Just redownload and open the zip file.  Then look inside of the .reg file to see what changes were made.  Not sure how these reg hacks could affect Outlook like that - Just don't see the connection.

I'm confused as to what issues you are having.  To see what changes any of the Reg Hacks are doing just open the .reg file in notepad and you'll see whats going on.

Also, not sure what the Register DLL / OCX reg change has to do with its brothers, as you put it...

General Software Discussion / Re: EMS mysql manager.. looks pretty good...

I use SQL Manager for managing SQL server and love it.  I do go back and use the MS Tools just so I know how in case I'm not in front of my system and need to admin a database from a client's system.

For MySQL, I prefer the tools offered by MySQL and phpMyAdmin.

The VcmsPHP system is built and working flawless on several sites but I just haven't had the time to build the website as I am currently going through a major overhaul of my main website.

Too many projects, too little time...

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: eyeOS - Online "Operating System"

I believe folks are calling these "Online Desktops" nowadays

That's what I started noticing too.  Much closer to what it is and may even provide a more  technically accurate marketing platform to 'sell it'.

Plus with so many Digg like sites and the ease to find reviews on things anything that is inaccurate will just be ripped to shreds...

You always are when you access a website.  Its just in a limited way...

Is it just me or are others bothered by the term online OS?

Not sure there can ever be such a thing since an OS is an interface between the software and the hardware (so its a platform for which all other software will run).  If you don't have an OS, then you wouldn't be able to run a browser and therefore could not connect to this 'online OS'.

Not sure why that term bothers me so much but it does and it totally turns me away from testing any of these.

Call it what it is.  A customizable portal.

That way only provides a small snippet of the links. Using that method google shows around 600 links for my website.  Using webmaster tools I get 14K and I can download to a CSV file and get the links to every page in the domain, not s single url.

The Getting Organized Experiment of 2006 / Re: Do wallpapers aid your productivity?
« Last post by Veign on February 08, 2007, 09:49 AM »
Add guidelines to any image to show different resolutions. This is what my desktop looks like. I have my resolution set to 1280 x 1024 and have an image on my desktop with guidelines for 640 x 480, 800 x 600, and 1024 x 768. What this does is let me see how much of a screen an applications window will fill.

hey now that is clever.. i've never heard of that idea before. very clever.

Helps if you do any kinda of application development or web development work...

CDex is fast and I have never had a hiccup with ripping.  Once you get yourself a CDDB key (free) it will name all the tracks for you - probably done this way since its open source, not sure...

Post New Requests Here / Re: IDEA: to Shred a file already in Recycle Bin
« Last post by Veign on February 04, 2007, 03:23 PM »
If you select a file in the recycle bin and press "Delete" on your keyboard, it is deleted permanently.

What's the big deal again?

Delete does not mean unrecoverable.  Shredding a file usually refers to making it and the information unrecoverable or traceable

Living Room / Re: ASP or C# ?

ASP != ASP.NET

Your best bet is to go with PHP as it can be hosted on a Windows or Linux server and can create some pretty powerful web applications.  You just never know when MS will pull the rug out from under a technology again.

General Software Discussion / Re: MOVAVI,avoid this company like the plague
« Last post by Veign on January 30, 2007, 09:21 AM »
So, explain how a company would ever release a major update to software?  Give away licenses for free to people who just bought it within a year?  Not everyone is MS that can support many versions of the same application.

The company owes you nothing.  You purchased the software for what it was at the time is was bought.  You purchased the software for a chance that minor updates would be released within a year.  That is all.

I used to sell my software the exact same way.  Minor updates and bug fixes were free but a major update was not.  Since I was selling the software so cheap to start with I offered no discount when a major update came out.

This is a very common way of selling software and I could probably find hundreds of ISV that sell this way.

Trash them why?

I see nothing wrong with jumping from 4.4 to 5.0.  Thier software, their choice.  They didn't scam anyone or do anything underhanded.

Regardless of when they choose to go to the 5.0 version there will be users that had just purchased the software.  Small time software companies can't always provided convienent upgrade paths or discounts on upgrades.

Really, think again about what they really did wrong and don't just slam them because its not the way you would have choosen to do it.
