If you tell Clipboard H+S to ignore your browser (where you are pasting all kinds of passwords and user names) it then ignores everything you copy or paste into your browser beyond user names and passwords - this is not a solution.If you're replying to my suggestion, you tell CHS to ignore eveything coming from KeePass. It still copies everything you clip from your browser. PixBuilder Studio - Free photo editing software - WnSoftI haven't tried their products, but their flagship is the well-respected PicturesToExe slideshow program, so I'd expect Pixbuilder Studio to be as good as any freeware.-AbteriX (September 18, 2013, 12:58 PM)
I for one use FAR Manager 3, i'm probably too used to the console "feel" (i've used Volcov Commander and Norton Commander back in the days).Total Commander is as close as you'll get to a console feel in a GUI program

If you like console mode, there's also the excellent XTree-like ZTreeWinSince version 3 FAR Manager it is freeware (actually opensource so you can even modify it if you want to), it has a new LUA scripting support and quite a few good plugins/scripts.I didn't know it had gone freeware. But, isn't it a slightly strange hybrid? I was under the impression that though console mode, it kept its configuration details in the Registry. That also means it isn't portable.

for straight knowledge capture and retention I think you have to go a long way to beat Cintanotes.That's why I used to/still do like the earlier Evernote desktop application. All I'd really like is a standalone and portable bookmark manager that just saves the site names and URLs (with an optional notes field) in a tree list - and invokes your default browser when you click on one. vbBKM and pyBKM
BKM consists of two projects: vbBKM and pyBKM. vbBKM is a program developed in Visual Basic which works on the Microsoft Windows platform. pyBKM is a tool developed in Python running on multiple platforms.
vbBKM is a stable product and has as many features as any other bookmark management software available. But pyBKM is at very early stages and is not ready for production use, yet. See the two project pages (vbBKM and pyBKM) for details.
photoshop is probably overkill (not to mention that I probably couldn't afford a copyPhotoshop Elements? Though for your suggested uses, even that might be overkill. If you get to see NPhoto magazine (independent Nikon magazine), their Issue 23, Aug. 2013, has a round-up of Photoshop CC, Elements 11, Lightroom 5, Nikon Capture NX2, DxO Optics Pro 8, Phase One CaptureOne Pro 7, Serif Photoplus X6, and Paintshop Pro X5, not all of which seem strictly comparable. There's also Google's freeware Picasa, though some people don't like the way it tries to own all your photos, and by the looks of things, recent versions try hard to shepherd you into Google+ sharing.-Target (September 16, 2013, 07:38 PM)

My favourite FDM feature is the ability to create a description file for the download. I find this especially useful for software downloads.
The description file will contain the download URL, the date of the download and the description entered; if no description is given, the description file will not be created. The name of the description file is of the form: [filename].[ext].dsc.txt and therefore would be found adjacent to the actual download in an alphabetical folder listing.
A fictional description example:
Acme Widget 2.34
Small, fast widget manager. Monitor system for new widgets, manage or remove existing widgets.
Windows 2000 and above.
Requires Widget Platform 1.01
The program name and version helps when the file name doesn't change between versions, which is the usual case.
A short blurb can usually be copied from the first paragraph on the "About" web page for the program. It should contain enough keywords to successfully search for later. When I was trying duplicate file finders, I downloaded a dozen installers, many with names like SetupDD.exe and dd.zip, whiich give little indication of their purpose or product name.

far and away my favorite is File Locator Pro.I've had good service from BareGrepPro, but it is after all primarily a grep, and often I want Boolean searches. I think the problem (from my POV) is twofold. (1) WordStar works completely differently from just about all Windows editors I've seen with many operations needing two-key commands like Ctrl+K,B, and marked blocks being persistent: and (2) Microsoft stole important WordStar keys like Ctrl+X etc. for its own purposes, rendering them hard to recover for WordStar users. Changing from one system to the other requires a radical change of personality. I doubt you have many "pure text" users who aren't coders, so it may not be worth pursuing. Is it possible for users to do their own keymapping? And is such a feature available in the free version?I'd like to know how much WordStar emulation the current version of Zeus has.I'll be honest; the emulation modes in Zeus rely heavily on user feedback.-Jussi Jumppanen (September 03, 2013, 08:12 PM)
