I agree, a space before and after the comma does not make sense, must be a typo, i will check.

Shouldn't be a problem.  Note you can also set your own custom date format.

632
let me know if it happens again there's no reason it should be happening but if it happens again let's track down what's causing it.

Understood.

It looks like it may have been a simple flaw in the way I was clearing EXIF meta data (affecting jpgs) on new captures.
The fact that SC normally uses PNG format may explain why the bug hasn't been reported until now.

Can you try this quick beta 4.39 version to see if it solves the problem:

Just install on top of existing version.

I'll surely find this info myself when I try testing solutions, but if you can help shed some light it would be useful:

1. I understand you to be saying that after you view an image file with meta data added from a non-SC source (like a camera photo or meta data editor), then NEW screen captures by SC carry over the meta data from the viewed file, instead of getting good new meta data (caption) that they should have from a new capture.

2. Is it also the case that SC does some bad changing of the metadata of other files that you view, modify, and save?  Or is it only ever that NEW captures get the meta data from the last viewed non-SC file?

Thank you for the report -- that sounds like it must have been frustrating to be trying to figure out the cause -- I'm sorry it was SC doing it!
I will fix asap -- I'll try to get out a new version by monday.

(Possibly such messages/notifications are turned off by Windows?)
Can you try to bring up the customize dialog for Notification Area (system tray), and tell it to "Show icon and Notifications" for Screenshot Captor).

Screenshot Captor has options to: 1. play sound on capture; 2. show system tray message saying when a capture is made.

if you click the top little button at the header row of the table of clips you can enable the display of some additional columns, including some for adding tags.  CHS doesn't itself do anything special with these but you can use them for your own purposes.
And create special virtual groups to show you all clips with certain tags, etc.

Screenshot Captor / Re: Default save folder and Auto Move
« Last post by mouser on July 13, 2020, 04:40 PM »
Ok let's see what kind of options or changes would be feasible.

One solution would be to simply divorce the notion of what folder is shown in the main interface and what folder is used for saving new captures.  This would mean that moving around to subfolders would not have any effect on where new captures are saved.
For most people that don't jump around folders, they wouldn't notice any change.
Other people could simply check the option that says to preserver the capture folder setting and not change it when you browse and move to different directories.

Would that be a solution for those of you in this thread?

A separate issue when this setting is engages is what should happen if you are in a different folder and a new capture is made -- should SC simply leave you where you are and not load the new capture? Or should it jump you back to the capture directory and show you the new capture; presumably an option for this would make sense but I'd like to hear what option those of you here think you would be using?

To understand more fully -- you don't use the normal default THUMBNAIL panel on the left -- you use the view mode that shows a list of filenames in that left panel?

I can upload the older portable zip, but I'd be more interested in fixing the problem in the new version!

Can you elaborate a little on what goes wrong? Does the entire size or position of the dock change?
Can you check whether you have the option checked on the main OPTIONS tab labeled "Readjust dock when screen resolution changes"? and whether that makes a difference?

I was wondering if it would be possible to annotate/highlight the contents of individual clips and to tag them.
do you mean adding multiple tags to different areas within one clip, or just adding some tags to the clip as a whole (which CHS will let you do).

UrlSnooper / Re: System error

TengTa, you could try installing win10pcap and urlsnooper should be able to automatically use it -- let us know!  Npcap could also work.

ferretau -- great find with Win10Pcap, I had not seen that -- it may be time for me to make a new installer for urlsnooper that uses win10pcap (or npcap?)
