Living Room / Freeware for time recording?
« Last post by sri on March 22, 2007, 10:47 PM »
Can you guys pls recommend me a free program in which I can punch-in and punch-out when I work on a certain activity and then it should generate weekly and montly reports of what tasks I worked on and for how long etc.

Thanks.
580
Thanks for that but I was actually looking for a prog (.exe) that will check if a specific file (at the same location as the .exe) is open.
581
jgp,

Can you pls give me another version of the script which checks to see if the file is already running (open)?

i.e, check is to be done to see if a file is running and not to see if it exists.

Thanks.

What advantages does this have over Menalto Gallery (server side script)?

Living Room / evoca - empower your voice
« Last post by sri on January 30, 2007, 09:48 PM »
http://www.evoca.com/ is a free service that lets you create and share your voice/audio. You can directly hit the record button on their site, start speaking in your mic and once done, hit the stop button. Now you can embed this audio in your site/blog or e-mail it to others. You can also upload an existing mp3 from your computer or dial a phone number (not sure if it's toll-free or not) and leave your message.

Screenshot - 1_31_2007 , 4_45_19 AM_thumb.png

Recording time for a free account is limited to 60 minutes.

Here's a small audio I created: http://www.evoca.com...ording.jsp?rid=40170

Have a microphone? Why not leave a short hello to DonationCoder?  8) Record your voice and leave the links here.

I quickly glanced thru your post and to me it appears as if you have taken an Acronis image with the problems (of winamp and kplayer or whatever it is). How is it otherwise possible for the problems to resurface? This time, make sure you backup when everything is tested and working fine.

Thanks mouser. MovableType is a nice fit.

Arjen: I don't see how CMS like Drupal, Joomla can be of any relevance here.

Living Room / Blogging platform for enterprise?
« Last post by sri on January 11, 2007, 08:56 PM »
One of my colleagues asked me this:

........ has kindly mentioned that you may be able to provide some advice and perhaps a list of options for the selection of a blogging system.  Here are the high-level requirements:

* LDAP support
* easy to use for those not too savvy
* "brand-able"... able to plug into existing portal and support css
* multiple user roles
* extensible blog entry form... need to add custom fields and support application integration
* support a community size of about 1,000 bloggers (maybe more) and > 500,000 readers
* highly scalable... just add hardware
* and the other basic blogging functions

I am currently evaluating all options: open source, commercial, in-house, and hosted.  I am putting together a best-of-the-best list and plan on building a scorecard around this for presentation to upper management.

Can anyone recommend me possible blogging systems that meet the above requirements?

Hi all,

I am requesting for a tiny program (.exe) that would check for existance of a file/folder on the user's computer and prompt them for a download if they don't have it.

It should have the following input boxes:

1. Path of the file/folder to check (Ex.: C:\Program Files\AvaFind)

2. If present, the path to a file/folder to launch (Ex.: C:\%ProgramFiles%\blah\congrats.html)

3. If Not Present, path to a file/folder to launch (Ex.: c:\program files\internet explorer\iexplore.exe http://www.google.com/search?q=AvaFind)

If not a GUI, a file that can be edited by a text editor with the above modifiable parameters would work as well.

Thanks for any help.

Developer's Corner / Links are invisible in IE6 but appear in FF
« Last post by sri on December 28, 2006, 09:19 PM »
At this page of my new site, URL Form and Manage Cookies links appear in Firefox:

whereas in IE 6, the links don't appear but when the mouse is over them, the cursor turns into hand type and the links are clickable:

proxylinks.jpg

Here is the code being used:

<div id="menu">
          <a href="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'?>">URL Form</a> |
          <a href="?action=cookies">Manage Cookies</a>
         </div>

#menu
{
    -moz-border-radius: 0 30px 0 0;
    /* border-left: 1px solid #CCCDD7;
    border-bottom: 1px solid #CCCDD7; */
    float: right;
    height: 20px;
    /* background-color: #ffffff;
    color: #336600; */
    font-size:80%;
}

Any idea as to what's wrong?

I like www.domjax.com.

It covers .info as well.

"All he asks is for ad space on your site."

Nope. He doesn't. 100% of the ad revenue is yours.

This is good stuff. Thank you.

Thanks sk. Works fine. Looks like you improved the compression logic. Now the generated zip files are all less than the max size that we enter in the program.

I blogged about this in my site.

FlashFXP is #1 of course. But the original poster was asking about a _free_ program.

Living Room / How to install SMF - A Video Tutorial
« Last post by sri on December 03, 2006, 10:54 PM »
A 4 min 40 seconds screencast on how to install SMF (Simple Machines Forum) on your shared hosting web space. It has no audio but has useful bubbles along the way.

http://www.scriptins...mf-a-video-tutorial/

DonationCoder is powered by SMF, of course heavily customized by mouser.

skwire:

1. I entered 8 in the Size field and all (almost) the resulting zip files are more than 8 MB in size. Pls chk the attached screenshot. Is this a bug? I think this will be fixed by being able to specify the size field in bytes and not in megs.

2. If the Output directory doesn't exist, even tho the prog says that zip files are generated, they aren't. Ideally the output directory has to be created if it doesn't exist.

3. Rename the program from Sri-zip to "SPinZip" (SP = Span, in = independently). That is, this is a program that generates spanned zip files that are independent of each other.

4. What's the max. allowable value in Compression field?

1) I changed

to
By visiting the Donate page

2) I'll check with Google to see if the top row ads are okay.
