Find And Run Robot / Re: How to automatically restart a windows service?
« Last post by Ath on September 23, 2017, 03:11 AM »
When the service screws up is it because it has stopped
If that's the case, then my NANY 2013 entry KeepUpApp as featured here, could be of interest to you. It won't work if the service isn't responding for any reason though.

Can you please disclose your relation to the product or the makers? This now feels like an advertisement, and can possibly be classified as unwanted/spam.

@chesterw: It would be nice to hear how you made this (start by using the NANY template in your post), any future plans you have with this, and as a developer I'm interested in the technology stuff used as well.

i am having some issue with cc cleaner?
That sounds like that guy that went to the doctor: "Doctor, whenever I drink coffee my right eye hurts"
Dr: "Well, here's a cup, please show me"
Patient: mixes in some milk and sugar, drinks, then cries: "aaauw"
Dr: "Well, it would probably help if you took the spoon out of your cup before drinking..."

A web browser that doesn't suck.
Asking for that, you are destined to be building it yourself :o

I wonder why you would update your browser(s) to the latest versions, but refuse to update the OS to at least a decently updated version :-\

« Last post by Ath on September 10, 2017, 02:13 PM »
If replacing the ink cartridges doesn't solve the issue, follow mousers steps in replacing the entire printer (same model if available/possible so you can re-use the cartidges). That class of (Canon) printers can't be repaired within reasonable cost (less than a new printer) so it should be regarded as total-loss.

Aha, so then my solution using notepad++ in post #18 or skrommel's ahk-script in post #28 should both work for you. No changes needed. Thanks for clearing that up.

Moderators, please move this thread to the 'resolved' section.

Close the dictionary/appmute.exe and you should be able to save from pspad again. Obviously the exe is keeping the file opened so no other application can write to it.
If pspad can't do it, then switch to notepad++, it has beter support for such situations, AFAIK.

Well, next time, please write all three sequential posts in one, now it looks just like you try to cover up what you did, but still everyone can see it...

I remember his column in the old Byte magazine.
His Chaos Manor column in the paper edition of Byte was the first I read whenever I could buy a copy in the local bookstore (a subscription was way too expensive for EU citizens), much like IainB.
Very inspiring, full of humor and always relevant, at that time.
He wil be missed.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Add Border To Image Isn't Adding a Border :o(
« Last post by Ath on September 10, 2017, 03:25 AM »
I'm trying to determine if you make many screenshots without restarting screenshotcaptor and/or your computer. If so it might be a minor glitch in SSC, not releasing a resource when adding that border, resulting in an internal failure (that is not shown to the end-user) and the auto-added border not working as expected any more.

Does many, in this context, mean tens, hundreds or thousands?

Contro, you have been politely asked (more then once) to not write a storm of posts in threads (you started). Please keep your promise to avoid that! This thread again has a near duplicate post within minutes of eachother, that could have been avoided if only you had used the 'modify' link in the right-top of your post. :(
TIA.

How many screenshots did you make like that since the computer was last (re)started? Or since SSC was last (re)started? Wichever was the most recent action.

Windows windows that are not maximized can be dragged/moved to be partially outside the visible part of the desktop, also at the side where the taskbar is. If the taskbar isn't set to auto-hide, then the window wil be behind the taskbar during the move across the taskbar.
Nothing new here, it has worked like that since Windows 95 (1995).

A belated Happy Birthday! Have a nice party.

Just be your normal self, like before. If that turns out to be somewhat grumpy in specific situations, then just let it happen, and return to normal self asap :P
(been there, done that, though it'll take a few years to turn 60 myself)

Please . What is the question exactly i can respond yes or no ?

- What should happen if a line in the file has only 1 period in it. Should that line be removed, or should it remain in the output?

Well, I would have asked for (more) ideas too, but I have a project that I built earlier this year that I intend to publish for NANY 2018, and because of my new job, starting on October 1st, I'm uncertain how my spare time will end up ;)

Maybe I'll pick up a new idea/project from this thread 8) though it's a bit slim for now...

I understand.
Sorry if I cannot do my best.

Well, the only thing we want you to do, in this situation, is to answer the question. Why is that so hard? It's not a difficult question, and only a yes or no answer is enough.

With a 'little' work on WinSendKeys and WinButtons I could probably realize that.

Living Room / Re: Weather notifications
« Last post by Ath on September 02, 2017, 10:07 AM »
The trouble with most weather forecast services is they don't provide the requested detaillevel for an entire day for free, usually only for 2 or 3 hours ahead. And the commercial services that are available are rather expensive, as that's more a b2b proposition, AFAIK.

There are several (smartphone) apps available that give you a warning 30 or 60 minutes ahead, maybe that's usable? I've used one for many years, cycling to work and back on a daily basis. But I don't always manage to arrive without getting wet...
