That's the one I was looking for.  Vector has some of the coolest graphics for a TD game.

The kits, as a kid, were so much fun.  I remember making my own logic probe, which I thought was so cool

Here's a game that taught me about logic gates when I was a kid:
http://www.warrenrob...ett.com/rockysboots/

Funny thing is when I was a kid I wrote an application, for the Apple IIc, to do various  calculations like ohms law, power law, and some AC formulas.  Who would have thought that I would come full circle and end up programming.  That was my first and last application I ever wrote until I started programming some years back.

Just missed the boat with me.  I just gave away most of my EE books from college.  I kept a few but felt I would never go back to an EE job again so keeping 10's of books that weighed a ton made no sense.

Maybe start here:

Then here:

(looking through quickly seems like a good source and brings back a lot of memories)

Checking it out now but this is the one I am currently playing in my free time:

(I like the Classic level since I like to try and perfect my games so I tend to play the same games over and over)

Just updated PAD Database with 15,000 more pad files added and also started to expose my Blacklist.  Blacklisted PAD files will now be identified as such.

Good place to have your software listed as the PAD Database is picked up by software sites.

Comments and suggestions welcomed.

I recently found HateML.
It's pretty cool. it does PHP Automatic syntax checker, debugger and profiler.
It highlighted CSS in a different background color, and other little nice touches.

It even has a MySQL Manager plugin, and it's absolutely free. Give it a try and let me know what you think...

I forgot: it's portable!

Interesting.  Even though I use PHPEdit I'm going to check this out.

I thought about the Favorites but I have so many Favs that I either just start typing a URL (from memory) or run a Google search.

This is a problem that I can't figure out how to remedy - the more bookmarks I have the less I use them, even though mine are very well organized.

IDEA: Search URL history in Firefox (and IE too I guess).

I find myself doing so much from inside a browser that the ability to fire up FARR and get a list of matching URLs that when exceuted will start Firefox and load the requested URL would be a great help.

Thoughts?

What he wants, I gather, isn't some client-based fancy-gfx engine, but some online mostly text-based game. Ie., a PHP or whatever job with some database diddley-doo. Can still take quite some time to develop, though...

Takes me back to the days of playing many, many hours of Zork

Is there any free screen recording app where I can record a video of what I do in a flash format? I want to show you how it behaves. It is really cool.

Might want to check out the demo of Camtasia (http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia.asp) - might be able to produce something with the 30-day trial.

What a mess this application's past is.  If you followed the application from its first very popular releases until now you will see how many times users were left hanging.  It had such promise but the developers basically let the application and the name just die.

If you use the application just understand that there is NO support.  If you can deal with that then give it a try.

Like the saying goes "you get what you pay for"  I would be very weary of someone selling game development under 10K.  Again, this is all being said not knowing the details of the game.  A tower of defense game under 10K? Sure, no problem.  A role playing game? I would think not.

In fact there was a game development crew selling their service to create any game you wanted within 6 months or 3 months, or something like that, with the only guarantee of bringing the game to beta for 250K.

My .02:
Creating a game is
I see...
Well i could pay someone to do it. So if anyone is intrested in taking it as a paid job ot make be the code then send me a e-mail to [email protected] and tell me what you can make and to what price. And the thing about joining a team. I Already got a full idea in my head, i just dont know enough about coding to make it happen.
To be honest creating a game could be quite an expensive thing.  It could cost anywhere from 10K to well over 100K.  When you get into a complicated type of game it just takes time, lots of time.

Your best bet is to locate a game engine and learn the engine and programming language.  Then you can build it without the expense - just your time.

Some engines:

(just need to review as to whether they support an online environment)

PAD History is not maintained as I think it would be a bit too much to keep such a history.

Web Services is something that is an option and something I can look into as I have never done a web service from PHP before so doing it would be a good learning experience for me.

Announce Your Software/Service/Product / PAD Database
« Last post by Veign on June 13, 2007, 09:20 PM »
I thought I would let everyone know of the PAD Database that I maintain.  The PAD Database is one of the largest, and most importantly clean, database's of PAD files.  PAD files are basically very small XML files that fully describe an application or software.  What this allows is developers to easily update information on their software and have that information propagate around the various software websites.  The PAD Database allows developers to submit their PAD files and software / shareware websites to get a copy of the complete database.

Right now I am listing over 48K PAD files and have written a fill suite of custom tools to maintain the database: from crawling to cleanup work (blacklisting, invalid PADs, unreachable files).  The database is well maintained.

So, developers make sure you are listed in the database and everyone else if you would like to see something added just drop me a line.

Another suggestion is to fix the URL

This is its current page:
https://www.donationcoder.com/Links

I remembered that and typed this in:
https://www.donationcoder.com/links/

Which came up 404 (Linux server I assume).  Its more natural to type all in lower case URLs so you may want to make sure the lowercase version of the URL works too.
