The resulting URL should ideally be launched in a new tab on the source browser window, or a new window.

Using Chrome.

Hi John, sure thing! Give me a day or two to complete this "Drop Launcher" project

Nice work!

Thank you for your feedback! (Quite glad ir works for you & you like it).

Ok, so tried out this version and it will randomly stop hiding the taskbar. See video here.
It works fantastic while it does work though. Better than anything else I've tried.

Thanks for the kind words & actually providing a video!!!

I'm getting freed from work in some days yet chances are a new version comes out soon as I have a very straightforward modification to the code for publishing.

Thanks @ all for participating! It *is* rather valuable since in time you realize interaction is the most precious gift you can make to a person in life  :-*.

Cheers!

While thinking about this, I realized this is something Twitter does already:

Nice observation! :)  I actually like the background highlighting pretty much (chances are it gets added as an option into v0.2+ )

Useful to see how others tackle the problem.

Indeed!

I'm trying to get this baby released yet "regular work" always takes me from the truly important things in life... life enjoying community coding :-*

Given things stay consistent, I'm freed & back to online coding on Thursday.

BTW I still aim at making a living helping others thrive, so let's not discard "traditional work" ends in 2021 for me    I'm doing my share of community coding toward Patreon as well as other activities so I  can again focus on my original project of becoming a community coder & online creator.  Knock on wood. May 2021 be the year of the transition!!!

Cheers!

I'm using rainmeter as a taskbar replacement

Does it have the same height as the standard one?

With auto-hide activated, Windows taskbar is nowhere to be seen (completely gone).

Without auto-hide, the program keeps the height of Windows taskbar blank.

Hi! I began uploading working code to GH :)

While I don't have access to any W10 machine right now, I can post what works (confirmed) on W7 for you to try on W10...

I'd like to use the windows key to call the start menu.

Thanks for the clarification :) GUI is straightforward:

I'm pinging with first public version as soon as it's uploaded (likely in the morning).

will that disable the start menu as well (that I'd access using the windows key)?

Do you want the program to disable the Windows key entirely for the login/session as well? (or is it via Hotkey?)

Thanks for being specific! (Currently doing the GUI)

Cheers!

I'm pushing the code online within the day. Coding a v0.1.0 that's usable

:) Always happy to assist!

It can be done, yes.

Code works on W7, what's your windows version?

Excuse my previous post. I want to add something I didn't notice. CloseFence stops working when the window is maximized. If no windows are maximized, CloseFence does what it's supposed to.

Do you want to COMPLETELY HIDE Windows' taskbar for your whole login session?

(There's an oldie code for hiding it from some years ago... may still be relevant for your use-case. Please confirm what you need :))

Cheers!

I don't need the default taskbar to be disabled, simply for it to not respond to mouse activation.

Hello @SyRaza, is it viable to have the taskbar active with auto-hide + a Global hotkey for disabling/enabling the mouse in the area?

If something like this suffices, that's doable

Okay! Just updated them for left-handed pressing: (See Manform.cs line)

- HTML link importing.
- Drag & Drop support for .txt, .htm, .html and .url.
- Proper URL format validation.
- Proper scroll bars.
- Multiple custom browser support.
- Remember last used browser.
- Removal of custom browser with DELETE key.
- Multiple file processing by passed arguments.
- Previous and next URL hotkeys on SHIFT + A, S, D, Q, W.

URLister v0.3.0 is basically done! Just need to create the release video & update its about message

Hey Vic!
...a password generator.

Sure thing! I have code for arbitrary-length passwords somewhere

i do wonder what button PREV/POST will do.

They're color pickers!

(For coloring text previous and posterior to the set limit, to suit user preference)

Awesome! Will be looking forward to playing around with it! Thanks, Vic!

My pleasure! :)

Finally freed time to engage in a PD coding spree. Chances are v0.1.0 sees the light on the weekend.

Cheers!

Awesome! Are you thinking of making it a Notepad+ plugin, or a Word macro, or a standalone EXE?

...And the winner is... a traditional standalone EXE:

Screenshot at 2021-03-01 16-48-41_Limitpad-ALPHA.png

There are lots of ways to create visual formatting even of plain text, or even to manipulate (convert case, upside-down text, and other more gimmicky stuff). But like I said, I would rather have a good release version of the base program first, and these are all things you could think about if you want to continue development!

Agreed! Let's focus on your first request, then expand the base program to suit your ideas :)

I hope @publicdomain you're as excited as I am! Thanks again for your time and effort!!

I'm always happy to help a fellow!

BTW Feel free to call me Vic! We're just a few days from v0.1.0. As you are responsive, we can advance the proggie faster.

Cheers!

Nick! Next release is almost done featuring:

- HTML link importing.
- Drag & Drop support for .txt, .htm, .html and .url.
- Proper URL format validation.
- Proper scroll bars.
- Multiple custom browser support.
- Removal of custom browser with DELETE key.
- Multiple file processing by passed arguments.
- Previous and next URL hotkeys. <-- I've hard-coded F9-F12 like this: (MainForm.cs line).

If you'd like different Hotkey combinations, please shoot! Right now is a great time to say it :)

Cheers!

No worry @vic, I do not interfere and wont publish my binary

Feel free to publish yours! We're doing this for the users & the more choice for users = the merrier!! :)

can't await how you solve such problems, great stuff what I've seen so far!

Thanks for your heart-warming words :-*

Appreciated.

Copied and pasted a list of URLs into program okay.

Received the following error message:

[ Invalid Attachment ]

Thanks!

Okay! the sure-fire solution is to have a file-browsing dialog for manual browser picking.

It gets added to next version for moving on from URLister this February to the original URLplayer program from March onward.

Cheers!

Is there a way to turn off this evil behavior?

Okay, I've opened the "Holy Stop" repository to work on a solution that blocks the events based on a bool/flag + a KB/mouse hook.

-

Let's call the boolean "blockScaling".

Monitor:

A: Mouse wheel scroll, no control/Ctrl key.
B: Ctrl keydown, no mouse wheel.
C: ctrl+MouseWheel.
D: Ctrl keyup, no mouse wheel.

PSEUDO:

A, then C: blockScaling = true;
(Assume momentum scroll)

B: blockScaling = false;
(Assume manual keypress / intent)

D: blockScaling = true;
(Assume end of user intent)

IF ctrl+MouseWheel AND blockScaling = false then
    ALLOW ctrl+MouseWheel
ELSE
    BLOCK ctrl+MouseWheel

---

The idea being to ENSURE you have clicked CONTROL down before allowing the passing/processing of ctrl+MouseWheel for regular text scaling.

When it's the WM_MOUSEWHEEL message with no modifier, disable it until next manual intent on Ctrl keydown.

This can work, so it's worth a try for a February release :)

Cheers!
