Find And Run Robot / Plug-ins not showing...
« Last post by kunkel321 on November 06, 2011, 11:13 AM »
It's probably just an id10t error... But, shouldn't these plugins (see pic) show up here (see pic again)?

Clipboard Help+Spell / Kudos on the new version...
« Last post by kunkel321 on November 05, 2011, 12:33 PM »
Just wanted to say kudos, Mouser.
I hadn't tinkered with CHS for a couple years. The latest version is very cool. Feature-packed without a lot of bloat.

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Image capture doesn't work for me
« Last post by kunkel321 on November 05, 2011, 12:28 PM »
I also was having the issue of CHS not "seeing" images that were on the clipboard. I increased the 'max size' but that didn't help. Then I assigned a specific folder for the file directory.... Seems to work now.

I've used apostrophes in the past
   'MyFile
The "bar" character seems logical
   |MyFile
since (I think) it takes up the least space of any of the character...

In reality I typically revert to plain old
   1SuperImportant
   2aSomeFile
   2bAnother

I also would avoid anything that might get used as script parts.
   ! $ *

If you import stuff into Excel, it's good to avoid any math operators
   - + = * /

I think Word uses the tilde to denote temporary backups of open docs
   ~tempMyFile
but I think it is legal to use in Word doc file names.

Actually, though I'm not a programmer, I think the bar might get used to denote lists
item one | item two | item three
Which is too bad... I think they're kindof pretty. :)

Living Room / Re: Looking at Cameras
« Last post by kunkel321 on July 19, 2011, 02:31 PM »
I'll give my $0.02 (USD) ;) even though I can tell from the posts that most of you are more advanced in the subject than I am.... I'm a Fujifilm fan. I got my first digital camera 6 or 7 years ago. I chose the FinePix s5000 mostly because of its feature set. 10x Optical, 3 megapixels. I got it for about $350, which was an okay deal. I've been real happy with it over the years, but recently the autofocus-assist green light thingy doesn't work and also there seems to be more distortions in the photos. (Maybe because my helpful nephew took a bunch of pictures of the summer sun for me a while back.) A year or two ago, my father-in-law gave me a little Olympus T-100 compact. The pics are not as good as the s5000. Also, the T-100's power button seems to have broken after a couple months of light use. Basically, when turned off, the lens doesn’t detract and therefore you can’t put it in your pocket. I have to take the battery out, and put it back in for it to close. Anyway… I’d been looking around for what my replacement will be. One of the ones I’d had my eye on is the FinePix s4000. The s4000 came on sale at Costco for $200, so I got it. It’s pretty nice. Still trying out the different features… It is similar to my old s5000. Has a 30x optical zoom which is nice, even though you practically have to have a tripod to use the full zoom. 14 MP, image stabilization, blink and smile detection. Macro mode.
I do have to say, I gave serious thought to investing in a good pocket camera, simply for the reason given by CWuestefeld that a camera isn’t much use if you don’t have it with you… Ended up with the full-size s4000 because the sale price was pretty good. I am curious if anyone can comment on the picture quality of a full-size versus a compact of the same price-range. I noticed some comments above that really small compacts might not be as great. But for instance what about a $300 full-size verses a $300 compact, of the same mega pixels by the same company??? I do have to say that not having to deal with a lenscap is nice… Then again, being able to use standard AA batteries is nice too :)

Hey Kamahl, It turned out great! I'm glad somebody made you a screencast. I was thinking about it, but won't be able to.
I cleaned up that gif a little. Will attach to this post. The actual file is from DrawPlusX4, wich is proprietary, but if you want I can export is as some type of cad file... That's all--take care.

Hey thanks for the feedback :)
For proper citation, I got the globe from OpenClipart, and added the shading an transparency/reflection. The stoplight was built from scratch.
Here you go, if you want you can use this for the webpage, About dialog, or etc...

I could maybe do a couple. I'm going to tinker around with Kamahl's NetLauncher so I can make a better icon for it anyway... Might as well do a screencast.

How to share an .ico file??
I made Kamahl an icon, but I can't figure out how to send it to him. The PM email form thing has a button to "Attach File (use browse button below)." But there is no browse button! Also, imgur doesn't allow .ico files...
What's the best way to handle this? Thanks...

Thanks Mouser! When editing this post, I see the [Choose File] button below. Hopefully it attached correctly...

Clipboard Help+Spell / Re: Clipboard Help+Spell - Top Priority Requests for 2011
« Last post by kunkel321 on December 31, 2010, 01:32 PM »
Hi Mouser, Thanks for your work on this excellent app..
Request 1: Let me define what "Old" means. I.e. any item from this week gets listed as a "new" clipboard item, even if my computer has been restarted...
Request 2: More control over the quick popup menu, including the hierarchy of nested items... My perfect popup would be as follows:
===============
New items
-----
Old items
-----
A single sub-menu of everything else.
===============

Thanks for considering this! ;D

Developer's Corner / Re: Tabbed Plaintext: Good or not-so-good idea?
« Last post by kunkel321 on December 26, 2010, 11:36 AM »
Hey, this sounds pretty cool! At work I use a singe large txt file that is a list of about 500 clients' contact info, alphabetized. I always thought it would be nice if I could drill-down into the contents, by initial, in the same way that most contacts databases do... Sounds like your system would work for that. I'd humbly recommend allowing multiple rows of tabs.... I like my text editors to be narrow and off to the side of my desktop. Also, you indicated a separation as being 13 dashes, maybe a less-restrictive number, such as >30, <10 would be easier... (though the rebel in me does like the #13 ;) )

Serif's DrawPlus has some "auto shapes" that can be made into gears. It's shareware, but they give away the older versions of their stuff free.

Sometimes in PC Utilities and other mags and sites, they'll have a slightly newer version for free...

Google Boomerang / Re: Odd characters ...
« Last post by kunkel321 on May 28, 2010, 09:28 AM »
The "Translated Text" *does* show up as expected, but it's the text en Espanol that I'm interested in... As mentioned in OP, if I need to communicate with a person who speaks Spanish, TranslatorBoomerang does two things for me, it (1) converts my written word into Spanish, but also (2) it check the validity of the translation by converting it back to English. I know that if the "back to English" part has a different meaning, then my translated Spanish text probably will not convey my intended message--hence I need to rephrase the original text to be converted. I've actually used this technique of converting-back-to-English as a way of error checking my verbage for a long long time... Your TranslatorBoomerang is the ONLY software Iv'e found that does it for me in one step!!

So again, I do want the converted-back-English part, but more importantly, I want the Espanol text for my document that I'm writing....
That's Way I have to get it from the "Debug" tab... :)

i remember seeing odd characters at some point.. can you tell when in the process they start getting introduced?
can you give me an example of a phrase that results in them?

Hi Mouser, Thanks for the reply.
They seem to happen straight away--first loop. When viewed on my computer, the (above) sample text shows all the odd characters... Maybe they aren't showing for other people?? I'll post an actual image:
http://imgur.com/06tMG.png
Oddly, I've found that the Fried Babbelfish app does show the expected Spanish characters... Maybe FBF is pulling the characters from Google and TB is pulling from my computer (??) I don't know. Ideas?

Google Boomerang / Odd characters ...
« Last post by kunkel321 on May 26, 2010, 04:26 PM »
Is it possible to point TransBoomer to a Spanish dictionary? I actually use it to communicate with Spanish-speaking parents at my school... I use it in two ways: First is to translate English text to Espanish, but also to (at the same time) unsure that it's going to be comprehensible...

The problem is that I get lots of junk characters like
Vinnie Vincent Invasion Baby-O Letras:

[Chorus]
Baby-O, Baby-O, I
Baby-O, Baby-O, I

Difunde tu amor y hacer mis sueños realidad
Al igual que el fuego salvaje, estoy ardiendo por ti

Presumably this is caused by TrannyBoomer substituting characters (??) Is this a dictionary issue? or a font issue maybe? Ideas? Thanks.
PS "TrannyBoomer" was a typo but I left it because it was funny :)
