Have you tried to copy the files over via CLI?  If so, what happens?
-Stephen66515 (June 07, 2017, 10:43 PM)

How? What files? The computer doesn't recognize the filesystem (hence the "1.1 GB Unknown"). It can't read and display to me which files are supposedly on the CD.

sj1k said "Get on IRC" so he can help xD

Living Room / Google Are Taking Up The Fight Against Disruptive Ads
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on June 02, 2017, 10:26 AM »
Google will introduce an ad blocker to Chrome early next year and is telling publishers to get ready.

The warning is meant to let websites assess their ads and strip any particularly disruptive ones from their pages. That’s because Chrome’s ad blocker won’t block all ads from the web. Instead, it’ll only block ads on pages that are determined to have too many annoying or intrusive advertisements, like videos that autoplay with sound or interstitials that take up the entire screen.

Sridhar Ramaswamy, the executive in charge of Google’s ads, writes in a blog post that even ads “owned or served by Google” will be blocked on pages that don’t meet Chrome’s guidelines.

Instead of an ad “blocker,” Google is referring to the feature as an ad “filter,” according to The Wall Street Journal, since it will still allow ads to be displayed on pages that meet the right requirements. The blocker will work on both desktop and mobile.

Google is providing a tool that publishers can run to find out if their sites’ ads are in violation and will be blocked in Chrome. Unacceptable ads are being determined by a group called the Coalition for Better Ads, which includes Google, Facebook, News Corp, and The Washington Post as members.

Living Room / Win10 Creators Update breaks trackpads.
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on May 20, 2017, 04:38 PM »
Looks like I'm not the only one who has had issues with this.  Just spent the last 2-3 hours fighting with my laptop trying to get my trackpad working, and it turned out that the drivers had been completely removed from my system during the update to "Creators Update" - No clue why or how it happened, and installing the official drivers had 0 effect on anything.

So...after 2-3 hours, I'm no longer on that update, as I have rolled back.

This post serves as a means to warn other people that this may happen, and if so, pretty much the only solution seems to be "Revert Back" to the previous update (whatever you was on before you upgraded) - The one saving grace here is that Windows 10 makes that very easy, and considering it took several hours to instal Creators Update...it took 10 minutes to revert back...so I can't moan too much about _that_ process :)

There is no need to reply to insults with more insults (Stephen I'm looking at you).

Look at me all you want...I call a spade a spade (or in this case, a jackass a jackass)  ;D

I may have ranted more than I usually would have done (sleep deprivation and all that), but I'm also sick of self-entitled idiots who think they deserve everything.  Yeah, the license key may be slightly frustrating to find (even I couldn't remember where it was the other day)...but is there any need to come onto the forum, screaming and swearing?  In any other "Customer Service" situation, he would have been simply told to f**k off, get out of the store, and not to return.  At least I directed him to where he needed to go BEFORE my rant ^_^  I'd say that's twice the help he should have got haha

Hey tomos! Long time no see!!! :D
-Stephen66515 (May 19, 2017, 04:07 AM)

been using Screen shot capture for years [for nothing!] & this is the thankyou I get.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

I love how entitled this guy feels hahahaha "OMFG YOU GAVE ME SOMETHING FOR FREE AND NOW I FEEL LIKE YOU SHOULD GIVE ME WAY MORE EVEN IF I ABUSE YOU IN THE PROCESS OF ASKING"  ;D ;D ;D ;D

He failed to anticipate running into a heavily sleep deprived Stephen who could not give less of a f**k about his pissy ass probems  ;D

DC Gamer Club / Re: Constructor - 24hr giveaway on GOG
« Last post by KynloStephen66515 on May 19, 2017, 03:17 AM »
An older game I've never heard of has returned(?) to GOG and they're giving it away to anyone who claims it within the first 24 hours.

https://www.gog.com/game/constructor

I'm rather pissed that I have only just noticed this thread...I absolutely ADORED that game when I was younger (when that game was new!)

So...I'm off to have a look how much it costs these days!

Probably have to run through DOSBox though I expect!

cause I can't afford to donate
-jacki
I have a business to run.

If you can't afford even $1 to donate to FREE software that you have used "for years", then business can't be going well then eh  ;D ;D ;D

Unlike most of you I don't have time to buggerize around for hours

Gonna just skip over the fact that you're on a forum for a thriving community of professionals ;)

Im going to find a better screen capture program

Yeah, good luck with that ;) - Feel free to drop by and review whatever you find!

I'll say it for you shall I FUCK YOU

Not what I was going to say, but OK :)

Just spent the last hour trying to get this bloody key, signed up to forum cause I can't afford to donate, been using Screen shot capture for years & this is the thankyou I get. bloody pain n the butt. Please email it to my email address as I'm sick of looking for it & don't have time for all this shit or I'll go find another screen capture program. Email address in in my profile               thanks for wasting my time, not bloody impressed one bit.
Now I have to prove that I'm bloody human, what the hell do you think I am ? IDIOTS

https://www.donationcoder.com/Keys/ - Not rocket science.

Since you cannot be bothered to talk like a decent human being, and instead decide to throw insults around, I'll leave it up to you to look at this as you don't deserve the effort to go the extra step for.

I'll go find another screen capture program.

Oh no...However will we manage without somebody throwing insults at us rather than asking a simple question in a polite way...or visiting the live chat option...or using the search function...

Seriously...You're a jackass.

Now I have to prove that I'm bloody human

It's called "anti-spam"...shame it isn't an "anti-asshat" function.

been using Screen shot capture for years & this is the thankyou I get

Let me translate this: "I've been using your FREE software for years that the developer has spent YEARS of his time creating and supporting, and yet somehow, I feel like YOU should be grateful to ME...so much so that I will come by the forum and act like a complete wanker in the meantime."

Seriously?

I'm gonna say this is the nicest way possible...and consider the fact I have been up for a long ass time right now....

Actually...never mind...I'm not gonna sink to your level...I've ranted enough now and quite frankly...you're not worth it.

FWIW had an issue logging in this morning - gave me a 'timed out while posting' error.

I usually navigate straight to the forum, and login via lastpass

Same behaviour in both Opera and FF - to login (in FF) I had to go to the home page, then to the forum, then log in manually (OMG!!)

That one has just (within the last 30-45 mins) been fixed by le mouser :D

It is important to note that unsupported versions of Windows, like XP, did not receive this security update.

Exactly what I have been saying to people who are talking about this issue.  If you are still on Windows XP (Which has not received any security updates for over 3 years now) the only person at fault, is you.  If you don't take very basic measures to keep your system secure then there is nobody else you can blame (Yeah you can blame the malware dev but when there are very VERY basic steps to mitigate these issues...)

Doesn't seem to be directly aimed at the NHS and seems more like it was an unintentional hit - Hopefully the coder behind the malware learns of what is going on and comes forward with decryption keys - It's happened before (with somebody releasing decryption keys) so it isn't impossible!

From: http://www.bbc.co.uk...news/health-39899646

A major incident has been declared after NHS services across England and Scotland were hit by a large-scale cyber-attack.
Staff cannot access patient data, which has been scrambled by ransomware. There is no evidence patient data has been compromised, NHS Digital has said.
The BBC understands up to 25 NHS organisations and some GP practices have been affected.
It comes amid reports of cyber-attacks affecting organisations worldwide.
A Downing Street Spokesman said Prime Minister Theresa May was being kept informed of the situation, while Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt is being briefed by the National Cyber Security Centre.

Thank you and I hope this is non-obfustigated, as I have to confess to a vocabulary malfunction in my brain on that one:

I think he meant non-obfuscated (or perhaps was making a riff on that?), so you didn't miss anything.

Yes...I totally meant to do that....Honest! ;D

Great find!

I'm lucky in this respect though as through my university website, we have full access to every paid (and unpaid) journal that exists (at least...that exist publicly) :D

I'd be inclined to suggest the EXE is removed from the download list until it can be sorted (but of course keeping the code available).

Don't take that as me accusing the file/OP as being of malicious intent, rather take it as me being worried about the potential for damage caused by Google picking up on those flags, and then flagging DC as a host of malicious software (and then the implications that having a website flagged as such would come with).

Just my and feel free to ignore me xD

Thanks for sharing that information. Looks useful.

It's a bloody handy site and allows you to have I think 50 different monitors! xD

I use https://uptimerobot.com/ to get down information of important websites including DC  :)

It emailed me when DC was down and also when up,
"The monitor donationcoder.com (https://www.donationcoder.com/) is back UP (HTTP 200 - OK) (It was down for 16 hours, 46 minutes and 37 seconds)."

Regards,

Anand

Heh that's exactly what I am using (combined with a couple of other services in order to be able to automatically get the info via IRC) :D

It probably should be said that if the website goes down in the future, please visit us on IRC (Connection Details Below) and let us know (It might not have been noticed!).

Another way to check is to visit our facebook page (www.facebook.com/DonationCoder) to see if we have posted an update there :) (NB: Will only be a post there if I'm awake and/or been told about the downtime!!!) (I can't actually do very much other than bug SoftLayer to try fix things so mouser is the first person that should be poked about these things!!! I just help him to not have a nervous breakdown during these times haha).

I have sorted out a monitor for the website now so we should be notified instantly (It posts to IRC and will make mouser aware) of any downtime so it can be fixed.

IRC Connection Info
Server: irc.freenode.net
Port: 6667
Channel: #donationcoder

No IRC Client? No Problem! Why not grab something like HexChat which is available for most platforms! - (I'm not affiliated with HexChat and couldn't care less what you actually use - this is simply a quick suggestion!)  :D
