Living Room / Re: I need easy pdf emailing
« Last post by kartal on January 19, 2009, 07:46 PM »
PhilB66,

I already mentioned that in my first post. If I set it to email then It will email everytime I print a pdf, I do not want that , I  do not want to mess with any of my current settings. I am happy with it as it is. All I want is a a printer driver that prints pdf and open default email client without me dealing with anything. No folder, no save dialog, no profiles, no naming , no clicking ok, no deleting afterwards etc. I am looking for a .5 click solution.

Living Room / I need easy pdf emailing
« Last post by kartal on January 19, 2009, 06:51 PM »
Hi

I am using Pdfcreator for printing pdfs. It works great. My problem is that sometimes I just need to email documents-pages and I do not want to deal with saving, opening the saved folder and attaching the pdf. I can set auto save or auto emailing in Pdf creator but these are totally off solutions. All I need is "email as pdf" printer kind of application that would work with any software that supports printing. Basicaly I do not want to deal with saving and attaching manually.

Does anyone know any software for this purpose?

Stoic Joker, do you think getting one of those free dynamic dns adresses would resollve email filters-rejection issues?

I tried the windows internal one but could not get it working. I am under 64bit xp/

Hi

I am looking for an easy to setup, simple, small footrint smtp server for daily emails. I do not need mass emailing or other more complicated setups.

Yes I have tried this

http://www.softstack.com/freesmtp.html

and please no googling and pasting here. I am as usual looking for an app that is used and tested by DC members. I just do not have alot of time of trying and testing at this point.

thanks

General Software Discussion / Re: List of newbie questions regarding software

It is a calendar, todo, task, note application. It is nowhere near sqlnotes as far as feature set or complexity. It is great for using with a tablet pc, you can write your notes or tasks rather than typing them if you have a tablet pc or digitizer. You can type as well but I use a tablet pc and this does all.

I am trying this at the moment. It is pretty cool and based on go binder, allows stylus input, handwriting etc. The onyl things that bother me are

-Interface is slow
-No real calendar import export
-No Ical support

Hi

It does not do anything under vista? I cannot make it work. Might it be a code copy paste problem?

General Software Discussion / Re: calendar software - free
« Last post by kartal on January 11, 2009, 08:27 PM »
Try calimanjaro. I have been looking for a calendar software for quite sometime. Everything under the sun sucked pretty much in my opinion. I probably installed and checked out over 40 calendar applications(including outlook). They are generally designed in a linear way and they generally act like digital version of a paper calendar. One of the common issues with calendar apps is that they may excel in one thing but suck at the rest of the expected features, or they are abandonware. I found couple nice calendar apps but either they do not support ical-subscription or they have no yearly customizable views etc.

General Software Discussion / Re: General brainstorming for Note-taking software
« Last post by kartal on January 10, 2009, 04:00 PM »
Well this thing does not fit any simple definition but let me give you little insight

1-it can record everything you write as image
2-it can record audio that is linked to what you write word by word, so anytime you tap on any word you wrote, it will play the audio that was recorded at the time of writing that word.
3-it can be used as translator(it has limited demo at the moment) you write the word on the paper , it translates it for you
4-You can use as just audio recorder
5-You can use as calculator by using the "printed " calculator on the paper, you just tap on numbers
6-You can use as a plain pen
the list can be very long actually, it is a computer with java sdk so waiting developers I guess :)

You need to use the dotted paper. The dotted paper can be used for recording or programming the pen, it is like the interface for the pen.

I do not think the notebooks are expensive also they let you print your paper but you need a postscript printer, might endup being more expensive.

Check out the videos they have on their site.

I just bought livescribe Pulse pen for notetaking and recording. I think it is an amazing tool for note taking.

I was using timeless time but I gave up on it because I do not like the export stuff and there is no import feature. On top of it it has not been seriously updated for long time. I really have not seen any new feature for 4 years(only fixes). But it does what it says.

Well I am using the free version. I would upgrade but I am not sure if I would get

-Integrated calendar. Not just simple calendar thou I need to see when things are sent, upcoming invoices etc
-Better Invoice tracker.
-Import and export for time tracking, invoices, expenses

and couple other things that I have mentioned

Hi

I am in need of a good application that can do multiple things about project management and billing.

At the moment I am using

-Taskcoach for time tracking(I was using timeless before but cannot import export things really)
-Quickbooks for invoicing
-Sunbird for calendar
-Wikidpad for keeping info about the project
-and couple other things to track stuff

Now as you see it gets very complicated becasue I need to use so many apps to get things done. What I am looking for(integrated)

-Time tracker
-Invoicing
-Invoice tracking
-Ability to put or attach notes, files to invoices(should not sent to the customer)
-Calendar that can show dates of sent invoices, tracked tasks, hopefully with different viewing settings
-Expense recorder
-Ability to import and export at least .csv based files
-Ical subscription would be nice

What I do not want

-No online apps please

I have not found anything useful so far. Only things that came ever close was Calimanjaro and Gemx and both looks like they are abandonware. Any other suggestions?

I have been looking for a similar software but I have not found anything usefeul, by that I mean something that would work in different conditions. I found that many screen text capture stuff fails. They work in perfect conditions only.

Do you have a rough timeline of ical stuff? I am not a user at the moment but I would be once the planner and ical stuff is in there. I am hoping that any kind of data with date could be shown in planner and send to subscribed calendar.

Well, I personally think that having a calendar app without Ical support does not make sense. If you have ical i can there share my current data with your app right awy without giving up my own workflow.

So yes I would like to see Ical subscription( not just importing). I am hoping that .ics subscription would support offline online read and write.

Btw I tried importing .csv(which is not a prefarable method) into IQ and it did not let me and gave an error ("nothing to import").

Another thing I am missing in IQ is export function. How do you get data out of IQ?

thanks

Yes if IQ has gantt chart that could be related to calendar data, then that should do it.
