Google Boomerang / Re: Odd characters ...
« Last post by kunkel321 on May 27, 2010, 06:19 PM »
i remember seeing odd characters at some point.. can you tell when in the process they start getting introduced?
can you give me an example of a phrase that results in them?

Hi Mouser, Thanks for the reply.
They seem to happen straight away--first loop.  When viewed on my computer, the (above) sample text shows all the odd characters...  Maybe they aren't showing for other people??  I'll post an actual image:

Oddly, I've found that the Fried Babbelfish app does show the expected Spanish characters...  Maybe FBF is pulling the characters from Google and TB is pulling from my computer (??)  I don't know.  Ideas?

Google Boomerang / Odd characters ...
« Last post by kunkel321 on May 26, 2010, 04:26 PM »
Is it possible to point TransBoomer to a Spanish dictionary?  I actually use it to communicate with Spanish-speaking parents at my school...  I use it in two ways:  First is to translate English text to Espanish, but also to (at the same time) unsure that it's going to be comprehensible...

The problem is that I get lots of junk characters like

Presumably this is caused by TrannyBoomer substituting characters (??) Is this a dictionary issue?  or a font issue maybe?  Ideas?  Thanks.
PS "TrannyBoomer" was a typo but I left it because it was funny :)

...And the most important thing to remember when traveling back in time, is that if you mention any of this stuff to the wrong person in the town square ... you'll most likely be burned at the stake for heresy :)

LOL..  That's what I was going to post, but you beat me to it!  :o)

Not sure why...  I'm running 1.109.01 on XP SP3.
%AllStartMenu% seems to populate correctly, but %ControlPanel% and %InternetHistory%just has [no items to display].
I'll try to attach an image of my settings for the item...

Any ideas I might try?
Sorry...  Doesn't seem to display my jpg...

Thanks very much for doing the videos.  I thought I had explored all the nooks and cranies of FARR--but I learned a few things just now watching the video!!!   ;D

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: fyi start up error...
« Last post by kunkel321 on June 03, 2009, 12:59 PM »
Actually this is still happening....  I noticed that I have Options > Backup on program start = Yes.
I suspect that I'm getting a corrupt backup DB (???).  I guess I'll do an uninstall/reinstall.
Does anyone have any additional recommendations?  I looked in Program Files to see if there was an error log, but didn't see one.  I noticed that after it happens no new clips are remembered (though all my "old" clips seem to still be there.)
Thanks -steve

is this on a new install, or just started happening when it was previously working fine?
do you get it every time you run it?  if you exit and restart do you still get the error?
Started happening, then only happened a couple times...  Tried to isolate the cause but couldn't get a replication...  :huh:

The Form Letter Machine / Feature request: "toggle variables"
« Last post by kunkel321 on May 29, 2009, 05:34 PM »
Hi, tried to post on the "official feature request" thread, but didn't see how.  :huh:

What I'd like to be able to do is have a series of variables that can be set as a group to "A" or "B."
Example Content:
==============================
Dear parent,
This is to notify you that your [son|daughter] will be graduating soon.  [He|she] will need [his|her] cap and gown fitted for [him|her] prior to graduation.
==============================

Then I could choose between [A|B] in one location and the choice would be propagated through the entire document.  Does that make sense?
I'm not sure how this would work...  I guess there would need to be a special kind of radio group such as
=========
Gender
()male
()female
=========
There would have to be a way for TFLM to know what group each of the toggle variables corresponded to... ... ...
Maybe this:

Tree group:
=========
Gender
()male
()female
=========

Text body:
==============================
Dear parent,
This is to notify you that your [Gender:son|daughter] will be graduating soon.  [Gender:He|she] will need [Gender:his|her] cap and gown fitted for [Gender:him|her] prior to graduation.
==============================

Did that even make sense?  This is rather cumbersome... Do other people have ideas?
Thanks for considering this  ;D  -steve

Find And Run Robot / Re: Bug: FARR crashes if I enter LG
« Last post by kunkel321 on May 24, 2009, 03:08 PM »
Weird.  No problem entering "LG" here....
Have you tried going to Options > Launch History and right-click "delete all?"

Sorry about that, I incorrectly said that "Virtual Folders" was a "Formatting Preset Sub-menu" ... I guess it's actually a sub-menu of "All Clips."  Anyway, what I'm trying to describe is having "Virtual Folders" as a root menu item and all of the other stuff ("Print last clip," "show main window," "Cancel," etc) hidden. So the menu would look like:

====================================
1 - clipbrd string that I copied.
2 - another clipbrd string that I copied.
3 - and another
4 - so on and biz bar.
-------------------------
Virtual Folders >>
====================================

(Note that I see how to hide many of the menus  via "Quick Paste Menu 2," which helps  :)  -steve

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Just fyi: incompatible with ObjectDock.
« Last post by kunkel321 on May 23, 2009, 10:22 PM »
Hmmm.. Interesting, just launched ObjectDock and did testing...
(Am on Vista Home Prem, but have seen error on XP too)
I'm actually thinking that the CHS window is not becoming "active" even though it's in the foreground.
Using hotkey v. tray icon R-click menu is the same.  And the effect is the same on the Prefs GUI or the Editor Window...
I activate it and *can* mouser-over it and the moused-over buttons/menus *do* show the moused-over color-change, but clicking does nothing.  I have OjDoc set to display icons of open windows on the toolbar.  If I click the CHS icon, it brings the window the rest of the way fwd, thus allowing it to work...  (I can tell this is happening because I noticed the top window bar get darker, thus indicating that the window had not been "active").  I have a hunch this might be an ObjDoc bug....
Also, just FYI, tried it with the FARR Options window and the problems does not exist....

Please consider more control over what is shown in the Quick Access Popup List...
Personally, I'd like to have "Virtual Folders" as a level one menu (rather than a Formatting Preset sub-menu) and have the entire rest of the list dedicated to "New" clips.  Of course other people will have other preferences...  Thanks for considering this  :-[   -steve

Clipboard Help+Spell / Just fyi: incompatible with ObjectDock.
« Last post by kunkel321 on May 23, 2009, 09:42 PM »
Just fyi:  If ObjectDock (OSX-style launcher) is running, CH+S will freeze if you access the prefs.  The pref GUI will show, but will be unclickable (buttons, toolbars, etc).
It doesn't realy matter to me though....  I've adopted FARR as my launcher in place of OD...    :D    -steve

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: CHS Feature Request: visual at copy, or, paste
« Last post by kunkel321 on May 23, 2009, 09:36 PM »
Seems like a cursor change would make more sense than an icon change...  Folks will typically be using the mouse/watching the curser when selecting text to copy...  (or not?)  -steve
