OK, That's very vague and I can't reproduce it on my side - I hope I fixed it though (literally guessing) - New download link added to original post.  Just an FYI - you need .NET 4.6.1+ (In case that was the issue...who knows at this point).

could well be a NET issue:
windows update says 4.7.2 was successfully installed, but when I check via this:

reg query "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\NET Framework Setup\NDP"

it only lists up to version 4.0

Let's see if anyone else with Win.7 tests it (any takers?)

Pushed out a minor update on google play store.  You can now set a entry to have no time window and it will just track how many times you do it and never reset.

in the Insert .. phrase fields, I cannot:
# cut or paste using the usual shortcuts
# select all using Ctrl+A (I can use Shift+Hme from end of phrase, so not really bothered by this)

Any chance you could get #1 there working?

What it's doing now is telling you how many time blocks you have done it without missing one.  There is no final "goal", no Z in "1 of Z".

Note all my entries are daily exercises/tasks. (I've set each to 100 days.)
I'm now on day two and see no change when I click the button, it still says [1 streak].
It's not clear to me if this a bug or intentional. If intentional: I thought it would tell me how many times I had done the entry -- this would be much more rewarding imo. It's disappointing to see no change. Is it possible your focus was on doing multiple (shorter) streaks?

btw, I'm confused by your saying there is 'no final goal' -- isn't the whole point of it to do something for a number of days or weeks or whatever? Saying that, I dont think the e.g. 8/20 is necessarily a great idea.
I am unable to get any items to show days or weeks as per your screenshot -- I think ideally I would like to see how many days I have successfully completed an action, e.g. currently it would be [2 days]

I just saved a Notepad file and a WinRAR zip while it was open without any issues. Apparently, this is app related more than anything else. Some of MS's Office suite products have this restriction as well.

Yeah. I can do a 'Save As' in Adobe Acrobat and the rename is no issue. Apparently, the 'Save As' obviously does not have a restriction for renaming an open file in contrast to just renaming the file via right-click.

yes, but note (as Skwire says above) it creates a copy -- if you have downloaded it directly to e.g. Adobe Acrobat, the original is in the Temp folder, your 'save as' will save a copy of that wherever you choose.
This (and/or the Sumatra solution in Skwire's post above) seems to make an app unnecessary (?)

Another display issue (minor)

Relevant Setting:
# Category list style >Auto [tabs go to sidebar in landscape]

The app treats a split screen as being landscape -- this puts the tabs in a sidebar and makes everything else very cramped. Add to that I made landscape font size larger (125%) which cramps everything even more. Could split screen mode be treated as portrait?

Wondering about the text on the buttons:
have to admit I dont understand what is meant by the '1 day' or '1 week' in your screenshot above mouser.

Suggestion:
instead of [1 streak] (which I also find unclear), how about something like [1 of 20] ? with 20 being the length of the streak.
(I guess [1/20] could be used but might also be unclear?)

with the dark theme:
New entry dialogue > Click on 'Day(s)' > I am shown a blank dialogue -- the entries are there, I can select an entry but cannot read them (black text on black?)

Above works correctly with the light theme.

Good question though -- what exactly is IrfanView doing (didnt even know it had that capablity).

If I'm downloading a PDF I will open it directly, rather than save, and then Crtl+Shift+S will allow me to save it with new and/or modified name.
Software tends to remember where you last saved and go directly there, which is mostly convenient. (I use Adobe Reader as PDF viewer.)
Depending on your browser, opening directly can be made the default behaviour (in Pale Moon here, clicking a PDF link will open the Open/Save dialogue with 'Open with' selected by default, I just have to press return).

As I say, a workaround, throwing it out there as it might meet OP requirements.

# if, when editing, I could delete last entry in history - currently can only delete all. Although is that just text that can be manually removed?

As seen in other posts, slowdowns occur if there are too many pics in the screenshots folder (I don't want to move pics to subfolders etc. Besides if choosing 'thumbnail' option I don't want the generation of too many thumbnails anyway), so it would be great to have the option: 'Screenshot Panel only for recent captures'

That's a really interesting idea.. Maybe with an entry at the bottom for "show all".. Very interesting..

A "streak" tracker! That's a very good idea!
I think I could adapt my code to do that pretty easily..

So for each item you could specify how often it has to be done to keep the streak going (daily, weekly, or monthly).
The items would have a NOW button just like WhenLast, and would show you the last time you did an item, but would also tell you how long you have kept the streak going.

idea for (hopefully an android) app -- may or may not be able to use the work you've already done:

There's an idea in Tai Chi / Chi Gung that you do an exercise for 100 days -- really the idea is to get it ingrained as a habit.

Based on this:
an app that shows how many consecutive days I have done exercise 'x' (or task x).
A variation would be exercises (or tasks) that I want to do e.g. three days a week -- so long as that is fulfilled you could report how many consecutive weeks it has successfully been done.

I'm going to stay with wiznote with encrypted notes. Pity because I use a wacom tablet instead of a mouse, and onenote is very good at this kind of pen notes. But everything else is weaker in onenote.
