General Software Discussion / Re: Windows 10 All In one Shortcut bar

A collection of shortcut files to these would be wonderful to put in a Find and Run Robot alias, or a Launchbar Commander menu... Anyone?

what is the font btw?

Original forum css was:
  • font-size: small;
  • font-family: verdana, sans-serif;

New forum as of yesterday was:
  • font: 78%/130% "Verdana", "Arial", "Helvetica", sans-serif;

New forum as of now is:
  • font: 90%/130% "Verdana", "Arial", "Helvetica", sans-serif;

Essentially ignore everything except the font size.

I think the old "small" was translated to something around 85% or so? (i tried it here, it landed somewhere between the 78% and 90%).

I've bumped the forum font size up a small but non-trivial amount.  Better?

Note 1: As always, make sure to F5 reload pages to have new css applied.
Note 2: On a browser less than 800 pixels wide, it will revert to smaller text size.

Glad you got it working well enough to suit you  :up:
The most surprising thing is hearing that the old method with the flashing black and long delay actually was able to capture the image but the no-delay, disable aero transparency wasn't.. I've never heard of that before and it's darn curious...

How strange.. I may have to install electric sheep to try it.

Can you answer a few more questions:
1. When you perform an active window capture (alt+prtscr) now, is the capture size the correct size that you intended it to capture?
2. When you were using it before with the old setting and the long delay, was it capturing the image properly in that scenario?

I wonder if you might try disabling the two main options on the "Window Capturing 2" tab and see what happens..

the entire window is black or just black around borders?
if you do a full screen capture (prtscr hotkey), does it look ok?

When performing an Active Window capture, SC tries to use an advanced method to capture partial-transparency that can be seen in some Windows themes.  This slows down capture, and for some apps could result in strange behavior (for example when the active window is a child window on top of a parent form).

Try this, disable the option "Try to capture Aero Glass transparency effect" on the "Window Capturing 1 tab:

Let me know how that works for you.

I think logically there is something to be said for not having links bolded by default -- just because it enables SOME links to be bolded for emphasis; other than that I am ambivalent.
Let's try it this way for a week and make a decision at that point.
Screenshots above show the difference in look -- or you can always use a local css file to override the site css.

FIXED -- thanks for finding that.  I had a syntax error in the css file and it was breaking a bunch of things.  Should be ok now.  :up:

Ok I have switched to a default of non-bolded hyperlinks; i still bold them in a few places (like inside posts) to make them more readable, but elsewhere back to non-bolded.
Remember to hit F5 to force a re-load of the css file to see the changes.

Let me know if you folks like this look better or worse.

I find that there isn't enough contrast between pinned threads and everything else (eg the living room) particularly when viewed on a small device (like my 10" netbook).  Did the old format have a dedicated icon (I can't remember, but it was quite plain)

Check again now please (make sure to F5 to reload css).

I'd love to see what the unread:all page looks like without the bold. Was it set this way (all links are bold) in the previous forum? Because if not that might explain a sense of something being "off" here that I hadn't put my finger on yet, in which case I'd prefer non-bold links by default. I think changing the color of visited links to better differentiate them is a better solution than bolding them all.

Perhaps we should try unbolded links for a bit and see if they are preferred;  I think perhaps the old forum did not use bolded links.   I intended to keep a working backup of the old forum for comparison purposes but due to unforseen circumstances i was not able to keep it online (though obviously i still have all the files to inspect manually).

Back at home when I put the pen-drive in my machine, AVG stops and reports virus and I format it. This is a routine.

ha! I suppose if the pen-drive ever came back WITHOUT a virus you'd get suspicious, huh?  ;D

In your profile you can create a list of buddies (doesn't have to be reciprocal).
Buddy list is just an easier way to see when someone on your buddy list is online currently.

All I know is that this orange-apple image, enlarging underneath the YouTube screen, is the first time it has happened (to me).

I understood your image, but couldn't reproduce the problem, and decided it was probably something we could ignore or at least file as low-priority problem for now.

Regardless of whether I change the hyperlinks to be bold or not, i have used a different color for buddies on memberlist so they should show up differently -- so that should solve that problem.

We still need to decide whether to keep hyperlinks bolded (see screenshots to compare).

Was making all hyperlinks bold chosen to get larger message-titles?, as those are also hyperlinks. I expect those would have their own css style.

it was one to make it easier to identify clickable links.
