Living Room / Re: [HELP!!] Win XP reboots sometimes *after* startup [Any Ideas?]
« Last post by cmpm on July 15, 2011, 03:49 PM »
Could be one of your controllers. Go to device manager.
Don't disable them, but uninstall them one by one and reboot.

Windows XP will reinstall them, when found.

PM me with your email, if you don't have an invite.

I invited my son and he had trouble getting in cause of a .edu address.
Not allowed yet I think for that email ext.
So watch what email you use.

We are trying with another email with my son, when he gets around to it.

I haven't figured out how to get in g+.
All I see is that g+ sign on some pages.
I signed up for it and have heard nothing....

f... 'em

Still I can hot link to any google account pic or doc in Facebook.
So I still have plenty of storage from many sources,
Even without anything google.

Google has the potential to be far more intrusive then Facebook imo.
Facebook does not track my browsing history like Google as far as I know.

I've had no trouble stopping app invitations and games with Facebook.
The friend requests for apps must be approved be me.
I doubt that it matters to them or Facebook.
I can block seeing their activities with their stuff as well.

Not to put down G+ before it even gets started. Or defend Facebook.
Just that privacy and annoyance concerns me with how much power Google already has.

As gHacks points out, this is not a problem.
Just uncheck those two boxes.

If you do not want that make sure you disable the options on the completing the toolbar cleaner 1.0 setup wizard.

I didn't want either.
And I don't recall having to do anything with facebook or twitter.
The download is on the page I posted as well as a link to it's facebook page, that I didn't need to go to.

This program was able to remove some disabled plug-ins with no way to remove them that I knew of.
Maybe it will be of some help to others here.

Battery life and reliance would be a factor I think.
I'd get two if it doesn't come with two, so you always have one ready.
My 2 cents.

Living Room / Re: nearby lightning skrike kills neighbours computers (and mine)
« Last post by cmpm on June 30, 2011, 05:18 AM »
A few things that may help, or not.
For a few this has helped, from what I've heard.

Setup your computer room away from the main power supply to your house, if possible.
If you only have one room for your computers, shut off the breaker when a storm is coming,
a bit of an annoyance but could work, or not depending on the power surge strength.
Unplug everything, should work, more annoying solution unless you have a few plugs only.

After I updated to 5, I found that some incompatible add-ons were not needed because the function was already there in 5. Working with tabs mostly.

This add-on helped me make a more informed decision on what to keep.
It will show you which ones that show as 'incompatible' initially, actually still work.
And that was quite a few that still work.

But you have to add this add-on to see it or FF auto disables them.

https://addons.mozil...ty-reporter/?src=api

It will give you the choice of disabling the incompatible ones instead of auto killing it.

This add-on helps the others work and shows more info as well as reporting to add-on developers.

Using my email address, which is required.

I would bet the code is the same although I did have to use my email address.
And my email shows up in 'about' for the program.

For those who are war veterans or know of any.

I expect not many know of this, I don't know.
Just learned of it myself.
Important info for their part of Independence Day.

A tuneup is a need for sure if you have not done that,
it seems to be lacking efficiency.
Get hotter burning plugs when you tune up, check the parts store for the best ones.

And the less you press the gas pedal the less you will burn gas.
That is a fact.

If it's a standard transmission, try not to wind out the gears.
Shift at lower rpms.
Even with automatics you can let the transmission shift at lower rpms.

Raising the air pressure in the tires to the maximum will get better mileage.
Debatable to many, but I've seen the difference.

Get the front end aligned, with such large tires they need to be near perfect.
If it's used for snow plowing, I'm sure the front end is a mess.
