« Last post by Curt on January 07, 2008, 11:51 AM »
I am sorry I didn't notice this thread at it's beginning. With the exception of Theophilus I have used all of the programs so far mentioned, and a lot of others, and it is my firm exprience that when it comes to comparative study there really is but one program: Libronix ~ Logos. No one else comes even close - they are all fine, but Logos is The Reference. And quite an expensive reference, that is.

But you didn't talk about studying "Christendom", but "religions", and this can be a problem, because I expect you will find that any books on other religions are hard to find or to trust.

Edit: create your very own books for Libronix:

The folks who make JRMedia Center have released a free version of the software (with a more limited feature set). http://www.mediajukebox.com

This is good news! I will for sure check it out.

I have dumped most of my media players, mplayer, MPC, VLC and KMP, because of the new Winamp 5.5 Pro. This is The Best I have had so far! I really like it in general, but I am extra pleased that I can tell it to also play the videos without showing their movie (sound only). Nice feature when you are working!

General Software Discussion / How to remove ALL of Firefox?
« Last post by Curt on January 06, 2008, 06:48 PM »
My Firefox 2.0.0.11 was showing signs of being a little sick, so I removed it and installed a fresh copy. But it was excatly the same - meaning it doesn't clean up when leaving. The thing that annoys me the most is that I wasn't asked if I wanted to keep this or that - it just "uninstalled" and left everything behind! I am truly disappointed!! So my question is of course: HOW to clean up after this fox - how to remove ALL of Firefox?  :tellme:

Welcome at DC, stardustn!

Maybe you didn't notice it at the installation, but most likely you also installed the StarPort Drives trial. Try to remove the hole package and reinstall, but this time make sure not to accept StarPort.

Please report back.

What kind of tagging system would be appropriate for DC?

None, of course. Why do you keep on trying to force your weird idea upon the forum?

I believe the problem with the drivers happened because 'he' installed the StarPort Drives trial. I didn't and have not seen any problems of the kind.

However, I am not able to exit the program without getting error messages ("memory cannot read"+"runtime error 216")).

Edit: Maybe one is not supposed to hit the red exit button (the one in the program's GUI), but to merely minimize the program, and then right-click the systray icon - but I am getting the error messages all the same.

...about the dog poo,

No 23 it did not hijack your browser. (non-consensual) It asked at the end of install DO YOU WANT TO MAKE BROWSER HOMEPAGE our site.
Did you not see it? I did and made sure it was not checked. Now my homepage has not changed. Great program for me. It is quite fast at the things I have tried so far. Enjoy and thanks. Simple install.

... within Cfont Pro.

It will be slick when completed.

@ Veign. Will it be posible for this next Cfont to have option for auto-displaying some more characters in the big window? I mean characters that I type myself, besides A-Z ~ I would like it to remember such setting. Being a Dane I want to see at once if a font can show æøåÆØÅ or not, and how any æ is looking compared to a, a, so I would like to be able to alter the order like this:

[ Invalid Attachment ][ Invalid Attachment ][ Invalid Attachment ]

Cyber Bandwidth Monitor tracks traffic of all network connections and displays real-time download and upload speeds in graphical and numerical forms.
The software logs traffic of all network connections and provides daily, weekly and monthly traffic reports.

Cyber Bandwidth Monitor can also display download and upload speeds of multiple network connections on a computer at a time.

Key Features:

Monitor the disk space usage of local and server volumes.
Classifies network traffic by IP address, protocol and other parameters.
Works with most switches, routers, firewalls, and other network devices.
Find out how busy your processor really is.
Graphs the performance of reads and writes to all your local hard disks.

How would you want them handled?

Wow!

My problem (on this matter) is that I have downloaded a lot of fonts packed in zip containers (EDIT: one or a few in each container), but some / far too many also have readme and other prank inside the container, so it all gets tiresome to unzip / seperate / move to > install / whatmorecanIthinkof.

What can be done?

Do "you" know of any font manager capable of extracting fonts from zip containers?
- I have a lot of fonts I haven't bother to install  because they are zipped.

Mini-Reviews by Members / Re: Startup Delayer
« Last post by Curt on January 04, 2008, 09:41 AM »
So what's the consensus on this one.. is this REALLY useful? And why?
I love it, it's great to delay the start of the programs in your startup folders. Every pro DC user probably has more than a dozen there, Startup Delayer is perfect to delay the startup of the non-vital entries, so you are able to use Windows faster after you start it up.
Guess that answers the question :). Thanks

Anothor helpful feature is if you are testing programs and over and over want to either add or remove them from start - then Startup Delayer will prove itself a fast and easy to use manager;   just one click:

Donation Coder’s New Apps for the New Year

Posted: 03 Jan 2008 05:39 PM CST

Donation Coder is working some of their programmers to the bone lately with all of the apps that are being developed! Just a month ago they released a dozen or so free programs, and this time around there are 16 new ones. Here are a few of them that really peaked my interest:

    * WTF Music Info - This creates a chart of your music based upon genre, artist, or year. It really gives a cool perspective on the music you listen to.
      1_music-info.jpg

    * Point Motivator - At first when I saw this program I was kinda like, huh? It’s a reward system that you setup where you get points for completing tasks. Then you can “cash in” your points for rewards that you’ve created for yourself.

It’s not something that I would really use, but this would be great for anyone who has kids. You can assign points to things like ice cream or video games which they have to earn by completing tasks.

You can also use this to help lose weight. For example, you can say that for every 30 minutes of exercise is equal to enough points for one cookie.
      2_point-motivator.jpg

    * Coin Jar - This is completely web based, and it is used to estimate how much money you have in a coin jar. The estimate is calculated according to the weight of the jar and the fraction of coins collected in one handful. Just make sure you don’t grab a handful of quarters when most of the jar is pennies, otherwise it will throw off the estimates.
      3_coin-jar.jpg

Don’t forget to checkout out the rest of the New Apps for the New Year from Donation Coder. If you use Find and Run Robot (another Donation Coder creation) there are several plugins that were created by users for this challenge, including Del.icio.us integration and iTunes control.

This is a terrifically good idea..  I've been wanting to beef up support for a tag-like system on DC and we could use the same system to allow posts to be tagged as NSFW and then let users opt out of seeing such posts.
This discussion may actually end up getting people posting more NSFW material... LMAO!

I am not "LMAO", but I truly expect nosh's prediction to be accurate:
If you set up a special NSFW part of DC, we WILL get loads and loads of it.
So DON'T!!
