Found Deals and Discounts / Windows 7 Pro Academic Discount
« Last post by cmpm on April 27, 2011, 04:12 AM »
$29.99, a very good price. I Doubt if there will be any better.
Probably cause w8 is coming, but nevertheless, with a .edu address,
you can get this deal.

http://www.microsoft.../buynow/default.aspx

following the links-

http://store.digital...US&SiteID=msshus

Looking through the FAQ, US, Canada and UK are eligible.
As well as ways to get it without a .edu address if your school does not provide it.
Plus there is a listing of schools as well, which may help.

You can get the 'WinX HD Video Converter Deluxe' free,
if you have a Facebook account.

http://www.facebook....VD?sk=app_7146470109

I think everyone wins if you click 'like'.
Took less then day to get the download link and code via the e-mail in your facebook account.

Correction, you send them an e-mail with your facebook or twitter posted link.
Worked for me.

Yes, thank you, much better and welcome to Donationcoder!
Uninstalled from the start menu and installed the latest version.
And it retained the code, although it's in my clip history....somewhere.

Maybe "Form History Control" will help replace Roboform.

https://addons.mozil...orm-history-control/

It doesn't do passwords so I use "LastPass" for passwords.

Maybe some of these tools would help, instead of one tool to do many things at once.

http://www.addictive...sed-on-date-created/

http://skwire.dcmembers.com/wb/
More specifically -

http://skwire.dcmemb...e/files-2-folder.php

If you can come up with a text file to make it work.

Found Deals and Discounts / Serif PhotoPlus 10 for free

http://www.serif.com/webuser/

via - http://www.tipradar.com

It does more then I thought, for a free Serif program.
This is not in the regular free Serif products section.

http://www.serif.com/FreeDownloads/

Starter Editions and templates mostly in that section.

Its not PhotoPlus X4, but it has some abilities you may want.

You may have to register, all they want is an e-mail address,
and the download link is sent to you.
The download is already licensed, registering is optional I believe, but I registered.

Sometimes that happens because my dpi is at 125%.
Mostly with DVD rippers for some reason.
I haven't tested the interface with normal dpi settings.

There is also-

and

Good on-line editor for Pixlr.
And a decent one for Awesome.

Thanks for the post Shades.

I really did not mean any malice to Michael or PE.
I try to stay even toned without any assumptions, and yet I'm called or accused of certain things as you see.

Anyone that can use Process Explorer and other tools, beyond the basics, can see what PE is using for it's resources and how much.

There was nothing 'snarky' (whatever that means) or arrogant in my posts. But an honest question and what I have checked out for myself.

Perhaps because of all the other comments it was taken that way.

I still am not bothered by any remarks, the net is a hard place to communicate sometimes.
Things get misunderstood in their intent.

Peace! Michael and all!
665
well...

I consider your sarcastic exaggeration as being emotional.

Is that inflammatory? As well as the rest of what you said to me?
I'll leave it up to those who read this.
666
Just because it's someone's first post does not make that person a troll.
Unless you can find a history of inflammatory posts by same person, it does not apply.

Do you really believe that a newcomer with serious intentions of joining a community would ever choose a first posting of that nature?

It's your 'PE is the only right choice' for this kind of program that is annoying to some.

Why are you so emotional? You know, that I never ever said or meant that.

Your heated way of argumenting at least now make me understand that you had no real intentions to seriously discuss at this thread. What a pity that you have motivations to act in this way.
-BartelsMedia (April 21, 2011, 09:12 AM)

You are funny in how you try to dismiss valid points.
I'm not emotional or heated about anything here.

Believe what you want to.
667
I didn't use windows task manger to observe PE and Auspex's resource usage.

The flood of words that follows that assumption is about PE.

And some misconceptions, or maybe redirection about my point.
668
I disagree, Michael, with your last post entirely.
Just because it's someone's first post does not make that person a troll.
Unless you can find a history of inflammatory posts by same person, it does not apply.

DC is a serious platform for discussion. You are trying to tell DC how to operate?
It's your 'PE is the only right choice' for this kind of program that is annoying to some.
669
System Resources - as in Memory and CPU usage.
Not how much room the files take up on the hard drive.

Are you just kidding around or just don't know what I'm speaking of?
I know what I'm talking about, I suspect the majority here do as well.

I don't have the need to click away from something that is not there.
Saving time.

670
Auspex does the same thing at far less resource usage.
Have you tried Auspex? If not, why not?

PE gets in the way of my typing,
where Auspex does not. But that's me.
672
Yes, I figured you had updated the drivers.
Sometimes I run on what windows provides automatically for a little while till I get to updating.

Reminds me of a card I bought once.
Everything was green, sent it back and ordered a better one.

Thanks for that about the memory not being a problem, f0dder.
673
If the abbreviations/hotkeys are sensible and intuitive, the number can be quite high...

Good point, and that would be for each individual.

PE is OK I suppose, a lot higher on resource usage than Auspex,
Auspex is more usable in my opinion because of it's ease of use.
More personable I think.
I only need my own auto complete and extras that Auspex can provide.
The number of abbreviations is of my own choosing and personal to me.
Most, so far, are not the standard acronyms but ones I relate to.

If I did a lot of typing daily, maybe PE would be more useful to me.
Or for some kind of business purpose.

I've tried it twice and removed it twice.

One program will not fill each persons requirements.

General Software Discussion / Re: Documents Organizer
« Last post by cmpm on April 17, 2011, 12:45 PM »
You could try Benubird, it handles most all extensions.
Include/exclude folders, subfolders and lots of extensions.
It's made to work with documents mainly, but .exe's are an option.
Not so sure about the dating of folders, I haven't tried that.
It will list all the files you want without actually moving the file.
Free so maybe worth a shot, works on Windows 7.

http://www.debenu.co...enubird/download.php
675
hm, another thought....

Computer - 256 Meg DDR2 SDRAM
Card - PCI Express 2.0 support and 1 Gig DDR3 SDRAM

Will that work?
DDR2 for the computer and DDR3 for the card?
