Mm, so far existing efforts to "petition" MS to actually make the thing don't seem too popular: http://www.petitiono...ourier/petition.html
http://www.petitions...ns/microsoftcourier/

Would a dedicated website make the difference? Who knows. :D

- Oshyan
It certainly can't hurt ... and I signed both of the above - Now that I know about them... ;)

Perhaps the site could be a web ring hub of all the places to sign the various seperate petitions in an attempt to combine them all into one (louder) voice.

Me too! Just signed 'em

Ham - that waterfall and pond are gorgeous (Darwin is green with envy).

Beautiful. Lashiec - thanks for the wallpaper idea!

I'm in... though I don't know how much help I can be. I've no web design skills whatsoever!

Amen to that, brother Renegade, amen to that! I REALLY want a Courier!

Maybe we should start a petition!

What annoys me is that its success has caused Microsoft and HP to shelve their own tablet plans. The Microsoft Courier was, in my opinion, quite a different machine from the iPad and much more in keeping with what I am looking for in the next generation of portable devices.

Cranioscopical is right - 19 years is a good long life and I'm sure she was loved and cared for, and I'm sure she knew it and appreciated it.

Still, the vacuum that losing a pet creates in your life is vast. My deepest condolences on your loss.

But I guess I'm just cheap. :-[ I mean, I can't really see paying for software to tell me my stopwatch was off by a few seconds.

Isn't Bootracer freeware?

I have it installed under Windows 7 64bit with 4GB RAM and it's very stable and you don't even know it's there. Is it making a difference? I can't tell... I really bought a license (for which I received a free upgrade to 4) for either a netbook or my old XP machine with 2GB RAM. However, I don't have access to either at the moment so am playing with it under this setup. Hmm... wonder if it works on VM?

At any rate, I am pretty sure that it's effects are marginal at best on my setup, but I do think it's worth a look if you have older hardware on which you've hit the glass ceiling of RAM upgrade-ability (is that a word?).

I thought it would be easy to find an HP 12c emulator/simulator, but everything I found was either 10 years old and wouldn't run on my Windows 7 system or shareware...

I submit. You're too powerful an exponent of the rationale for me.

Does that mean Darwin and you have reached a zero-sum situation?

Where would the percentage be in that?

I love prawns, but can't see  how you'd collect them? I mean, I like to eat them, so they don't last long. If I stuck them in a fish tank, how long would they live?

I think you're going off on a tangent here. While I've derived a great degree of pleasure from the terms you've used (inversely proportional to their relevance), I wish you'd integrated your remarks with the topic better. Perhaps we should form a group to moderate these posts and regain our focus. Y coordinate, you ask? For consistency.

Touche!

I'd better get this current obsession squared away before I start logging more purchases. At the rate I'm going, I'm going to have to get someone to co-sign a loan for further additions to my collection  I just wish I knew what was at the root of it all. There must have been a sign?

OK enough of this tangent... Tsk, so much hyperbole. I need to simplify my life, not make it more complex.

Where do I start?

Artie Shaw recordings
Beatles albums and bootlegs
Wristwatches
Pocketwatches
Fountain pens
Software

I'm really only actively collecting software these days... I've listed my passions in the order in which I acquired them - the Artie Shaw obsession goes back to when I was 7 or 8 years old, software to my early 20's (and going strong almost 20 years later!).

Recent obsessions addictions interests have been:

electronic calculators
slide rules

No, Edvard got it right. I fell in love with the big desktop calculators with the tape when I had to take a 10-key class (all accounting students were required to do that, back in the 80's). Didn't get one of my own till I contracted a job that required me to have one. (early 90's)

Damn! I completely missed the hyperlink before I wrote my last note  :-[ Sorry, app, I just looked at the screenshot!

General Software Discussion / Re: SubmitToTab - a Firefox add-on
« Last post by Darwin on May 01, 2010, 12:42 PM »
Ah... I did start using Firefox instead of Maxthon a year or two ago and discovered how to setup the equivalent of Maxthon's Groups feature within it (without every having heard of the Morning Coffee plugin). I've since ditched Fx in favour of IE8 and use the Favorites bar for the same purpose. Both IE8 and Fx support setting groups of pages as my start page, but I've long since stopped using the feature.

Haven't looked at Maxthon in at least two years. Loved it when I was running IE6 and XP but no longer see the point under IE8 and Win7 (though I still miss its mouse gestures feature, which was superior to any of the Fx plug-ins I tried). *Might* revisit Maxthon for that alone... or not!

Cloq - I just polished off an 8 cup POT of coffee (and I still feel like I'm trying to view the world with olive oil coating my eyeballs. Hmm... correlated, perhaps?!)  :P

I'm off to take a look at Morning Coffee now...

Heh, heh - Edvard, I think app meant that she likes virtual calculators whereas I *think* you're assuming she meant the old, big desktop printing calculators?

FWIW, this is what I was talking about:

You're a lucky man, Innuendo! I reverted back to IE8 because when researching what was going on with Fx and Win 7 I determined that this is a known issue betwist and between the two... IE8 is a sod, too, though...  >:(

PS part of my troubleshooting included winnowing out all unnecessary add-ons and then turning off all that remained and adding them back in again. Didn't seem to make much difference what add-ones I was running  :(
