screen for 20 seconds, at an object at least 20 meters away, in order to try avoid eye strain.
 • Hide Notepad
  - By right clicking on the top ToolStrip (Menu Bar) you can hide the Notepad Menu - I will add a shortcut/button for this at some point.
  • Show what time you opened 'Notey' (So you know how long you have been working for).
  - Visible at the top of the page.
  • Get total word count from the Notepad area.
  - Right click in the notepad window for this option.
  • Be warned before exiting if you have not saved your work.
  • Current time visible on main screen
  • Automatically saves Window Size, & Location
  • Useful Links/Favorites Section
    Useful Links.png

Planned Features:
 • Productivity Timer
   -  This will time how long you have been studying for and suggest breaks for you (to avoid things like eye strain) - The times will be user defined, but will also include some pre-defined times.
 • Anti-Social Networking
   -  This will bring up a warning (but not stop you from visiting) when you try to browse to any Social Network and try to stray you away from doing so.

I will be adding more features to the planned list soon, and will be releasing a development preview once I iron out a small bug that is causing the browser's URL bar to show "about:blank" on some websites after loading...It doesn't really affect anything, but it is really annoying so I'd rather fix it before releasing!

Download (Hosted by Mega.nz): https://mega.nz/#!3R...Fvx1kTBz1HmrhWbJE88I
Download Release Date/Time: 10th Feb 2016/08:20(am)
  - Bug Fix: issue loading to/saving to the Favs list.
  - Path Change: No longer installs to Program Files - Opts for "My Documents" instead.

Please uninstall any previous versions of Notey before installing.

After this version I am going to start adding the build number to the application (Which for some reason I have not done until now) which will help keep a better track of whether you have the latest version.

Would love to hear what you guys think and if you have any ideas for features I could add!

Chemically luminescent plastic light sticks that you bend to break the inner glass vial and shake to give a greenish light that's good for several hours, is non-electric and safe around gasoline spills, and waterproof

Longest description ever for a "Glow Stick" haha

OMFG *FacePalm* You have got to be kidding me?!?

NEVER Trust a Sensor to do an EyeBalls job!

Oh, don't get me wrong...I'll be keeping an eye on it, but those sensors will be handy for checking levels without having to go to the vehicle (I'm lazy!)

I read somewhere that if a person wants to pull over off the side of a road and sleep off 'one drink too many' while remaining in the vehicle, they can still charge you with a technical DUI if the car keys are in the car, so the suggestion was to put the keys on the road under the car; don't know how good the advice is, and I don't drink; so comment--anyone?

I was under the impression this is only if the keys are in the ignition (same as the UK), in the same sense as you could get charged with "Intention to drive without a license" if you have the engine running whilst in the drivers seat, and don't have a license (also the same if you are on the phone and have the engine running/are in gear) - It's safer just to turn off the engine and put the keys in your pocket IMHO...If you put the keys outside the vehicle, you risk them getting stolen or lost (sudden heavy rain could easily wash them away)

BTW your car is a beaut.

Thanks :)

And don't forget to prudently check the pressures on the car tyres at cold every couple of weeks, and on the spare tyre every couple of months, maintaining the latter at a few PSI above its highest normal recommended operating pressure (front/back tyres tend to have different recommended pressures).

This one isn't a problem in my new car as I get e-mail alerts if my tyre pressure is low (or my engine fluids), as well as an indication on the dashboard...and if I am really unsure, I can call the OnStar team and have them remotely check my Fluid Levels and Tyre Pressures...I find this odd and slightly daunting (Although I do currently run a 2012 model car...it isn't very well equipped...like..it doesn't even have satnav...about the most interesting feature on it is the fact I can listen to DAB radio...yeah...that's the selling point on that one *shrugs*)

Seeing as it's a new car you're may not have to really worry much about this aspect:

I know from using jump leads between cars that the quality of the cables and connectors make a huge difference, i.e. cheaper ones sometimes work, but often dont, for no obvious reason.

Not really fussed about the jump leads part of that one, mainly everything else it comes with.

Most of the items I have chosen are useful for if we go out at 2am and end up in Scotland or Wales (this happens way more often than you would think) and if we end up there...instead of driving straight home, we can just find somewhere to park, and go to sleep, and have he comforts of everything in the kit with us.  I agree that with it being a new car, the scenario of breaking down and being stranded are remote..but the possibility of visibility hitting 0 due to fog/snow/rain and us having to stop because of it, is very high (fog is a bit of a problem here and has caused us 1-2 hour stops more than I care to remember).

I'd just like to be prepared for any eventuality :D

I would recommend a green laser pointer or two - they're cheap, and if you are out of sight of the road for some emergency, the beam could help locate where you are. Or use it for a star pointer (as my son calls it) and point out the constellations before you head off to sleep.

Already own a couple of awesome ones (can be seen in pretty bright sunlight) because my dog things he is a cat and he chases the dot lmao

Living Room / In-Car Emergency Kit - Your Recommendations
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on February 05, 2016, 04:54 AM »
I currently have a new car on order (Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer SRi 1.6 Turbo) and was wondering what In-Car Emergency stuff you guys recommend!

2016-Vauxhall-Astra-Sports-Tourer-front-three-quarters.jpg

First off, I have chose this:

http://www.right-lig...able-floodlight.html
5-in-1 Solution

1) LED floodlight.
2) Battery jump starter (comes complete with jump start leads).
3) 150W 240V AC inverter to power laptops etc.
4) USB DC 5V 800mA output - to power mobile phones, tablets etc.
5) DC 12V car cigarette lighter output socket.
Features & Specifications:

Lumen Output: 2200 lumens.
Light Source: LED.
Run Time: High - 9 hours. Low - 21 hours.
Battery: 12V 14Ah SLA.

Seems like it will be very helpful in a lot of situations, and for the price is totally worth it!

I will also be getting:

• In-Car Inverter (12V>Normal Plug)
• Multipurpose Tools
• Privacy Curtains for all windows (These will be custom made by my mother to fit the windows and attach via suction cups)
• Double sleeping bag + double duvet (will be vacuum packed to minimize space taken)
• Toiletries
• Cheap prepaid phone (fully charged with credit for calls)
• Chocolates/Tinned Food/Energy Drinks/Tea Bags/Instant Coffee/Sugar/Coffee Whitener, etc
• Doggy Kibble (We have a dog, so...)
• Ramen Noodles
• In-Car Kettle (mainly so I can have coffee when in the middle of nowhere...we take random drives so this one is for convenience mainly)
• Mini Gas Stove

I've probably missed something, so I will update if I can remember - All of these will be going in a storage container of some sort in where the spare wheel usually would be (seeing as new cars don't come with a spare anymore...might as well make use of that space!)

We plan to sleep in the car on long trips, so a lot of this stuff will end up being used on our random camp-outs!
Anybody want to add anything, or suggest anything?

If you are having problems and can't work out how to do it, you should post in This Section - doing so will give you a bigger chance of receiving help using Screenshot Captor because it is the primary area for it :)

Failing that, you could always E-Mail mouser (The owner of DonationCoder.com and also the Developer of creenshot Captor) - You could also send him a private message via the forum..  We also have a Live Chat room where he can be found most of the time under the nickname "mouser".

There is also an extensive help file available for Screenshot Captor and dozens of screencasts which provide huge amounts of help.

General Software Discussion / Re: Windows XP Key Code
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on February 04, 2016, 08:06 PM »
There is a lot of software that allow you to retrieve your Windows product key:

HowToGeek has an article about this.
MagicJellyBean - you might have to look for an older version that supports XP, seems to have been bundled with adware, nowadays.
NirSoft - one of the places to look first on any piece of software that accesses core Windows functionality, the other one is SysInternals. Both offer suites of their software. Get both of them!
Belarc Advisor - oldie, but goodie.
SIW - I use this one in my own arsenal of portable tools.
I downloaded NirSoft from your link to its home page and installed it, and McAfee went totally bonkers and blocked installation and execution even though I told it to 'allow'; twice, and I still can't get nirsoft to run. mcafee is very annoying.

Get Belarc - I used that for Windows 7 multiple times (I have a tendency to lose my keys lol).

I'll certainly keep you updated on this though but if you have any thoughts on how you would like it to work, please let me know - Any ideas are very welcome  :D

What mouser said about being able to edit docs using the CMS system sounds important and useful -- at the same time, the option of being able to work with one's preferred tools (e.g. for editing) and then with minimal fuss update/post would be nice.

On a separate note, I may have missed it, but is there a link or three to be examined for a sneak preview?

I'll leave the first one to mouser (Seeing as editing off the website is something I have no clue about) :)

2nd: Nope, no preview link - asked mouser to lock it down because it's more fun to be able to surprise people when it's closer to completion (because, right now, things change, a LOT, so anybody who sees it, won't get a true representation of what to expect ^_^) - Though, if mouseman wants to offer a preview, then that's up to him :D

Sounds great Stephen (& mouser of course)

One thing I am still really excited about is the prospect of seeing the site constantly updated by anybody who writes articles for DC.  These will all be given a nice place to live on the main website rather than just a forum post, and the writers can keep things up-to-date far more easily through their own Editor Admin Page!

If anybody has any questions, then feel free to ask and I will happily answer!

1) will there be the ability to comment on/below articles?
2) will wiki-type pages be a possibility? (apologies if discussed before, I havent reread thread...)

1) will there be the ability to comment on/below articles?
    •  Not been discussed, but I don't really see why not.  I guess these could be either embedded on Joomla directly, or using something like "Disqus" - Again though, it hasn't been discussed so...yeah...I like the thought of it/would be happy to include the ability to do so! (Afterthought: I guess there might be a way for it to automatically create a forum post, then the comments would actually be held on the forum, but be able to be posted to/viewed from the article page...no idea if that is even possible and I'm literally just throwing out a random idea there!!!)
2) will wiki-type pages be a possibility? (apologies if discussed before, I havent reread thread...)
    •  Could you elaborate on this? :)
669
Update:

The greater majority of the sites primary pages have been translated into the CMS - These include (but are not limited to):

• All of the top level pages on the website
• All of mousers Software pages
• Some 'Level 1' pages (About/Privacy Policy etc)

Obviously there is still a whole bunch of work to do (mainly because there are a LOT of pages on DC) but a lot of the older pages won't actually be translated into the CMS and will just be moved as a basic page (no point spending ~1 month doing the pages that nobody ever uses anyway) - If there is a call for it, then pages can be moved over 1-by-1 after the site is launched (So if you think a page we didn't move should be moved, just let me know, and I will move it over!)

One thing I am still really excited about is the prospect of seeing the site constantly updated by anybody who writes articles for DC.  These will all be given a nice place to live on the main website rather than just a forum post, and the writers can keep things up-to-date far more easily through their own Editor Admin Page!

I can't find how to ignore certain topics.

Profile >Modify Profile >Ignore Boards Options

Thanks for that, but it's not quite what I'm looking for. I don't want to ignore an entire board. Just specific topic(s) within a board.

There used to be a way to do things like bookmark a thread, mark it as unread, mark it as "ignored", etc. All those options that used to exist have been replaced by a single button that just marks it as unread. :(

I've been begging for that "Ignore selected topics in the future" button back since the day the new forum came out - I've bugged mouser to do it and I am hoping it's on his to-do list - I think he got bogged down with CMS stuff amongst other things though :)
