NOW you come up with the idea as I've started to learn how to not click POST during a heavy drinking session...

Wha? We're supposed to be sober when we post?  :o
I thought that was the point of the net, all the fun of chatting with friends and none of the evil DUI arrests!  ;D

Ooops! Guess I put out the wrong impression there! Need to correct that, but let me go grab a beer first...

Just in case you thought I was joking...

resized_IMAG0248_816x488.jpg

Hell no! Drinking makes the Internet MUCH better. And most other things in life as well! :P

I'm pretty good up to about a half bottle of vodka, then I start to get, well, y'know... unpredictable. I might rant like a fool or who knows? (Unpredictable in the happy happy sense that is, and not in the belligerent sense.)

Of course, I get my twisted sense of humour going, and good Lord... At the bottom of a bottle of whiskey, I know darn well that whatever I have to say can wait!

So, yeah! Drinking is great while surfing. You just need to know your limit. Kind of like driving. ;) But you get to drink a lot more and still post! :P

Another thing that helps, is being able to figure out that the last sentence you typed took 5 minutes. And it was only 10 words

My Monitor Audios are blasting at atleast 40%, but I suspect my neighbors can still hear my laughter!!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I've started to learn how to not click POST during a heavy drinking session
  :o :o :o

BTW, you need to enlighten us how you've achieved this extreme level of zen. People who don't drink will NOT understand. :D

Hahahaha~! ;D

While it sounds funny, it's very true! :D

Part of it comes from having made a complete and total ass of yourself, with all the guilt, remorse, and embarrassment that goes along with that. Several times. At least.

For those that don't drink, if they monkey up once, they'll still never be able to get to that point of being shitfaced and knowing to not click POST. It takes practice! Lots of it! Like, cases and cases of beer, vodka, whiskey... It's a serious financial investment! ;D

Another thing that helps, is being able to figure out that the last sentence you typed took 5 minutes. And it was only 10 words. That you retyped several times each because you're so blasted that you can barely type. And when you can become aware of that, then it's only a slight, tiny step more to becoming aware of the high probability that clicking POST will make you look like a total fool. :D

I would encourage people to break out a bottle of your favourite liquor, some ice, mixer, and your favourite heavy bottom high-ball glass (because when you really drink, those tiny whiskey glasses are for pussies!), and try it out! Get into some forum with highly controversial topics, or lots of trolls. Probably make a new account though... See if you can make the account sober first and write it down, as you might not remember later. Then, see if you've made an idiot of yourself. If you did, well, forget that account and try, try again! ;D

But seriously - it would be a very cool mod for those of us that know that drinking & posting is a BAD idea AND would actually use it! :P

Thankfully, I don't think I've had any embarrassing drunken posts recently. :)

Yeah... If anyone wants to say that I'm paranoid or a conspiracy nut or wearing a tinfoil hat... Guilty. The evidence is there. One only has to open one's eyes and look at the evidence to see the truth.

One big problem with conspiracy theories is that they can be used to explain anything. :-\

The term "conspiracy theory" is simply too loaded. It's used to discredit people as kooks. We could walk through countless "conspiracy theories" that really are true with truckloads of evidence.

From all the "conspiracy theories" that I've looked into, the vast majority are "conspiracy history" or "conspiracy facts". There's simply far too much evidence, and TONNES (that's metric) of smoking gun evidence.

e.g. The Gulf of Tonkin false flag was used to suck the US into war in Vietnam, and that's been admitted.

The thing about these "conspiracies" is that you need to recognize them BEFORE they are completed. That requires connecting the dots, which is where things get tough. You need to use a degree of intelligence there.

Now, if we want to talk about extra dimensional or reptilian beings, well, that stuff is pretty darn tough. However, there is hard physical science that proves that these things are not out of the realm of possibility. Sure, people may laugh at David Icke, but  he's still lots of good things to say, even if you don't agree with everything he says.

At the end of the day, we can simply take things as we are able to deal with them. However, that doesn't remove any responsibility to try to deal with some things. e.g. It's irresponsible to think that allowing our governments to restrict free speech is ok. It's not ok.

So while some things may sound utterly insane... well... go figure. That's why people conspire in secret! Because nobody would accept these things if they were presented up front.

That leaves us in the dark and having to connect the dots. They're out there. We only need to look and use our brains.

(I posted those in another thread, but they're also relevant here.)

Kill babies? Sterilize children? Huh?!? WTF?!?

These people aren't trying to protect anything for us. They are trying to take away our freedom. They are trying to enslave us.

But for the right to life...

Ethicists Argue Killing Newborn Babies Should Be Allowed

Australian Bill Allows for Sterilizations Without Parental Consent at Any Age

Oh, hey... Let's kill babies and sterilize children! WOW! What a good idea!  :'(

Hello? McFly?

These people are insane!

I have a vested interest in copyright and IP. I make my living on it. But when it comes to copyright laws... we already have enough. No more are needed. We don't need to flush our freedom of speech down the toilet to protect copyright. We all know where that is headed. Because everytime we let governments take away one freedom, they line up to take another.

262,000,000 people were murdered by their governments in the 20th century. That's 10% of the world population in 1950.

We have every reason in the world to be very afraid of what will happen if we let them take away any freedom.

Copyright isn't that important.

Not too long ago people predicting the Feds were inside were called "Tin Foil Hatters". But the scary part is that for every "Tin Foil Hat" theory, half of them ARE true!

There's an old saying attributed to the Russians and the Irish. I'll give the Russian version:
(see attachment in previous post)This must go no further than your ears...

Any time four men meet in a cellar to plot to overthrow the Czar, three are fools - and the fourth is Oprichina.*

(*Secret Police)
 ;D

Tinfoil hats... Sigh...

Regarding that quote there... In the 20th century, GOVERNMENTS were directly responsible for the MURDER of 262,000,000 (two hundred and sixty-two MILLION) people.

262 million people.

China murdered around 80 million.

The Soviet Union murdered around 50 to 60 million people.

That does not include tribal clashes or military casualties. Those 262 million people were murdered by their own governments!

If you don't have a tinfoil hat on, you're nuts. The evidence is overwhelmingly in favour of being paranoid. Because they ARE out to get you!

Check here:

http://www.npg.org/f...s/world_pop_year.htm

In 1950, the world population was 2.6 billion people. Governments killed 10% of that number of people in the 20th century.

10%.

Ten percent.

We have every reason in the world to believe that it will continue, as we have recently seen, and that we need to be on guard against our own governments. They are doing what tyrants do before they begin the executions - silence the people. Take away free speech.

None of this is debatable. None of this is "theory".

All of this is directly provable in the cold, hard facts.

Yeah... If anyone wants to say that I'm paranoid or a conspiracy nut or wearing a tinfoil hat... Guilty. The evidence is there. One only has to open one's eyes and look at the evidence to see the truth.

Dear Mr. Smyth,

Thank you for your recent correspondence regarding Bill C-11. I apologize for the delay in response. I am always happy to respond to the questions and concerns of my constituents.

For your information, this bill has been debated at reading for a total of 20 hours and 15 minutes as of February 6th, 2012, and a total of 74 speeches have been made on this bill by all parties.

It is currently being studied by a special committee, whose members are: Conservative Members of Parliament Scott Armstrong, Peter Braid, Paul Calandra, Dean Del Mastro, Mike Lake, Phil McColeman, and Rob Moore; NDP MPs Charlie Angus, Tyrone Benskin, Andrew Cash, and Pierre Nantel; and Liberal MP Geoff Regan.

Please be assured that I have forwarded your concerns to the Hon. Christian Paradis, Minister of Industry, for his consideration, as this issue is within his purview.

I appreciate you taking the time to write regarding this issue, and I will certainly take into account the opinions of my constituents before voting on this bill.

If you have any further questions please contact my office.

Yours sincerely,

Hon. Gary Goodyear, P.C., M.P.
Cambridge-North Dumfries

This assault on free speech is worldwide. No... not an assault... A blitzkrieg. There are so many attacks in such a short period. The coincidence is uncanny. This is an orchestrated, international offensive against free speech. It is nothing short of pre-emptive war against the citizens of the world. C-11 is merely war against Canadians.

Yet again, it bears repeating:

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
-Benjamin Franklin

And regarding the fiends behind the scenes that pull the strings, Thomas Jefferson had some good things to say:

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered... I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies... The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.
-Thomas Jefferson

And for all those censors and tyrants out there, and to those that support C-11, for them, the Trudeau Salute:

« Last post by Renegade on March 07, 2012, 10:15 PM »
Well, this shouldn't be much of a surprise for some, but it is deeply disappointing...

Seems Sabu of Anonymous and LULZ has been working for the FBI... :(

http://www.resistrad...s-goverment-black-op

Five key members of the hacker group LulzSec have today been arrested, with the revelation that the alleged leader of the group has been working for the FBI since mid-2011.

Hector Xavier Monsegur, a 28-year-old Puerto Rican living in New York and known by his nickname "Sabu", was reportedly charged with 12 criminal counts of conspiracy to engage in computer hacking and, according to documents unsealed in a Manhattan court on Tuesday, subsequently pleaded guilty to attacks on the websites of PayPal and Mastercard. According to The Guardian, charges were filed via a "criminal information" form, meaning that it is likely Monsegur has been cooperating with the government whilst maintaining the pretence of operating as an underground hacker. Following today's arrests, which included two British and two Irish hackers, it appears Monsegur may have betrayed them by turning them over to the FBI, presumably to secure a reduction in his sentence.

...

This could create a classic "problem-reaction-solution" situation, where the public reacts to the seemingly chaotic and threateningly anonymous hacking groups by accepting a government solution they may previously have resisted - stricter regulation of the internet. It would be grimly ironic if groups proclaiming to fight for internet freedoms were in reality being used as a tool - infiltrated and steered by the very intelligence agencies they have apparently attacked - to kill those very freedoms.

More:

http://www.activistp...ileaks-released.html

Following yesterday's revelation that a key figure in the hacker collective LulzSec had actually been working for the FBI since mid-2011, the release of alleged informant Hector Xavier Monsegur's court documents reveal that the FBI had even provided him with a server, onto which data was transferred by the hackers.

The 71 pages of the prosecution's indictment make multiple references to a New York server provided to Monsegur by the FBI, which he made available to other alleged LulzSec/Anonymous hackers for the transference of hacked data -- specifically, email data hacked from the private intelligence analysis firm Stratfor. It is this data which the whistleblower organization WikiLeaks has recently started publishing.

Thesis - Anti-thesis - Synthesis (problem - reaction - solution)

Sheesh...

It's deeply saddening to see, but at least it's out in the open now. I only hope that this kind of information gets to the broader masses of sheeple and that they wake up.

Coincidentally, this interesting post from The Centre for the Study of Innovative Freedom:
Copyright is Unconstitutional: Update

Looks interesting. I'm short on time, so I'll give it due attention either on the plane or next week.

As a former tabletop gamer, I keep wanting to come up with an anti-copyright method ruthlessly abusing the "letter"  of the corrupt laws and hopefully an equally ticked off judge will approve it.

Something like "If a creative work is copyrighted the moment it comes into being in fixed form, then my web surfing history exists as my click before it becomes your tracking cookie, so therefore you owe me royalties of $150,000 per tracking cookie that you set."

Same idea, "My name was assigned by my parent at birth, so they're the copyright holders, (and gave it to me), so you can't sell my personal info either."

Hehehehe~! ;D

LOVE IT~! :D

And... I just had a very sinister idea... Muahahahhhahaha~!

Alter the HTTP headers in your browser to include a "terms and conditions" so that whenever you visit a page, not only are you bound by their terms and conditions, but they are also bound by YOUR terms and conditions.

Yeah... Stick that in yer lawyers wahoo! :P

Still in Seoul, which means... not totally sober...

But this is a VERY interesting topic for me. I will be looking into it and doing some thinking on it.

My gut reaction is BS. I cannot off the top of my not-so-sober head think of any sort of reason that uncompressed audio would have any sort of issue, perhaps other than size.

Analog to digital, then digital to analog... Seems like the speaker quality plays an important role there...

I need to check this stuff out though. It sounds very interesting!

General Software Discussion / Re: Can anyone be a Hacker!
« Last post by Renegade on March 06, 2012, 12:16 PM »
I'd like to just throw a tiny bit of my own perspective on this with an analogy... And some confusion just for fun! ;D

A while back I needed a piece of software. I "cracked" it, then bought a license. I really just "cracked" it to see if I could do it. I had every "intention" of paying the author from the start.

So did I "hack" or did I "crack"?

The question is very much a real one, and the answer is entirely dependent on how you view "intention". The difference between "hacking" and "cracking" is very much one of "intent".

Then there is the "legality" issue... I don't subscribe to that, and don't believe that "legality" really has much meaning with respect to "intent" as it pertains to "hacking" or "cracking".

There are other opinions out there about things, and I'm likely in the minority as most people believe in "law" more than "ethics" and "morality".

Anyways... Just my own take on things and perhaps a different way of looking at things.

Peace! :)

General Software Discussion / Now YOU Can Be the Spyware! =D
« Last post by Renegade on March 03, 2012, 10:08 PM »

Woohoo!

Now instead of having spyware on your computer, you can actually BE the spy with help from some mobile software for iOS and Android!

New smartphone app ushers in the digital age of citizen spying

The West Virginia Department of Homeland Security released an app for mobile phones they have called the “Suspicious Activity Reporting” application.

This application will allow for citizens to report “suspicious persons” more easily than ever before, ushering in the digital age of citizen spying, a thought which would make Stalin and those like him drool with envy.

More here.

Today Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin joined by West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management Director Jimmy Gianato and West Virginia Intelligence Fusion Center Director Thom Kirk together announced a new mobile app, that enables West Virginians to submit tips concerning suspicious criminal and terrorist activity, is now available for smartphones.

“Through the use of innovative technology our citizens can download the new Suspicious Activity Reporting Application for free and help protect their own communities,” Gov. Tomblin said. “With the assistance of our citizens, important information can quickly get into the hands of our law enforcement community allowing them to provide better protection. This is just another example of my administration’s commitment to helping keep our streets and citizens safer.”

Developed by West Virginia Interactive as a project of the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management and the West Virginia Intelligence Fusion Center, the app sends submitted information, including photos and texts, to the Fusion Center where the information can help authorities react to and prevent incidents from occurring. The previous methods of submitting suspicious or criminal activity by using the Fusion Center’s website or by calling them directly has now been enhanced by the implementation of this application.

“The longer you wait the less accurate eyewitness information becomes and evidence fades,” said Thom Kirk, Director of the Fusion Center. “Enabling the information to be sent at the time the activity is taking place will not only improve the accuracy of the report, but also improve the ability of the authorities to respond quickly.”

The free application is available for download from the iTunes App Store or Android Market and gives citizens the ability to:

* Capture a photo from the app or use one that already exists on the device
* Automatically find and use their location or enter an address
* Report detailed subject and vehicle descriptions
* Remain anonymous if preferred, or include contact information

“We’re excited about getting citizens involved in protecting their communities,” said WVDHSEM Director Jimmy Gianato. “We’re currently looking at our other services to see what else makes sense to move to the mobile platform.”

And it's FREE~! ;D

So you can take pictures of your terrorist neighbours and have them thrown in some black prison with no trial and no charges even filed!

It just doesn't get any better than this!

Like just imagine... Who would have thought 10 years ago that you could download some FREE software that would let you throw people you hate in prison?!? FOR FREE~! ;D

Man... The cool stuff you can do with software today! Just imagine what you'll be able to do tomorrow! Well... Provided that your neighbour doesn't download the software first... ;)

...that makes me wonder if that Internet censorship is not just a single narrow aspect of a much larger overall strategy of state censorship in the US, driven presumably by commercial interests rather than by genuine state security interests.

BINGO~!

I would say:

Internet censorship is [strike]not[/strike] just a single narrow aspect of a much larger overall strategy of state censorship in the US, driven [strike]presumably[/strike] by commercial interests rather than by genuine state security interests.

Or rather, I'd borrow from you, as the case were. :)

No comment on the actual article there as I'm sure people can simply imagine me devolving into a frothing at the mouth, excessively loud, profane, obscene, writhing on the floor mess of disturbing rants better left to the most extreme horror films...

Actually, on second thought, I'd like to add to my blatant rip-off from you...

There is another agenda there.

Making nutritious food "illegal"? Claiming that "pizza is a vegetable"? Stealing a decent lunch from a child at school then forcing them to eat "nutritious" chicken nuggets?

No. This is a murderous agenda. It's called forced malnutrition. It doesn't end well...

The same thing goes for Internet censorship -- it's an attempt to starve people's minds. Likewise, it will not end well.

If we're really about rehabilitation, and getting people out of the system, the effect on the children should be considered.  Should these people not be punished?  No.  But is jail an effective punishment or deterrent in cases like these?  Studies have proven otherwise....

As far as the drug possession and sale charges go, reaction is mixed. Almost everybody I talked to thought 12 years was very harsh, but that automatically suspending it after 5 actual years served was reasonable. I still think it's a little heavy. But I'm dubious about the value and effectiveness of incarcerating people for long periods of time unless they've committed an act of extreme violence and we're concerned they'll do it again if released. But that's just me.

But, but, prisons rehabilitate people, and they come out happy, well-adjusted, and ready to contribute to society! ;)
