Temporary And Eternal [Happy Rhodes]

enjoyed that especially - there's a link to a better quality version of the same video here. It is kind of shocking when she starts singing deep after all that high singing!

oh yeah, FWIW, the Bowie cover is Space Oddity

Sorting files:

these arent buttons - they're just shortcuts so AFAIK they cannot be exported:
They're especially helpful when you want to change the sort in Thumbnail or List modes, but are also nice and zippy in details.
Each one will toggle ascending and descending i.e. just press shortcut again.

Sort by Filename Alt+1
Set Sortby=Name SortReverse Toggle

Screenshot - 2012-01-05 , 17_02_58.png

Sort by Last-Modified Date
Set Sortby=MODIFIED SortReverse Toggle

Screenshot - 2012-01-05 , 17_03_45.png

Alt+1 (by name) sorts A-Z initially (a on top of the list - ascending I guess)
Alt+5 sorts with most recent date to top initially

I got these on the dopus forums years ago, cant remember from who - the actual shortcuts were based on an earlier filemanager

^ another view one I use a lot:

Toggle Thumbnails and Details views with one shortcut:
Set VIEW=Details,Thumbnails

Screenshot - 2012-01-05 , 14_30_26.png

EDIT// note the Shift+[letter] no longer works in Dopus 11 :(
so you will want to use a different shortcut

EDIT2// ^Listary uses the Shift+T shortcut here for searching current folder - I use Shift+F for flatview - that still works without Listary popping up, so not sure what's going on. Not a Dopus problem anyway, I dont think.

I should also mention Steve Banham for starting the Opus Resource Centre web forums (which I admin these days,...)
Leo, "admin" doesn't begin to get at the amazing work you do on those forums.  You provide an immense amount of help on everything from newbie questions to complex problems, and always graciously.  I thought I'd take this opportunity to express my thanks.

+1 :)

^ Christmas-date is based on the older winter solstice festivals (and the celebration that the days are getting longer).

was Samhain/Halloween/All-Souls-day not related to the equinox? No, that's earlier - seems to be as you say end-of-summer/start-of-winter fest.
Okay, I see from wikipedia, they do say that Samhain might have been considered as the start of the year. Hadn't known that before :)

I vastly prefer Chopin [...]

must try that - wheat, rye, or potato though??
I cant imagine potato being much good tastewise, but that's based on my expierence with poitín before it was legalised - which isnt very fair I guess.

Vodka is good with food I find - saw some programme a few years back about an old russian guy and they were saying that it was traditionally drank with meals - I mean before people started drinking it around the clock :)

I'm suspicious of any drink that requires freezing in order to be palatable (jeez, am I getting snobby now :-\)
I had fond memories of Moskovskaya vodka, got a bottle of it lately - it was good, but didnt pass the drink-it-like-a-whiskey test very well (not chilled, tiny dash of water). Tastes reasonably good, nice marzipany aftertaste, doesnt smell great though. But maybe that's not fair if it's meant to be drank cold... (it is cheap - for the price I'd say it's very good).

I'm particularly annoyed by the new arm-twisting (blackmailing?) going on in software circles where you're now required to "like" a piece of software on Facebook (or Tweet it) before you're allowed to download a lite or evaluation copy.

did it once, and undid the "Like" after - but probably wouldn't bother again

I think it's important to note that their pricing is pretty ludicrous.
Things that would be features in another app are given individual app status here with "full" price to boot.
Certainly a lot of these features can be done by free or donation software.

In fact I wouldnt even advertise this unless I felt there was something worthwhile there (maybe there is?)
6366
you know what's nice?

after a newsletter goes out, there's a lot more activity, and a lot of the threads mentioned in it get new posts.
(mind you, I think everyone's pretty busy this week...)

I'm not sure what you mean with the possibility of selecting text. I don't think I'll allow to select text from the UI, I'd prefer to add commands to paste it and use it in various way. What's your need for that ?

Stepping in and speaking for myself -- it's likely I'd use this type of thing for editing paths -- full paths to files, directories, and URLs.
I havent even started using it for paths yet but can see that it would be a big help there.

sometimes there was text there I wanted to remove, say I search for something & it's not there, I then have to use the back key to delete before I start again. I'm just so used to using keys like Shift+Home or Ctrl+Shift+Arrowkey to select text in order to delete or cut or copy...

try here:
https://www.donation...g/MixTape/index.html
~
next on my list, thanks ;-)

I have been using WMP12 as a player, but it does exactly what Techidave said - indexes so hard it locks the damn machine. When it does that I kill it in Task Manager. The service restarts it but by then the app itself is closed. If it didn't do that it would be great.
~
that was me complaining about the indexing and the hidden instance running after closing - will try it again at some stage & see if that can be turned off...

If I ever get around to ripping my CDs, I'll look at Easy CD-DA Extractor. At the moment, for a couple of mixes I'm not willing to spend much - donate is okay, naturally :-)

Icons are pretty!
 (see attachment in previous post)
...but some are small :)

icons are all large here - but small icons often enlarged - i.e. poor pixelly quality (e.g. FARR as in ewemoa's screenshot)
(just reporting FWIW - I know you're aware of the problem, but I didnt have same results as ewemoa)

After reflexion, I think I'll go with Qatapult, your first proposition tomos, as you like it it's even better.
:)

Looks nice - I finally getting around to trying it :-[

Some start-up problems/requests:
[1] it seems to have a few focus problems - originally when I started it, it didnt have focus at all - I typed, nothing showed, I had to click on it and then it works. I could not escape out of it - these both seem to have resolved themselves through use :) will report again if a problem
[2] would be nice if space+shift worked - I find it easier to type than shift+space (I'm no typist)
[3] would be nice if I could alt+tab away from the app (FWIW, I think FARR closes when I alt+tab away)
[4] would be nice if I could select typed text using Ctrl+Shift+Arrowkeys

Win7 64bit

EDIT/ my focus problems could possibly have been related to trying out alt+tab. Even though it stays on top, it no longer has focus...

ah okay,
then it would be better spelt like one of these:
 • Q-tapult
 • Quetapult
 • Queuetapult
 • Q Tapult

you're getting into weirdly-spelt-name territory there :) - from the point of view of ease of remembering, I wouldn't recommend any of those - but I dont know how important that aspect is to you?

you could also play on the Q-t thing and spell it cuteapult or cuetapult - either of those would work better than the "Q" versions imo

edit/ i dunno though...

do you mean Qatapult ?
I think the Q works fine (with a vowel after it at any rate), it generally (always?) gets pronounced as a hard C or like a K.

btw forgot to say: I like it
